Cape Glide Without the Cape

Sooooo, I was really excited about having the Cape Glide travel power. I've got a couple of heroes that really needed something like that.

Now, the thing I was hoping would we could pull off, we can't. And that would be gliding without the cape. What's up with the insta-cape?!

We now have 3 costume sets that give us wings attached to our arms and no travel powers that allow characters to fly with their arms extended out to the sides.

The pose is perfect for the Cape Glide. But the thing that kills, is having a cape appear from no where. This seems like a pretty big oversight. It's not like a jet pack springs out of your back when you use Jet Pack TP without one. So why should a cape suddenly appear?

I have a non-batman bat themed character I can't make yet, that could really use Cape Glide.....just not the cape part of it. I came off of my hiatus just to try it out.......

The issue here is that some people find the instacape useful for their character concepts, but I do agree that there needs to be provisions for capeless gliding.

Yeah, I can understand the insta-cape for some concepts. But we have costume parts that give us perfect "arm wings".

It's one of those times Champs at least needs an option with a "hide cape" check box. Something.

I think it should be more like weapons visuals. Give it a slot in the tailor under the weapons tab and let us select a default cape, even if its to have nothing there. My main character wears a trenchcoat, but the tattered cape goes great for traveling (shadow powers), but i don't want to have the cape on when not flying. It would be an easy thing for the devs to set up, and frankly it would add a lot of value to it as a noncombat travel power.

There should totally be a version without a Cape. And maybe an actual Flight version too, which would use the spread arms animation only while moving forward.

has there been any word on this yet or is it just "we got our money out of it so we're moving on"?

There REALLY needs to be a capeless version or a way to remove the default cape.

I just recently bought the Night Avenger archtype, and I bought the Halloween pack just for the bat wings on the sides (attached to the arms), expecting that Cape Glide will only show a cape if you actually have one as part of your outfit.
Then I find out it generates a default cape.
    What were they thinking?

I just played and got acrobatics instead. Though I am HOPING that they fix the travel power to have no cape when the character isn't wearing a cape.

If Champions Online fixes the cape issue, I'll purchase it for my second travel power for sure.

Yeah, seems like the devs missed a trick here. However, for your character there is a simple solution which currently works, you could set up a keybind which turns on cape glide and automatically changes your costume to one with a cape:smile:

They rarely reply to anything here, too many posts in general to reply to all the ones they see and also, if someone says something they shouldn't have they have to deal with the fallout from players later over it. If they saw and liked the suggestion, we'll see it in game sooner or later.

well still, it just kind of sucks that they wouldn't address any of the feedback about this power on any of the threads ive seen. Mostly because it would be nice to use it for the arm wings and such as well as the reasons every one listed.

Does it usually take them this long to fix stuff, or should we just give up on the cape glide? :frown:

I'm level 25 now, and I'm still eager to get the glide power as my second travel power when I reach 35, but only if there's no default cape.
I got bat wings on my arms and gliding with no cape would look perfect.

Honestly, it doesn't matter to me if they fix the issue or just release a new capeless glide power. Either works for me.

It would be nice if they would at least drop in and let us know they're on it. It would make us all so happy.
