Right its this time of the month again.

Its about time you give the vet players that you grandfathered in ( btw the ones I know say thanks for that .o/ ) their forum rights back. You have the list of those players somewhere and like I have said before its easy to let players back on the forum on a player by player basis. I am a mod on several linux forums and I know its easy to allow people from blocked regions back in in such a way.

So comon give them their voice back.

Give them their voices back. Them remaining silent is just one more reason I hate where Cryptic seems to be heading.

A lot of vets were silenced when they went public with serious bugs and exploits when the devs wouldn't do anything to fix them. The very same people that helped put the bug issues in the game and new patches to a minimum.

    We need those players back.

Not much to say here, except: signed. The forums should be a place where all players (at least, all the players who have paid Cryptic any money) should have a voice.

If this really happened then not only do those players need to be given their voices back, they need to get a formal apology from Cryptic.

I'll give you the short version.

When PWE took over Cryptic they implemented a region block on areas like China and Russia stopping players from those areas from accessing their websites even though those players can still play they cant buy zen of use the forums anymore.

It was going to be much worse they were going to block players from the actual game.

Slightly longer version: Apparently, Perfect World originally began with all their servers in that region of the world; later, when they began expanding to the West, they started a subsidiary, Perfect World Entertainment, to run servers in other parts of the world. For legal reasons, each part of the company ran its own servers, and people in those regions could only log into those servers.

Then PWE bought Cryptic, which only has the one server farm, in northern California. According to the way the corporation worked, people from the original area would be unable to log into the server in the US; had Cryptic been set up with multiple servers, one would have been in the PW region, and users would have been logging in through that into our shared virtual world. This, of course, is not how things work around here. However, corporations are slow to change, so the new reality has yet to be acknowledged at HQ.

Fortunately, the folks at Cryptic have been able to retain their original logon server, so anyone with an existing account from those regions can still log in through it. Sadly, since all new accounts have to be linked to PWE, we can't get any new players from those regions until this all gets straightened out, assuming it ever does...

At this point I feel it's already a lost cause, but /signed anyway.

Also, here's a blast from the past. How times have changed.

    Testing, testing.

Hey folks, sorry about not posting earlier but I honestly didn't expect anyone to really care at this point (or that I would be, apparently, the only person from a banned region who posts here). I wouldn't have even stumbled upon this post if morbid curiosity hadn't prompted me to look at the reaction to the latest content tweaks.

Short story long, it took me a little over a month to actually create a PWE account after a friend told me about the grandfathering due to constant errors (blocked region messages, "please enter password" messages, "your email is already in use" messages, etc. etc.), but by then I had already long stopped playing CO and reading the boards because... well, there wasn't really any point. There were no updates here (kudos to the customer support folks I hounded on a semi-weekly basis) and I couldn't really contribute anything, so my attention and passion drifted off elsewhere. I did poke my head into the private channels via pidgin once in a blue moon and logged in to collect my 500 day vet rewards, but it was disappointing the game had stayed largely unchanged - bugs and all - after three months of absence.

Well, except for lockboxes, but the fact that I didn't really care was telling enough.

Many thanks to everyone who supported customers from banned regions in the past year, I hope more speak up to show your efforts were not in vain, and wish you all the best of luck and a brighter future for CO.

Oh, yeah, that is something we didn't consider. Maybe some vet players from the blocked region have no interest in joining the forums and the game at all due the lack of updates, fixes and new content...

    Bummer... :(
