Can we drop the term CoX refugee :/

This term CoX refugee can we stop using it. It just doesnt make sense as most people on these forums that play CO be them CO vets be them "CoX refugees" started their toons in City of Heroes. Its doing a terrible disservice to all of us that love City of Heroes.

CoX was a great game ( though I must admit I did nickname it City of Minecraft and to be fair I did say that in CoX chat first XD ) played it from its launch to its end enjoyed every minute of it. It will go down as the BEST GAME FULL STOP I ever had the privilege to play .

The CoXers that are coming to STO and CO arent refugees they are heroic types looking to fight evil ( ima cool with that as long as said evil isnt mummified cats ). People looking for new battles after a job well done in Paragon City. These are not people looking for a safe haven.

I think the term refugee is really for awful real life situations when people are in real need.

Signed a long time CoX player.

PS. Theres a life lesson here with my City of Minecraft jokes. Dont poke fun at the things you love have fun with them while you can everything comes to an end.

Got to agree on the terminology. However, from what I have seen the folks from CoHx seem to want to have something to differentiate themselves as a group and keep some sense of cohesion. Perhaps a more positive tittle is in order?

In fairness the difference is some of us came here by choice (some of us years ago) and had made this our home already, while others didn't have a choice and had to flee catastrophe and ended up here after a meteor called NCsoft destroyed their city.

yeah that pretty much hits the nail on the head. eventually we'll stop using it, but a lot of us are still in that refugee mindset of trying to find a new "home". I mean, the game only closed 4 days ago.

Or, well here's some advice from the last CoX Refugee thread.

    Immigrants.

But let's treat them better than the real world version.

In no way, shape, or form was I a hero!

I was a doer of evil deeds, a villain, a conqueror, and above all else, a monster.

I don't agree. CoH refugee doesn't have a negative connotation to me, it just explains a truth: new players that mostly played CoH until their game was destroyed.

Sorry Nepht, I disagree with this topic. If anything saying CoH refugee to me means they've got a leg-up on experience over your average newbie (although trying to describe "average" in this context is subjective).

Bottom-line, CoH refugee to me is more positive than negative. And eventually they'll simply become "Champions Online players", and the past will fade away.

In fairness the difference is some of us came here by choice (some of us years ago) and had made this our home already, while others didn't have a choice and had to flee catastrophe and ended up here after a meteor called NCsoft destroyed their city.

Refugee - One who flees their home in times of war or natural disaster.

Ok, if they were here before CoX closed then they should not be termed a refugee. But if they are only here because of the closure, I fail to see how the term does not apply. And most of us that started in CoH did so because it launched first.

I'll tell you what, I'll personally stop using the term when I stop reading, "CoX was better because of <insert whatever here>."

If they're here they must be heroes now (excluding RP) since we don't have any villain content. In other words I call people what they are and try not to get hung up on what they were (if that makes sense).

Those that know me from chats know I always come in and say "greetings heroes" as my greeting so I was referencing that. I call everyone a neutral term with no negative connotations and nothing gender, race, creed, etc. specific.

    We are all heroes here.

what about those of us who formerly played CO inbetween months of playing CoX.

Last login for my CO acct was Feb 2011. so...500+ days last played :(

To be entirely fair I'm on the fence about resubbing to CO, granted the non sub sucks, and they could use more archetypes that weren't pay to use (what's the point of non freeform archetypes if you HAVE to pay money to get them in the first place, might as well just subscribe..), but during my subscription I found myself bored, really bored.

I could only take The Desert or The Wilds of Canada for so long, and most of my characters are around 25-30 so..yeah, bored out of my mind with it.
