...no matter how heavily you weight those damn vehicle lockboxes....I am not going to buy keys for them, much less actually have them waste inventory space. I do not plan on ever spending money for a vehicle. Honestly. How about changing the drop rate on the damn things?
I've opened some solely for the drifter salvage for some of the old items in the drifter store. But i could never afford the cash to open all the ones i now have let alone the future.
The drop rate is excessive.
And you know what's annoying? Having to reach for the touchpad on my laptop every time someone in the team gets one (which current;y is what half the drops?) to click on the need/greed thing... see i play using an xbox controller and while the box that comes up says buttons are assigned to each option.. pressing the buttons doesn't work so i must click manually every time.

The vehicles could have been made exciting. Such a waste of an excellent idea. It wouldn't be so bad if there was some way to open them in-game. A weekly (bi-weekly even) lockbox allowance or SOMETHING to counter the obvious grab for money. I guess using the Q-exchange this can be done but it's not quite the same. I think that's why Freeform slots were set so high, to prevent Q-farmers from getting them easily (which is ridiculous logic because if the price was lower, we might have a larger population right now >.>). Either way, every turn Cryptic has had to make Champs flourish, they choose the dollar signs and it's just sabotaging them and cheating us.
I say stuff and I say things, sometimes together but only when I'm feeling adventurous.

You do realize the only change they are likely to make to the gamble box drop rates is to make them drop more often, correct?

Dollar, dollar, bill, yo. Cash rules everything around you and me.
I passive-aggressively refuse to even pick the damn things up. It gets really annoying when there are two loot drops right next to each other- I swear the lockboxes have a larger looting radius than normal drops.
Maybe they should have a lockbox vendor that buys lockboxes back. You can only sell them by the 999 stack for a few merits Silver Champs ofcourse or they can be traded to the vendor say two stacks of 999 for one key to unlock a box. It would give people in game a reason to actually pick them up without making the purchase of keys from the Zstore completely obsolete.

Saw a few around Ren Cen this morning while I was flying laps on Snow. They're still used, they just aren't very popular (nor even very useful). I am given to understand they make a nice fast travel power for lowbies or people who don't rank their travel power; or at least faster than the unranked travel powers anywise.

Vehicle lockboxes should drop at 1/10th to 1/20th of their current rate, with better rewards. Cryptic would sell a lot more cosmic keys over the long term if lockboxes were rarer and more valued.

I don't rank my travel powers at all, but yeah, I could do without seeing the lockboxes. I like the vehicles, and am particularly waiting for the hover bikes to actually come out
But...ya know, I stopped paying attention to loot tables a long time ago and only wear either Q scaling gear, or Silver recog gear. All that other stuff can fly down a toilet aka gets sold to npc.
As long as they are adding new vendors how about simply removing the drops completely and adding a simple free box dispenser in ren center.

While an interesting idea, unfortunately I don't think it will ever happen. Since the boxes are drops they are always in our face and we can't just ignore them (which is the entire point of the obnoxious mechanic).

I'm in the same boat of never accepting them. I've had boss defeats that drop more than one item, and the first item? Yup. ******n lockbox. So, I accept it, but delete it immediately.
Perhaps I should be just deleting them out of spite to make me feel better? Naaaaaahhh.
At least there's still one thing they haven't done:
In STO some missions give you the option of taking a lockbox instead of a gear reward.
I'm not sure why since it's pretty impossible to get to that window without having 2 drop on the way. But hey, if you had three keys burning a hole in your pocket and didn't want to gank one more schmo that reward option is there for you.
To be fair, the leveling zones are abandoned, and you can't use vehicles in alerts... so where would we get an opportunity to see one anyway? The two I mentioned above were just idling in rencen.
Buying a vehicle in this game is analogous to buying a top-of-the-line sports car to drive to the end of your driveway to get the mail.

I got a jet from someone who didn't want it. Right now, Blackwing is using it as a fast travel power because part of her schtick is that she has no real supernormal powers, and her Acrobatics TP isn't always the quickest way to get across Canada or the Desert. I'm assuming that's how most people are using them, because I've yet to see a vehicle in combat outside the Sky Command mission. (Is that still going on, by the way? I haven't checked lately...)

I ran a test and found out I can use my tank in the outdoor missions on Whiteout.
On the other hand, I'm not entirely sure if I should've tried hand-to-hand fighting instead. It took me a while to whittle down the Roi'nesh. On the other other hand, I still love Heavy Cannon's knockback.

I figure they're using it to travel and then becoming themselves again at their destination.
Or they're just killing everything so quickly my computer doesn't have time to render it.
