If you do manage to grabe the free AT before they finally run out, I would suggest saving for tempest or impulse, Impulse being one of the stronger....ones, but tempest being one of the strongest.
Why save for an AT when you can save for a FF slot?? :B
Why not Zoidberg?!
I would go with the savage, it has a decent survivability and damage imput, I never used a tempest so I cannot recomend it to you, and the impulse IMHO is pure crap, ranged knockbacks and one of the weakest passive slots ever.
So yeah, if you are in the USA, get the Devastator and buy the savage, if you can't you can pick either of those two.
Why save for an AT when you can save for a FF slot??
I will get one once I know many things about the game first, so as find a good SG to learn more first. However it does cost over 1K Zen which I need to save like 5 weeks to 2 months to have enough for 1, but I will try
Avoid Impulse (it's terri-bad), consider Squall or Tempest.
Yes, Master is an excellent archetype for tanking if you rank up your stats and advantages optimally.
You decide though. Start with a character concept in mind, give them an original name and appearance from your imagination that goes along with the theme.

I see many Impulse bubbles, so that leave Tempest, Master, Devastator. And Squall I don't count him in since I don't like stand out in the wind much, feel sick a little with too much air (So sorry)
That leave 3 Archetype to choose from..................
Tempest, for what I heard he's similar to Inferno, so can he drawn Aggro during early lvl like Inferno? Because I just steal my tank aggro with a lvl 6 Inferno in Alert
The Master, since I don't know about him or see what he do. Can't really say, only know he's a good tank but take longer to kill
Devastator. Pretty strong AOE, Knock Up, Gap closing. But only have Offensive Powers, plus drawn Aggro easy?
Well that the problem in my head for a while, so about the FF Slot, does it allow you to make a character of any type to suit my play style. But require to have certain Archetype to use that power sets? So Silver players can make a FF character too?
The Tempest can put out some really impressive damage levels, especially if you opt for the Advantage on Sparkstorm that turns it into a toggle that maintains itself. Then when a group of, say, ARGENT soldiers zerg-rushes you, you can melt them with your Sparkstorm while still blasting the Cyborg forty feet away.
The Master has good attacks as well, and pretty fair survivability, but you'll be rezzing a lot at lower levels - takes a while for his true power to show.
The Devastator has massive attacks, but they take a while to go off. On the other hand, those Heavy Weapons can look really cool as they sweep right through your enemies. And historically, Alienware has restocked those codes every time they got really low, so you can probably score a free Devastator AT (and the Norse Warrior costume pack) through them.
A while back, there was some concept art for possible future Heavy Weapons. One of them was an electric guitar with an axe edge. I created a toon in anticipation, but deleted him later when a) the Guitar Axe was not forthcoming, and b) I needed the slot for another concept. However, if we ever do get that weapon, Death Metal will rise again!
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"
The devastator I have currently poops on the damage of any other AT I've ever played, if the super stats were a bit different, and one of the talent trees, it would probably smoke anything I could ever play. If only the skills were as flashy and breathtaking as the numbers it puts out. And they're sturdy as all hell, looking at at least 9k hp and enough defense to jump into any group of mobs as if not a single f@$ will ever be given. (Yeah I'm biased, but when you're consistently top rated in an open mission like takofanes without being fully geared, its kinda hard not to be.)
If you ever plan on buying the freeform slot, you don't have to have any of the archtypes to use all of the powers in the game. Its well worth it, and after you design one character to fit your...overall versatility needs, you'll be wanting to buy more slots for concepts etc. Well worth it.

I just snagged one, but the costume isn't showing up in the tailor menu. Can't confirm it by making a character of that archetype either, as I have no more character slots.

Not sure what to do.
if I recall correctly, you have to go into the last tab of the in-game C-store and confirm the buy there before you can use it.

