I've wanted to do and participate in "high action PvP" for a while now, instead of watching people fly around throwing Ebon Ruins at each other. but I am a concept builder stuck in her ways :P.
What is the general basis for PvP builds now? I have absolutely no idea on how to do one, but I'm seriously considering making one char, who can offer more than just being a punch bag for everyone else like the rest of my chars
I want to make a TK Blader Melee char and perhaps a ranged build for PvP.
Your best bet is to ask PvPers in-game. In general STR/Con/Int works well with AoPM or offensive passives. Int/Con/whatever works well with defensive passives. Min/Max your power selection, I.E. Actives OR Bubbles, depending on your 100ft ranged spike attack. You don't need more attacks than a spike, a stun, and a knock. Fit a NTTG/CC in there somewhere as well. Good luck.
On absolutely EVERYTHING you may have wanted to do, this is the only one nobody can help you with. No matter how you stat this thing, you'll lack the damage output to even put a small fight against most of clowns out there (Think of 2x 3k max for the most damaging setup against a Juggernaut specced AoPM clown which is far from enough).
Now. The REAL base for a PvP build includes INT and STR and CON. If you happen to not have superstatted all of these 3, you must at least raise them to a fair level.
Then the defenses, Masterful Dodge is a must, along with another active defense of your choice. A heal, Conviction is the mainstream one, others tend to use BCR on top of it.
Whatever your attacks and combos are, the offense must include AT LEAST: a knock of some sort, a damaging attack, Nailed to the Ground, and Crippling Challenge. Extra control like roots and holds/stuns are fine if you can afford it.
There, that's your base, the absolute minimal requirements.
I wouldn't expect to find much for pvp at all these days.
I was one of the last holdouts left - and I'm gone, last few times I've logged in, the HG has been a ghost town.
There were a few more still around - but some drastic changes would need to take place in order to restore pvp to its former glory. It's been pretty clear that for PWE pvp doesn't appear to be profitable.
The sad thing is that an active pvp base will spend plenty if they feel prices are reasonable. Just look at the success LoL has had as a F2P - it's definitely profitable and there's never a shortage of players, paying ones or not.

instant idea: PvP lockboxes, contains Legion's Malvan gear, drops from killing players in HGs, go make money, PWE ~_~

LoL? Heck look at TF2, look at any PvP based F2P game, they make a killing on players who want to kill eachother. Why? Because PvP is always Unique.
Two things that would benefit CO the most without doing constant content updating, the Foundry and a PvP update. Those are also very profitable.
LOL. i Kid. I really hope you can make a build that works for you at what you intend to do. If you do make a FoTM try to keep one of my old favs for our little league
1. Get a good heal or two atleast
2.Have minus travel disable and block disable
3.Something to stun/hold/root target or all 3 or 2 of three.(KB helps knockback is kb)
4. Grab masterful dodge great power and maybe get yourself resurgence if your con build.
If you want to make a EGo blader toon you need few things
1.Gota get ego surge with adv for more crit.
2.Get yourself alot ego going to max out ego blade damage
3. get yourself legion primary offence with all crit chance mods
4.Get critical serverity to 100-115% easly done with certain builds.
5. Run str/con/ego with as much plus rech mods on your alt or remove ego and add int then add ego on some gear but **** int get ego over it and alot plus rech on utility gear.
Str primary has power called juggernot turns all con into defence grab vindicator to turn all offence into defence 20% of that offence into defence. and get Warden with turn 100% defence into offence. With those setups you should have high resistence and some really decent hp rolling.
Many more ways to go bout it but for pvp there is no best build there are builds not even done yet that are really good Ice being one of them it should be a FOTM. For one thing ice hardfrost crits can kill dodgers... if you can survive the dps that is.
Wow, I had no idea PvP builds just threw random powers together xD
But thanks a ton for the advice guys!
I'm so used to dying I might fall of my chair if I win a duel
I've got a sort of PvP build it is melee UA build but uses Quarry, I am thinking of switching back to LR though but meh.
Quick Question though...how much INT do you need to see through stealth? Or is it all down to sensory stone of the Takoface?
Also regarding DEX, one of my chars had 370 DEX and used Night Warrior Passive as NA AT, and still someone with 250 INT could see past it and attack if I was within around a 25ft radius perhaps? I recall having to crawl around the edges of the PvP bubble in order to stay stealthed
How much Dex do I need to make stealth good? Or rather how can I play smarter for it to last ;o
300 Int and one Perception item, or 200 Int and two Perception items.
I'm pretty sure Dex doesn't factor into Sneak. Their Int perception does, though, and since everyone's bringing SS Int, you're probably better off not using Sneak and just tapspamming Ricochet Throw or grabbing someone with Bolas and Strafing Running them.

If I'm ever log in I'd be more than happy to throw a fight if you want to fall of that chair =P
300Int plus one LEGACY perception item (ie legacy secondary like takofanes sensory stone or whatever it was called) the perception mods end up requiring more INT so 300 INT and a malvan emblem isn't enough without an additional percep core.
Dex has no factor in regards to stealth in along those lines - dex's impact affects aggro radius for pve that kinda thing.

heh Yeah I'm surprised you've never observed anybody dueling. Their "Franken-builds" always look goofy to me, which is why I always base all my characters on some kind of concept. I saw one melee build that was still mixed up, but it looked kinda cool watching them fight, like dragon ball Z or something. :P So, even pvp builds can be thematic, but they don't have to be.
I did make a very concept driven melee build: Rouge
full martial arts, but lacks HP but stacks a fair bit of dodge/avoid, puts up a reasonable fight in PvP though, nothing as powerful or insane as what I have seen though...
Comments
I'll hopefully be joining the PvP scene soon, then getting swiftly FC'd out lol
