Unarmed Martial Arts Build

I've been wanting to do an update of the unarmed martial arts build first posted by ashensnow (f/k/a Ashen_X) in February of 2011.

That build worked great for me. I generally play solo, and I don't PvP. I'm not a terribly good player, so I need builds that are forgiving enough to let me survive even if I make mistakes.

Here's my attempt at an update. I replaced Resurgence with Smoke Bomb, because I felt the build already had sufficient heals, especially if I equip some Presence and +Heal gear. (Plus, disappearing in a puff of smoke is just plain cool.)

I'm not sure if replacing the original build's Constitution super stat with Strength and Intelligence secondary super stats was a good or bad idea. I'm having problems fully testing this build on the test server right now.

Let me know what you think. (Again, this build is intended for solo PvE play.)

It didn't work out that well. The more I played with it, the more I ended up moving towards Ashen's original build. Here's what I ended up with, which works very well:

    PowerHouse (Link to this build)

    Name:

    Archetype: Freeform

    Super Stats:
    Level 6: Dexterity (Primary)
    Level 10: Strength (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents:
    Level 1: The Master
    Level 6: Covert Ops Training
    Level 9: Paramilitary Training
    Level 12: Impresario
Level 15: Jack of All Trades
    Level 18: Discipline Training
    Level 21: Survival Training

    Powers:
    Level 1: Righteous Fists
    Level 1: Inexorable Tides
Level 6: Thunderbolt Lunge (Nailed to the Ground) (plus Essence Assault*)
Level 8: Dragon Kick (Rank 2, Lashing Dragon Tail)
Level 11: Lightning Reflexes (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 14: Form of the Master
Level 17: Bountiful Chi Resurgence (Rank 2, Resurgent Reiki)
Level 20: Burning Chi Fist (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 23: Evasive Maneuvers (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 26: Intensity
Level 29: Bionic Shielding (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 32: Parry (The Elusive Monk)
    Level 35: Masterful Dodge
    Level 38: Smoke Bomb

    Travel Powers:
Level 6: Swinging (Rank 2, Rank 3, Flippin')
    Level 35: Acrobatics (Rank 2)

    Specializations:
    Dexterity: Combat Training (2/3)
    Dexterity: Gear Utilization (3/3)
    Dexterity: Evasion (2/2)
    Dexterity: Quick Reflexes (3/3)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: Tenacious (2/2)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Modified Gear (2/2)
    Mastery: Dexterity Mastery (1/1)

    * I couldn't include it in the PowerHouse build because PH incorrectly lists the cost as 3 advantage points; it actually costs 2 advantage points.

EDIT: The new Travel Power "Ninja Vanish" looks cool and wasn't available at the time I created the build. If it had been, I'd probably have used it instead of Acrobatics as my second travel power, and I'd primarily use it to escape a bad fight. That would make Smoke Bomb mostly redundant for my purposes. I'd probably consider replacing Smoke Bomb with Shuriken Throw -- Chained Kunai, as in Ashen's original build.

Note: Anybody wanting to try this build from level 1 (or level 6) should start out with Thundering Kicks instead of Inexorable Tides, and then, at level 8, drop Thundering Kicks and replace it with Inexorable Tides. Otherwise, the build is almost unplayable until level 8.

Am going to respec into your build...also, do you find that LR works better than lets say Invulnerability in terms of mitigating damage?

For this particular build, LR works better for me than Invulnerability because my Dodge and Avoidance stats are so high.

I love Invulnerability, though. See my Might build, for example.

By the way, the build in this thread is a slightly older version of the Martial Arts build. Here's the final version.

one thing stood out to me, parry+adv will hit diminishing returns from lightning reflexes, look into energy shield+laser knight.
