Gold players already get a 500 ZEN monthly stipend. I don't see why they would introduce a cosmic key stipend or increase the stipend amount because the ZEN store is their most important source of cashflow and they'd want people to actually buy ZEN points and not depend soley on the stipend.
I wouldn't mind a free key a month. I'm kinda surprised there's no way to get rare keys in-game. After trying one or two lock boxes players would want more, yea? Hrm, I guess there *is* the action house.

I am thinking because they are trying to earn money in such a questionable way maybe some goodwill could be expressed towards the paying customer base.
Heck I'll even take some published odds on what I am "investing" into.
But yeah something a little better than what has been handed to us would be great.
Keys can be bought in the AH.
Isn't that good enough?
By the way, I hate lockboxes, but the company needs money, and plenty of folks will spend money on them. If you don't want to spend real-world cash, grind Gs and buy them in the Auction House.

Very true but there are ways they could get money without alienating players that have been with the game from the start and players that are paying every month. They could start buy making monthly subs far more attractive.
Also they should release more paid content time and again people have said they would pay for expansions.
Of course as long as perfect world are dead set on all there games using the same model there's no hope of any of these things. which will probably spell doom for CO sooner rather than later.
Make the lockboxes drop less - the frequency is way too high. It's to the point I'm hardly willing to pick up drops knowing that its most likely just another lockbox.
for the odds of various prizes, several have done big test runs in test, including original poster and me on last page analysing runs of 1000 boxes.
I do appreciate the effort THE PLAYERS have put in to find out these numbers. I would however like to see this information officially published by the company who issues the product. Again it is the goodwill thing. Rather than skulking in the shadows like some questionable charlatan.

No, it is not good enough. I realize the game needs money. IMO this is not a good way to earn money. This is treating your customers like money cows. (did you all miss that the best gear and devices are now locked behind monetized chance? Apathy will kill us all I swear.)
There are also other ways than AH to earn keys.
Again the subject of the thread was to offer ideas on ways to soften the blow of having lockboxes in the game. One way could be to offer more ways to earn keys.

I agree with you...I bought the 10 keys from the z-store and literally in 1-2 missions, I have 14 boxes

You will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, see this. Never.
Which is why the players did the testing.
This is why lottery places don't post the chances of winning the jackpot (FYI, you have better odds getting struck by lightning twice in a 5 minute period and surviving than you do winning the jackpot). If you knew the odds, you wouldn't pay money to try to hit said odds.

I'm not fond of lockboxes either, but I'd hardly call them questionable. They're not a scam or anything, you know exactly what you're getting here.
They've also been around for a while now in STO and paying customers there haven't gotten anything special because of them, so don't plan on seeing anything here. You also see a lot less complaints about them there as well. Wither that means they've gotten used them or what I don't know.

Man, I wouldn't even mind the frequency at which they drop if they hadn't changed the way looting worked - instead of having one pick-up button per drop, now you just get ONE button on the screen at a time.
So if there are several drops close together (or stacked), and the one on 'top' is a takobox... you HAVE to pick it up, to get to the other items. That isn't cool.
I really wish, especially with these changes, that we had some auto-loot options. Just being able to auto-loot recognition and, sure, takoboxes too, would make looting a much less painful process.

Actually before THE PLAYERS published odds and a list of devices, we had next to zero idea of what to expect. Besides the vague description on the lockbox itself. They did half-assedly publish what could come out of the tako boxes, but no odds for each possibility and no detailed descriptions of the items/gear.
And (not pointed at you but someone else) where I am from the lottery corporation must publish the odds of winning. It's printed on each ticket, and also on scratch tickets. They won't sell less because you publish the odds, they sell because they prey on hope.
Personally I do not see how gambling is not a scam. A legal scam, but a way to scam you out of your money none the less.

Whoever you are, be that person one hundred percent. Don't compromise on your identity.

That's the whole point of Keys, 'Need To Buy More'.
