So here's a cool new idea they should implement. Let our characters get jobs! Not something like working for Until, but more common jobs. Remember how one of the first quests there was in the game had you putting on a disguise as like a hotdog vendor or something? Well I thought that was one of the most fun and exciting moments in the entire game, and I think it needs to be expanded upon.
Basically, it would work something like this. First you overhaul some of the existing buildings in various zones to serve as "job nodes". You then go to that job node and get your character a job; let's say for example bank teller. Then you walk to the "job zone", which in this case would be located behind the counter. There would only be a limited number of job zones, which would be a good way to get players to spread themselves out among the various available jobs, rather than everyone just trying to do the fotm job.
You would then interact with npcs in the expected manner; as a teller, npcs would come up, make deposits and withdrawels, ask about opening new accounts, and all that sort of stuff. Then, for every hour that you engage in this task you are awarded a "paycheck" of questionite and resources, and depending on the job you might even get gear/vehicle mods.
This would allow for a greater level of immersion and roleplaying potentiol for our characters, helping us to truly integrate them into the game world.

Didn't CoH have something like this originally? Where you had a "job" and could report to a contact before going offline? Anyway, something like the Duty Officer system in STO might be interesting, as well as a reputation system such as in STO or in WoW. WoW's old competing factions -- where gaining reputation in one would cause you to lose reputation in the opposing faction -- might be interesting as well, to a limited extent.

Not quite. CoH had a "day jobs" system (eventually).
Logging off in certain areas (like the market, or your SG base, or a PVP zone, etc) would build you credit towards a day job badge.

If that was one of the most exciting and fun moments of the game for you, it either says something very strange about you or something very very sad about the game.
Dr Cerebellum's day job is fixing the problems injustices and disasters of ordinary humanity using reason and science! And Volterrific Pink Lightning! No secret identity.
But i do have other charecters with secret identities.
A choice of jobs might include a log-in instance where we could get our alerts and missions and rush off from and go to when we log off so we load in from there again next time, a small interactive little bit of setting that could enrich the gaming experience. That i'd totally support.

Okay guys, I see that a lot of you were less than impressed with my first idea. But worry not! I have an even better idea that will no doubt have you frothing at the armpits to type "/signed", possibly even twice.
Okay. So picture this. You know that area to the west of rencen that used to have all those starting quests, but now is pretty much just empty? Okay, how about a quest that takes place there again! And this is how it would go. You go and talk to a contact, and they tell you that they believe that a random villian has maybe planted evil plants on the lawns in that park, and that you have to watch the grass to see if any evil plants grow! The grass itself would slowly get taller, and when it stops getting taller then you know that the danger has passed and you can turn the quest in.
Another idea I had that isn't very well developed ( but I'll keep working on it ) involves a building being re-painted somewhere in town, and police chief harrison thinks he saw some destroids messing with the buckets of paint. So he sends you to watch the paint as it dries to make sure nothing bad happens. Like I said I haven't developed this one very well... I think it might be better if there are also sheep walking past and you have to keep count of how many there are. Not sure.
Anyways, who's on board?
/signed, right?

Basically they were an encouragement to alt more frequently, rather than grinding a single character.
