UNTIL Sky Command defense: How to WIN!

Having problems with the Command defense? Trust me, you aren't the only one. Here's how to do it.

Step 1. Procure a Prototype Command Jet OR buy a customizable vehicle and the two healing 'weapons' from the Q-Store. In total they're 180k Q. Alternatively, be a good healer or find one to get in your team.
Step 1 and a 1/2. When the alert begins, pick up an UNTIL Hover Disc and use it.
Step 2. With your vehicle (or your healer) station yourself on one of the attack points, ie Odd engines (1, 3, 5, 7), Even engines (2, 4, 6, 8) and the Ventilation Scoop. Do not leave your post. Attempt to assign at least one other person to help defend the attack points. Since the alert is for ten people, I would advise dividing the up into three groups. Three people for Odds, three people for Evens, and four people for the Ventilation Scoop.
Step 3. Whenever you notice the thing you're defending is halfway down, switch to your vehicle and heal it up... or just heal it up normally with your normal healer.
Step 4. When you have finished healing your objective, turn off your vehicle and jump back on your hover disk to continue fighting normally. If you're on a healer character, you can skip this step because you should ALWAYS be on the hover disk.
Step 5. When the Mega Destroid arrives, don't panic! Let your escorts go kill the Mega Destroid. It appears most of the enemies go up there anyway, so you should be able to maintain the engines and scoop with little difficulty after the Mega Destroid lands. DO NOT LET THE MEGA DESTROID FLY. STAY CLOSE.

If you're quick on the switch and don't dawdle around, you should be able to maintain all three areas of the Sky Command ship and you'll do PERFECTLY! Remember, ALWAYS use the UNTIL Hover Disk, because it is always at max flight speed, even in combat. Only use your vehicles to drop a heal drone and top off engine/scoop health with the Biosteel ray.

Odd, when I did it we won, and I don't know that anyone was on a hover disk. There were, as I recall, three Hawkwings, and the rest of us could fly. There were still two engines left at the end.

    More strategy:

    - Activate the 3 turrets on deck at the start of the mission by interacting with the consoles

    - Healers pull a lot of aggro when the start healing engines, be ready to tank for them

    - Heal both sets of engines at once by flying underneath the carrier between the engines

    - Don't become so focused on the Mega D that you fail the main objective, keep those engines and vent alive

I took this advice as well as others, funnily enough Iniquity + AoRP + Proc field were all I needed and we won both times round on my Alara the Light Guardian.

It's just a matter of getting your bearings and working as a team.

I pull tons of agro for healing to I had to use threat wipe alot.

Its a shame we couldnt take down Mega D + heal because I am sure we would have

Making friends with a good healer will significantly up your odds.

So does playing this at lvl 40 and not lvl 7.

Well, I've had maybe a dozen winning runs and I've seen the Mega D go down once. I didn't even see it happen, I was under the ship, healing engines, but consdering we still had almost 4 minutes left on the clock I'd say there was some major firepower involved

    More strategy:

The deck is easy to defend, kill Black Talon, his escort despawns, kill the Helicopter, its escort despawns. One or two good players can hold the deck with minmum fuss, everyone else should defend the engines.

Engines are not easy to defend, the attack is spread out, there is no handy despawn button, and the whole thing is chaotic and three dimensional. Bring lots of AOEs.

    After Mega D shows up:

    - Black Talon continues to attack the vent, so someone needs to be on him all the time.

-Small groups of Destroids attack the engines (even side, unless those are all gone) so someone needs to keep on top of them. Healer needs to pay attention to the vent and even side engines at this time.

    - If possible, kite Mega D away from the vent so his AOEs don't smash it.

    This.

Dr. Kaufmann (DPS) was able to defend the ventilation scoop alone, while three people were at each side dealing with the engines and the other three fought against the Mega-Destroid.
What's convenient here is that the Black Talons always come from the same direction and even stop on the same spot. Turrets, mines and AOEs placed there make it easy to defeat the Black Talon before it even summons its Destroids. The same goes for the lone helicopter attacking.

Will be good if more people read the forum and pick up these strategies. It is good to have skilful players who have success to share their experience with the other players. I always end up having to run to and fro to help other areas instead of just guarding my own station. Then after a while quitters leave the whole mission shorthanded and failing.

The engines are easy to defend. I think the main thing that causes difficulty is the inertia of that disc thingy. I can't currently use a flight power, so I had to use the disc thingy.

First time I did it, we won because the guy who did have an AoE could place it at a distance. I had a single-target attack and knocked the heck out of them. xD

Second time I brought an AoE, but I had to place myself within range, which is harder to do with inertia. The second time I played, there were less experienced players than the ones I played with before. The 3D aspect and depth perception wasn't too bad, but it was with the disc.

I haven't read anyone's experiences about it but I thought it was fun. I haven't been doing alerts below 40 lately....

This is the easiest way to do it, yes. Mine is quite capable of positioning herself at the vent, keep it healed and kill everything that gets close to it. Now if only people would keep the engines alive ...

It's not much better at any other time. Kind of sad, this is the first new permanent content added to the game since Whiteout, and it's actually GOOD, but noone queues so I almost never get to do it :frown:

ONe power that is excellent for Command Defense is Lead Tempest, srsly, you can take out alot of enemys with that power and cover a wide area, also as a somewhat off topic note abouthe mission, does anyone think that the GIANT FLOATING DESTORYER BASE in the background is hinting at something BIG comming our way :o
