Psst ? we've got one more sale for this week, and it's going to be a Black Friday blowout on Catalysts!
Catalysts help you upgrade your MODs, both those that boost your hero's own gear and those that grant vehicle powers. Depending on whether you use a Safeguard catalyst or a regular catalyst, they have one of two effects: Either they'll guarantee a rank-upgrade, or they'll keep you from losing MODs if the fusion-upgrade fails.
These upgrade supplements will be discounted 15% on Black Friday, running from 10 AM (Pacific) on 11/25 until 10 AM on 11/24. If you want better stats on your gear, make sure to get your catalysts on Friday!

Time is going backwards!!!
2012 is REAL!!!!
(lol, I believe that's a typo...)
oh shoot, got ninja'd.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
...the ultimate Contrast Moe (or not).
A lvl 40 spending a few minutes doing a burst alert gets 2 lvl 3 and 1 lvl 4 mods.
Buying catalysts to turn lvl 1s (for example) into 2 lvl 3s and a lvl 4 would take 3 rank 2 catalysts, 3 rank 3 catalysts and 1 rank 4 catalyst, or a cost of 5500 zen ($55) to save a few minutes of effort!
Even higher catalysts (ranks 5 to 9) though a lot more value for money are still ridiculously overpriced. To turn 1 rank 4 to a rank 9 would cost 10,200 zen ($102!!!)
If anyone pays these prices for catalysts they should be ashamed at wasting so much money!
I mean 600 zen ($6) to turn a rank 1 mod into a rank 2? REALLY??
Even if you never did anything to get mods yourself, anything under rank 5 costs peanuts on the ah, were talking a few gs tops.
SO a rank 4, a few gs, a few minutes of 'effort', or a rank 1 and $25 worth of catalysts... tough choice!
The Catalysts are certainly the most grossly overpriced items in the C-Store. 15% off of ridiculous is still ridiculous...
However, I just may grab myself a stack of Safeguards...
M-O-O-N, that spells @Rhyatt

Laws yes!
they would make money from quanity than single purchases, in a game that encourages alts
players will buy more and spend mor money if pricing is fair
personally i think grabbags and freeform slots are acceptable
LTS is also a bargain considering what you get
al catalysts should be changed inro a single rank up catalyst for 400zen
this catalyst would rank any catalyst up 1 rank
retcons should sell for 500 zen as well as retrains
i think TP should be 500 even and costume sets 400 for ease purposes
the boosts are ridicules how much for a mere 20% after so many 2x XP boosts in the game these boosters seem silly, other boosts just seem pointless
your largest demographic in this game are adults that know the value of their dollars.
i think it would be advantageous to play to that.
Should I purchase groceries that will last me for an entire month, or enough catalyst to rank up JUST ONE MOD to rank 9? This is the most outrageous joke I think I've ever seen pulled. It's just shameful, nothing more can be said. *shakes head in disbelief*
We expect better and we deserve better.
Cut the price in half and make 8 give +10 and 9 give +20, then I'd start seriously considering it.

No. Just... no. Maybe if I had a bunch of money to burn and a head injury, but not right now.

I'd certainly spend my Zen more frequently if it cost $10 to fix my character up with all R9 mods. Then with my character all geared out I can work on another, get them to 40 and spend Zen again to get R9 mods on that one too.
No.
The high price and lame sale of the Catalysts caused outrage from players, that power of epic rage then caused a Quantum flux to shoot out from the server, passed from our dimension through to the Cosmic String Fragment area, causing a Black Hole to change course, which passed at right angles to our star system, shifting the Earth 2.6 degrees to the left causing the Moon to shake a bit, which sent a Gravity Wave Pulse that altered the Earth's gravity field shifting it towards a speck of dust, that was catapulted across the room into Turtles coffee and thus causing a epic time warp at Cryptic.
That is if he was drinking coffee at the time, otherwise, it was just a typo.

I reckon the current prices on everything on sale should remain that way to increase buying.
But Catalysts are just insanely Overpriced, a business can only function when people are motivated to buy stuff, 15% sale may see a rise in safeguards but that would be about it I'd imagine. I can understand R8-R9 Catalyst Mods being high, but atm I can buy 1 FF slot + 2 Retcon Tokens for the price of 2 R9 Catalysts...wow, no deal IMO and thats based off current sale values.
PWE/Cryptic, whilst this sale is a good move, consider reviewing the prices on items, they tend to dissuade ppl from buying items which are useful.
If I said;
"Prices in Z-Store are quite steep"
I think I'd get my own Alert :

i would not want everybody to run around with full r9 mods. I've read that somebody mentioned 10 bucks per r9 "set", which is totally bs. If you go out and actually farm at least 1 r9 by yourself, you will notice that the price for it is too low. Besides, some of us have paid for their r9's already and it would be unfair to throw diamonds at pigs. If you like to get r9's fast try the harmon grab bags for 100z a pop, or as a wise man once said "Less QQ more, pew, pew."
Wow, must be nice to be a rich arrogant prick. Enjoying those 5 extra stat pts that you get from a rank 9 over a rank 5? Money well spent eh? Pfft.
Yeah Yeah, I'm banned. Go ahead, I don't even care anymore. When people start spewing this nonsense I don't even want to be apart of the community anymore. You sir made me sick, and I just ate a ton of Turkey too.
personal you want rank 7s spend your money on keys instead
Not even gonna bother with the Farnsworth link.
So...its just better to be rank 7'd out? LOL

As far as I know, they removed the Harmon Catalyst Grab Bags.
As to the rest of your point, actually there is every reason to decrease the price IF they aren't selling anymore. But who knows, really. I think a permanent decrease or a more substantial and lengthy sale would make them more accessible and tempting to those who have been resistant to the idea so far.
If I had to guess, I'd say the sale was testing the waters a bit, and that sales on the catalysts had probably gone down some due to the over-inflation of the mod market caused by the Tako lockboxes. Since buying rank 7s, even 8s, became much less expensive, and the sudden extremely valuable Legion items and legacy devices brought out a lot of horded Globals, not to mention create opportunity for saavy marketeers to profit via bartering skills, buying low, selling high, etcetera, thereby giving them even more G to pour into mods.
If they continue to make mods as accessible as represented by those times, even with erratic events, then the value of these store catalysts basically goes down, and they really should look into reducing the prices.