I always late for the keys, now it's always out when I check on it................... So that leave The Tempest and Devastator (I will see if I lucky enough to get 1 key)

I will save for FFS soon, going to be a while for it
I recommend the Tempest simply because at some point you will go, "Which power should I choose from my list that will kill all of these guys before they get to me? Umm... Number three." Inferno's big attacks tend to be charge ups while the Tempest are maintains. Both self-root, but the Inferno gets beaten to a pulp during that time while the Tempest just kills everyone.
The Savage is a better tank than the Behemoth or Glacier thanks to the health regeneration, and does more damage than either. The animations are all animal-man, so you'll have to take that into consideration when choosing costumes. I've only died once when I wasn't paying attention to the locations of the mobs drew too much aggro, but even bosses tend to be a breeze. The main negative is that you have just one area attack. Everything else is for a single enemy.
Devastator is fun for the look. But they've made the AI a bit smarter for the Alert patch and some of the mobs will back away from you. The target must be right in front of you or you're useless. And while you now have Con as a secondary stat, you still can't afford to chase everyone down because they will eventually lead you to a second mob in the thicker areas. Knock back attacks will make you pull out your hair.
I tried the Master during the AT rotation. The shuriken spin was hilarious. Otherwise I wasn't too impressed.

I just checked (well after you posted this) and I see 91 keys still available. The offer may be blocked for your region, but if someone can get you a key it should work. On top of that, the keys are refreshed constantly, so they should re-up more soon.
I'd PM you a key but I'm not at my computer right now. So don't buy the Devistator as you should still be able to snag it for free. I'll try to send a key when I reach a comp...

Really? So how long for the giveaway to be over? Since I can't get one key here
Btw I just wonder? After the link to Alienware, it's seems that many can get the key, but here no. So can anyone confirm me how long for the giveaway? And can anyone help me with a key, really interested in that Archetype and save for Tempest instead

Hmm, I must be doing something very very wrong because with 3x heroic gear and level 5 mods mine is lucky to crit for 3k. Meanwhile my unleashed hits (not a crit) for 4-6k depending on enemy resists plus the aoe on my unleashed (the maintain) has a huge range and is 360-degrees. Except for brimstone which only hits for 800 or so damage outside of a crit, my devastator's aoes are all cones that rarely hit more than 2 enemies.
As for survivability, my unleashed has fewer hit points (5.5k compared to 8.7k on the dev) but thanks to temp hp and bountiful chi, survives vastly better than the devastator. Hell, my devastator dies on regular missions set to normal, thing feels like it's made of tinfoil and wapping enemies with a wet spaghetti nodle.
do you have a build for your devastator you can share because obviously we're getting totally different results.

Not to barge in on the thread, but could someone PM me a key as well? It says that there are zero keys remaining for some weird reason, and I can't get one
I'd really like that Viking set. Much appreciated if anyone can help.

Im using 2 silver pieces primary offense and utility, offense is set for crit rate.
and 3 questionite costume armors. and 1 blue lvl 40 str duster for primary defense.
All of my talent tree involves damage, offense and defense converted to offense, as well as Crit damage. The one primary offence is set for crit rate, and I skipped the crit rate based on str subbed it out for crit damage talent. Sitting at about 430 some odd str 1xx con and 1xx recovery, 300+ offence and like..200 or so defence? Can't remember off hand, but overall my combo hits are about 2k and my main damage skills are about 4k-5k non crits going as high as 11-12k crits in the little lvl 30 alerts, and about the same on lvl 40 mobs.

Heroic are the silver champ gear, and I have three of those. My secondaries are all the samurai set or the armadillo set (I have both) depending on need.
Hmm, I think I made similar choices on the specializations, though obviously a few were different as my offense is around 260 I think, need to recheck. But my strength is only 340-ish with a 260 con.
What attack are you using for those 11-12k crits? Arc of ruin or armageddon or the uppercut thingy?

Right now I have Glacier as Range/Tank, but I still need some melee with damage
That leave:
Tempest for lightning stroke and his animation (Love those storm)
Impulse, he seems to be good for Knock or Push back and many bubble powers (Somehow he seem to be the one who is always clean)
Devastator is melee and I love their swords (I heard he usually a backup tank, since he mostly has offense powers)
Master, I heard he's a good tank but not sure about it
Savage, I first want to get it while playing as Behemoth, but as I see that Savage doesn't have the role that suit my style, so I choose other.
And btw I usually made Beast characters to suit my taste of gameplay and even robotic.
But does FF Slot really worth for 5000 Zen? So what it do anyway?

I know, right? Most of the times is a pain in the *bloop* not living in the USA, specially for this cool promotions.

Either way, thanks for trying, pion01. I did eventually manage to get the key though, via the help of a colleague living in the UK.
Far as I know, that's the only workaround if anyone's interested.
