I actually gotta say, that third orange tank looks cool, but also, does the jet pictures mean we will see or at least be able to have the appearance of a jet with the new vehicles this week, besides having one of the old hawkjets?

I'm hoping that the Hawkwings will get some mod slots - perhaps not the ones that grant new powers, (since they already come with a full loadout), but perhaps ones for passive abilities and such.

I'm also very curious as to how the new vehicles will be obtained - will this be a C-Store only purchase, attainable via a mission, via a daily mission from a lockbox/chance box?

I am pretty sure it won't be, but am holding out hope that *everyone* will be able to obtain one in-game (and with a 100% chance).

Where are the details? I see five pictures and this short blurb of text:

What is Batman without the Batmobile? Wonder Woman without her invisible jet? The Fantastic Four without their?wait, it?s called the Fantasticar? Oh no.

In any case, a great ride adds style points to any hero, and your Champions Online character will be able to take up the fight against crime in a custom vehicle when the game?s next update goes live this week.

Vehicles will be customizable, with different chassis (that grant varied stats) upon which you can apply colorful skins. Initially, you?ll be able to choose between jets and hovertanks, but more models (like speeder bikes) are planned down the line. Your vehicle has several gear slots of its own that can be filled with mods, earned from the new vehicle missions.

While you?re waiting for the patch to drop so you can drive (or more likely, fly) off of the lot, we?ve got a full tour of the showroom lined up below. These are just a few of the possible variants.

Am I missing something? Is there a "next" or a "page 2" link I'm missing somewhere...

the jets o pts have 2 dinky modslots, that better not be it, or ill be displeased

As I've mentioned in the other threads, based on PTS, the old Hawkjets will get the following:

1) Be purchasable for 70 Drifter Salvage (but maybe not both designs at the same time).
2) They will have two mod slots and two weapon slots (so you can remove and change the weapons it normally has).
3) All currently owned Hawkjets will get the upgrade from #2 for free.

I have to admit, it really didn't say anything about the vehicles, but like a lot of others that second tank design was pretty neat. I'm a big fan of star wars, but i wasn't big on the "homage" style of the bike and tank, so seeing that they've added another style was a nice touch. hopefully we get a few more down the line.

The designs are pretty rad, my compliments to the artist(s) responsible.

Deffo looking forward to the helicarrier mission, too. I didn't get a chance to do that one on PTS, so I'll be there when it goes live. It looks really neat. I love that you guys are keeping variety as a key word for CO. To be honest, I still think that CO is one of the most varied MMOs out there - between Lemuria (the first truly underwater zone I've seen in an MMO), the alerts, the new helicarrier missions, the comic book series (Whiteout especially), and so on.

It would be nice to hear of upcoming things, though. Rally the troops, raise morale, and all that. Can we count on an UNTIL report any time soon? Some further information about that new zone (if you have it) would be amazing!

Anyway, thanks for keeping us posted, TT.

I'll be honest. It's going to take a lot for you guys to get me interested in this idea. I kind of wish you had poured all of your energy elsewhere, really, because my enthusiasm for your game is probably going to go downhill once it's no longer filled with superheroes flying around but futuristic vehicles instead. Millenium City will probably end up looking like Aeon Online. Furthermore, very few of my characters are going to want one of these. Why, for example, would a forest golem or a guy in a huge metal mecha need a vehicle?

Vehicles aren't for everyone. Also, it's very likely something's going to keep the number of vehicles down... like a 2,000 Zen price tag.

I'm hoping that they will removed the bound to account to the new and old vehicles (the current Hawkjets so I can sell/trade for the new ones). If they want to keep the bound they should be less 1000zen otherwise they should be like the becomes and not bound if they are more than 1000zen to allow trading.

All vehicle-related silliness aside, I'm more interested in what 'Reloaded' is going to bring to the table. If this is content and serious updates, I'm going to be happy.

However, if it breaks the game like every other serious patch, and countless bugs and such are cropping up non-stop... I coin the phrase 'Champions: Retarded' here and now.

Probably around or less than becomes, maybe even a little higher than TPs cost, but since the "Limited Edition" Hawkjets are gone, I'd think that cryptic wouldn't price new vehicles over the old 1500 Zen price tag

I fear the only thing Reloaded is going to bring is Vehicles and maybe a couple Alert-like Vehicle-"themed" missions.

Not really. It's pretty much the same difference between an archetype and a freeform character. Sure, the only difference is that one has all of the choices already made for you, but it's an important difference.

This should not be the expectation of a player - yet it is the experience and mindset more than just a few CO members have.

Champions Online: Reloaded better not be just the vehicle update.

"We have approximately one alert and a bunch of vehicles which cannot be earned in-game via character progress. You have to buy them via either giving us money or grinding the Q for them. No, there will not be any in-game story about your hero getting a vehicle. You buy it. Inventory. There. Done. It's so easy, it's instant!"

Can we PLEASE get some sort of free vehicle? Like a not-restored vintage car or a refurbished jet from Nighthawk's El Cheapo Rides? Unless it's a FULL EXPANSION, the major facet of the update should be instantly accessible so everyone can mess around with it.

Give basic vehicles out for free and incorporate them into new missions.

At the moment, -none- of them (based on what I last heard) display your character. They're all "become devices", in that they replace your character with another one that is slightly-less generic than typical become devices (if that's visual modification thing pans out as promised).

Also, there are so many good points in this thread that probably won't be implemented.... I believe that the vehicles SHOULD have a "in-game" way to be acquired, and also some sort of storyline beyond "hey new alert needs vehicles". I believe that "a vehicle" -isn't- a fit for every character/player, and so they probably won't "take over the game" as some (including myself, initially) feared. I believe that... Ugh. So much good in this thread, I won't bother repeating all of it. Somebody at Cryptic should just print this out & stick it on the lunchroom fridge. :biggrin:

For whatever reason, PC Gamer did a terrible job with this preview. There are two vehicles that DO show your character while riding them. You can even test them on PTS right this very minute if you're a Gold member.

I feel gibbed. This is the first become to arrive with "customizable powers" in other words, it's a become where you can change the powers around as if it's a whole new champion you can switch out of. How about a dual, triple spec for people that don't want to be jettisoning around in vehicles?

you think they would say that on the item page. i was worried that it would be per character or one per account like the nemesis gear, where you only get the one but you can transfer it between characters. It works perfect for the legacy gear, but it would be terrible for the vehicles.

Actually, Nemesis gear isn't one per account, you just can't have more then one on each character.

I got about four sets floating between toons.

At first, they are unbound and may be sold. But as soon as you equip it, it becomes account bound...

Yes, you only get one account wide per unlock, not one per character...

wow... that's really lame. These things are such a rip off if that's actually how they're being handled. For something like a piece of gear(made to help you level) you get with ingame currency it's a good idea, but for a new name changing addition to a game you can only get through the C-store, it seems like a terrible waste. you can't even change the appearance of the things. For that much money on an item that isn't even real, you think you'd get one for all your characters like in STO, but they wouldn't be sellable in the AH.

The more i hear about vehicles in general the less i like about them.
