I'm a rper from Virtue, and just came here a few weeks after the announcement of CoH going down.
I'm having fun here, and in general the community is very welcoming, so you all deserve a big THANK YOU!!!.
I'm remaking some of my characters here, still working out how to adapt them to CO's lore (Sort of a reboot, if you want to call it that), and enjoying the exploratory ride.
I'm
@Baronesa in game, same global I had on CoH.
See you all in game

If you are looking for an RP group to hang with, might I recommend my own?

I was starting to feel like the red-headed step child lol.
But you ARE the redheaded stepchild.
'Caine, miss you bud. Fly high.
True, but I was starting to feel like it.
I understand that this is the cool place for Super Heroes to hang out.
<Sigh>
Yet another CoH refugee
You may or may not have seen me on Virtue as Paragon Vanguard, or Luke Minhere, or Hassle, or ... well, on Union I was Ammo Dump. I am a follower of Tanker Tuesday (see them on facebook), and was a member of many Super Groups which I maintained an upstanding citizenship to, considering I was the leader of most of them, though not all.
How long do you have to have an account to be able to actually start your own thread?
Paragon Vanguard
Luke Minhere
Hughe of The Purple Robes
EDIT: Oh, and I think the weird "start a thread" gate is over after a week, but mine may have gone away because I asked the mod about it and maybe he did something behind the scenes. I don't know because he never replied, but I DID send a second "never mind" email so he wasn't really required to.
Thanks!
Paragon Vanguard
Luke Minhere
Hughe of The Purple Robes
Still getting the feel of CO compared to CoH, but so far there's nothing that jars or I don't like: it's just a different game. (Still on the fence about whether or not my main getting repeatedly creamed in the final part of the Demonflame arc is -as has been suggested by veterans- a bug, or just my gameplay.)
Having said that, finding a lot of the stuff about the graphics on the forums bemusing to say the least -on CoH I had to have everything set so low I'd joke I was playing with stick figures on a crayon background, but my laptop seems to be handling CO more easily and hey, the graphics actually look very similar to CoH at the settings I used to have to play it at. And so far I haven't been getting anything like the same degree of lag.
(There's an irony here: I ended up in CoH back in February 2012 because endless threads/comments in these forums about CO being a system-killer led me to conclude I wouldn't be able to run it on the single-core Sempron machine I got in a sale the same year CO came out. Then I fell in love with CoH, its content (not so much its lore, but the niggles weren't enough to spoil the arcs) got a kick out of how positive, friendly and helpful the in-game chat was -played every day for 6 months and I saw "Read The Wiki" offered as 'help' in the Help Channel only once, and then the guy was only making a joke to a WoW refugee & immediately started offering actual advice- so didn't even think about CO again until a week and a bit ago. Only to find CO runs fine, ageing single-core Sempron & wheezy Nvidia 8200-thingy vid card notwithstanding.)
Like many others I am recreating (versions of) my CoH toons here in CO, and so far I'm pretty impressed at how close I'm able to get them -it's like same characters, new artist. So if you too are an Union refugee and you run into Cosmic Charlie, Ipsissimus, The Pale Phantom, Ms. Impervious or Grim Justice, say hi. If I haven't gone blind from trying to read the tiny, wee chatbox (as close as I'm willing to get to a criticsm of CO so far) I'll say hi back atcha!
Nice to see another Virtue-person!
Obviously I too am a CoH refugee. And proud as hell of it. Played since August of 2004. Some of you may know me

I originally started playing Champions when it first came out, started 09/2009. Curious to see what Cryptic left CoH to create. Thought this was going to be what CoH was "supposed to be". Unfortunately I am not a big fan of cell-shading and the whole mod/loot/creation system is (still) quite confusing to me. But I am returning now, because my home has been destroyed and CO makes a pretty good alternative. I respect the crap out of Cryptic (especially for their CoH closing comments) and I am happy to be back in M-City. Thanks for the kind support of the current CO player base. That having been said, I am trying to find someone....
I only have a character name. Not a handle. Anyone feel like giving a newb some pointers on how to find a character? The social tool was not very helpful, or maybe I am just using it wrong. Do they really have to be online at the same time I search? is there a way to find a handle with just a toon name? Any info would be great. Thanks.
CoH was "supposed to be" what CoH was supposed to be, too. Ah, Jack...such big dreams, such poor implementation.
I am @MyriadSilvre in game (and was @Myriad Silvre in CoH as well). I, like many, had a hard time accepting CoH's passing (I've yet to delete it from my computer). My at-the-time-boyfriend (now husband of nearly 4 years) introduced me to the game in 2007, and I'd played off and on ever since, though more actively in the past two years.
I played primarily on Virtue (I love RPing but am rather timid to get things started). I don't mean to name drop, but I figure many RPed with Rothgar or Night Sai, whose 'pilots' are good friends of mine, both met via CoH. This might also give a sense of my RP style/tendencies. I was also in Phoenix Insurrection for a short time as Kaipara and later Riordan Ashe, though lack of sub kept me from the game here and there.
My mains/most notables were:
Mambo Awiti
Decimbyr Tryst
Myriad Silvre
Techni-Kali
Angel Corpse
Tem'pra Aspyn
I too am recreating former toons (aside from Techni-Kali, as there is no Crab Spider backpack here T_T), though I am waiting a bit before subscribing (you'll excuse me if I'm a bit gun-shy now...) and then I will start with Mambo, who is very near and dear to my heart.
I honestly hated CO when I tried it out in the beta, mostly due to character wipes and I felt like I never got out of the tutorial! But I have warmed to the game, and just last night played Whiteout and enjoyed the crap outta it. I love how immersive the game play is, and I'm always up for lots of character customization!
I currently am playing Tem'pra Aspyn in-game, so feel free to say hello!
I also played on Virtue (created my own vanity SG called Solar Angels), though that SG was more of a "conceptual exercise" in creating a themed team.
I played a lot on Triumph, Defiant, and Liberty as well. I shuffled all of my villains over to the Union server.
If you knew me, it was probaby as Stark Fist or Oswaldo. If so, Hi! If not, Hi anyway!
I can make scrappers here, yes?
I think I've finally created a linked PWE account which I hope might mean I can connect to the server when I get home... my Cryptic account login has timed out every time except once.
Welcome.
Ehm ..ehm...I fear that they weren't thinking about your home server....
http://www.herogames.com/home.htm#
Yes you can do scrappers : with the archetypes choose one that has the role of melee damage, with the freeforms...they can be any role that you want, you could create a scrapper that does melee and ranged damage if you wish and that in his spare time tank or heal too
Also, I see there's a lot of RP friendly friendsy-friends on here, but are there any locations in game that are frequented by RPers I can look forward to? In CoH there was always the Pocket D, but I have no idea if there are any places like that waiting for me as I level up since I just started.
You're probably looking for Club Caprice.

Anywho, I've finally decided to poke around and see if CO can be my new home. Hoping to meet up with friends old and new IG.
My forum acct looks to still be on probation. Hopefully that ends soon. Until then, I'lll be lurking around in one form or another.
