The clones are a liability and they don't have the resources to track and crack them all.

Not likely. It's already been upheld in court that a MMO is not liable for what it's players make in game. Marvel had that suit thrown out si, they can't make another one. There's a lot of clones of CoH signature characters right now but, NCSoft can't really sue for that seeing as they were the ones being sued last time.
As I said before. The Cryptic Devs were pretty straight forward is saying that those pages wold not be able to be ported over tot eh new website. its all in the coding.
Our character pages allow us to advertise the game by sharing our characters over social media. It's a simple investment. So to is returning some way for us to easilly share our costume files over the forums.

Marvel and NCSoft settled out of court, its not the same as it being thrown out of court.
Having settled out of court they have no binding legal rule for them not to sue Cryptic again, and now
they have all the power of Disney behind them, don't mess with the Dark Side.
The only thing they 'lost' in court was the claim that Statesman could be confused for Captain America.
A take down notice to the ISP for copyright violation doesn't require a court order to pull the switch and take the website offline. It also doesn't look good if people can point a finger at your company and say "They promote theft, just look at their website"
Regarding characters that are copyright/trademark violations:
This should be fairly simple to solve (though IANAL).
1) Include a paragraph in the EULA (if it's not already there) to the effect that players are solely responsible for any such violations that they commit.
2) Include a paragraph on each character (and Nemesis) page to the same effect, with an instruction that any reported violations will be deleted.
If I recall correctly, looking at people's characters through the old Champedia function included the option to one-click report infringing characters. If anything, bringing the page back with that functionality intact would make it even easier to address the clone/copyright/trademark issue.
I certainly miss that specific light used in bio camera shot which cannot be reproduced in game, especially with that awful greenscreen which was basically a good idea but has the blandest light ever
Suggestion : why not give the option in tailor's green screen to choose different lighting? : desert, aquatic (from below), nightime, etc?

It was stated a long time ago that most of GMs time was taken up tracking down
and dealing with clone reports. We don't have any of those GMs to do that job anymore.
The programmers and artists didn't sign on to be copyright nannies.
I don't think copyright violation issues was the reason these were removed, anyway. They vanished at the same time that the board and website software was changed. That suggests that it was just a matter of functionality. What we're asking for here is a return of this particular function.
Yes, the reason the function was removed was because apparently Cryptic's servers don't play well with PW's. Now that the login servers are supposedly integrated, however, does that mean that someday we get to use CORE Connect like the other PW subjects?
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"

I so hope so. I really miss being able to show off my characters and to look through other peoples. I used to see such inspiring and cool characters!

You mean the ones that were pretty glitchy and never upto date? Yeah I do actually miss those and the poses you could put your character in.
I also miss being able to see your friendslist and who was currently on at the time.
But I believe they stated the programming for it could not carry over due to coding or something.
What??
And playing by myself since Aug 2009

(I'd also love to see links on each of these to similar pages for our Nemeses, with the same ability.)

When they came for our character pages, nobody said anything.
When they came for our entire forum, nobody said anything.
...wait... my mistake, people were actually quite vocal about that stuff. Nevermind people, just go back to what you were doing...
::Is totally not distracting you as a bunch of PWI execs stuff your character pages and join dates into lockboxes::
