Since the inception of alerts I was always baffled by their level being set to 30.
Recently I've been playing my pet master a lot and a few things became apparent to me.
It really stinks being lv 40 and having to repeatedly summon all 6 pets every time I enter a new alert every 2 minutes If I decide to play an afternoon of alert runs.
Let me run down a few points about this:
1) Players above lv 30 (specifically lv 40s) already have no worthwhile reward for bothering to run alerts beyond their daily 3 alerts for questionite. Making alerts lv 40 would at least offer lv 40 gear drops for their effort.
2) Players under 30 would likely not notice any difference between being sidekicked up to 30 or being sidekicked up to 40, so there's no reason NOT to raise their level.
3) Folks who have lots of pets, I.E. "pet masters" would probably love the quality of life improvement that would end the tedious summoning sequence that needs to be done repeatedly when running several alerts in a row. This is especially noticeable on timed alerts where every second counts.
4) Lastly, this point has less to do with lv and more specifically to do with burst alerts. Pets are horrible during burst alerts due to their inability to get properly boosted along with the players. They remain unboosted most of the time and thus die in seconds and do almost no noticeable damage because of this.
In closing, I think this is a mostly low hanging fruit type of issue that the Devs can change rather easily. Point #4 is probably a more involved fix but one can hope right?
Thanks for reading.

Why not just scrap the auto-sidekicking, and instead make Alert enemies use the scary monster tech instead?

Why not make all the Alerts with the 'Monster Tech', it scales to your level, rewards and all.
Since the AirShipRaidThingie, should have been 'Monster Tech', but what i heard it isn't, and lowbie level 6's can get in.

I'm not sure I've ever really gotten gear out of alerts... and once I'm level 40, I have all my purps from Unity missions less than a week later, so dropping lvl 40 gear wouldn't mean much beyond the vendor/auction value. That said, I'm always happy to have more resources.

Logic would tell you this... but the way that the sidekicking system works right now in alerts would lead me to believe that sidekicking players up to lvl 40 would turn them into dps-spewing aggro-ripping machines with paper-thin defenses. Personally, I'm not sure why they didn't use that neat "skull level" that special event mobs have.. you know, the mobs that scale to your level? That way they wouldn't need to scale the players at all, just have the mobs scale instead which seems to work better.

I've gotten gear. It's been universally green and level 30 and completely useless. And I thoroughly agree with the idea of skull-levelling minions and bosses in alerts. Much smarter than the current system.

I've gotten drops, normally greens, occasionally blues, and on rare occasions purple secondaries. Unity Gear is great, but those are primaries and many folks balk at the idea of trying to get Vigilante secondary gear and settle on dropped purple secondaries which are good enough.

I'm 100% for anything that fixes the problems previously outlined with the current alert levels. I only proposed what I thought would be the simplest solution, not necessarily the best solution. If a more involved solution could be implemented by the Devs that required more time and resources I would love that, but realistically, this game is barely chugging along in maintenance mode. I'd rather have a quick fix that addressed "some" of the issues than no fix waiting on one that addressed "all" of the issues.
The benefit of my proposed fix is that if one day they get around to doing a proper fix then there isn't anything major to undo other than a simple number change in their spreadsheets.
EDIT:
I forgot to add, while I'm here, can we do something about lv 40 smash reward? XP is meaningless to lv 40s. Perhaps some simple code that grants the normal XP reward if you are lv 1-39, and some other reward if you are lv 40. How about a Recognition token, or some pocket change like a few nationals, or even to keep in theme with granting a performance buff like XP gain, how about a currency gain buff that lasts just as long, say an extra 5% for the same duration. I mean anything at all would be an improvement to what is essentially nothing at all.

I, and others, asked this very question during the build up to On Alert without ever getting an answer.

Yeah... there was only a lot of talk about it in the PTS. Talk which the developers in charge BLATANTLY chose to ignore.
Still you have to wonder why not do it now...
