In a rare moment of motivation, I'm trying to counter my overwhelming bitterness and resentment over the current state of the game and the devs'/publishers' attitude towards PvP with Doing Things and Nefarious Plotting. Once upon a time, we used to come together on a regular basis and do PvP nights. (It was Thursday nights for a while, and then it turned into Drunken PvP Saturday with the Saikashuu, and...stuff? Don't expect me to remember things when I was blitzed 95% of the time.) I miss that time. It made me feel, for the briefest of moments, like we had a community that wasn't full of people convinced they had lightsabers in their pants, elitists, and victims.
I want that feeling back, dammit! I want to spin my camera around all fast and realize that the people I'm getting digitally violated by are decent human beings, and we're all out to have fun.
Unfortunately, Cryptic screwed the pooch when they changed the queue mechanic, and we have to work with less-than-stellar tools at the moment. So! Here's what I propose:
Pick a night. Any night. Then pick a time. For the sake of discussion, we'll say Wednesday Nights at 6pm server. We pick a zone, and announce it in COPvP. Say...the Desert. Everyone who wants to come play picks up, rolls off to the desert, and we set up camp in the little irradiate-infested parky bit inside Greenskin. Teams of five are formed, team duels are issued, and face punchings are had. Locations can be rotated to create interesting line of sight games, environmental hazards, and opportunities for showing off to the laydeez.
Ideally, SG wars get left at the door. PvP nights are about uniting the community, not driving us all further apart, or setting us at one another's throats worse than we already are. Oh, and increasingthe visibility of the PvP end of the game, and hopefully roping in some new blood.
And yes, I will be there proudly repping Team Drunkard.
Come on. You know you wanna relive all those "Oh god, don't let her have any more" moments of PvP Confessionals. ^_^
This is a good idea. Sometimes random encounters with strangers leave me feeling unsatisfied, and I yearn to be digitally violated by people I know more intimately.
This week? It didn't. I'm at the annoying part of moving across a couple states and haven't touched a video game in daaaaays. <- best read in whiny emo teenager voice
I just want to get the ball rolling on future events. You know, when I'm not sitting cross-legged on the floor in a big empty room with my laptop balanced on the edge of a rubbermade packing tote and the whole neighborhood staring at me throwing stuff around because I had to take my curtains down.
If it remains something around 6 PM, it's fine for me. I may not have troubles sleeping but still. Last time it happened the only thing that kept me awake was DM's vocabulary and your screams.
One thing positive I can say about hero games is now most of the newbies/leeches are gone, since there's nothing to leech and less people to leech from; the combatants are generally enthusiasts from before, thus they have a higher degree of skill since people from the general population don't join much anymore.

PvP: Unpopular.
Goal: Achieved.
See, I told you guys Cryptic was doing it right. You all tried to act like I was wrong, but here we are, a few months later, with your chief pvp community representative pretty much saying yay about the end result of cryptic's brilliant plan for pvp.
Now let's hope they don't mess it up by implementing pvp rewards.
Champions Online: Be the hero you wish you could be in a better game.
Actually, everything's unpopular, not just hero games. Only thing people do is alerts over and over again so they can get to 40 and power-level the next alt. Seems like both the missions and hero games have fallen into obscurity.
