You guys should slap [Dark Aura] over the Jets and call them Dark Jets and it would sell like bananas.

I get that CO's new play model revolves entirly around filler and milking the cash shop instead of anything with any real substance like new story content, decent pvp, or evolving to something better but laying the pressure sales tactics on a bit thick arn't you? I'm actually wishing for when CO stood for Champions Online and not Chineese Overlords.

how will they detect this? If it's anything like how they run that "reach level 40 in x amount of days" Then it's a HUGE mistake to buy for the sake of getting something. I was especially shocked at the fact they still held the draw for the Art/Amazon gift card when they knew full well there was a serious error on THEIR part and were asking for everyone to contact them to fix it.

And before anyone dares reference my comment about the prize draw, claiming i'm only mad because i'm one of the victims, i didn't even reach 40, so yes, it's possible for players to have sympathy for others who actually DID achieve eligibility and denied any chance to win.

You know, I recently came back from GW2.

GW2 has the same problem with lockboxes, but it's way more broken and predatory in almost every element of its design. It employs far too many WoW tactics. And it was a good reminder of why I played Cryptic games in the first place. If you're feeling tired of CO, I suggest going to play GW2 for a bit and then you'll remember.

It's all about perspective, but if you think we have it bad, just... go and check out GW2. And gods damn, half of the content in that game is simply terrible, at least we have some variety going on here, rather than just reskins of the same thing all the time.

Yeah, I know some people might not want the vehicles (I like them), but it's still better than what's going on in some games. And like I said, if you don't believe that, go try GW2. The grass is always greener and all that. At least vehicles are fun. As is the heli-carrier mission.

They'll get to content when they can manage it.

It must be depressing for them (and for TT) to look in on threads like this, though. Well, after GW2, what I will say is that I've gained a new appreciation for Cryptic and what they do. I hope for greater success for them and their games. And I really hope they don't lose sight of what makes their games great with Neverwinter.

For now, what I will say is this - Thanks for the jets, guys. I had fun with them. So did the people I play with. They were a bit of fun, a bit silly, and light-hearted. Things that I wish more MMORPGs were.

Yah after that fiasco I no longer believe anything Cryptic says or especially, promises. Maybe it will happen, maybe it won't. I'm more inclined to believe won't.

While lockboxes are bad regardless of the game, atleast in GW2 the keys can actually be found in game as you kill mobs or complete events.

And some keys are given with the subscriptions in dcuo for gold/premium players.
But i'm agree, the gw2 solution is better than dcuo. Don't even talk to co, Cryptic seems to see gold players as silver players here.

Yeah, that doesn't make any sense either.

BTW, based on PTS right now, you'll be able to buy jets (well, one of them anyway) for 70 Drifter tokens (or $25 based on 2.78 Drifter tokens per Takobox), and said jet will have 2 weapon slots (yes, you can remove said weapons and put in other ones) and 2 modification slots.

And the reward for having one already I'm guessing is how your jet will get the slots to change things around absolutely free.

GW2's, "lockboxes," do not drop all that frequently. You get some free keys as rewards in gameplay, and can get more very easily without spending any money.

That is worse than the current situation in CO how ?

eeh, GW2 (yes, I tried it too) being a *slight* dissapointment doesn't make the downturn in my faith for the future of CO any better. It just means there are 2 should-be-larger MMO's I have accounts in with barly any reason to play. The lock boxxes arn't really the problem, and I would say that GW2's are actually better. For the reasons people have stated, plus the fact that GW's boxxes don't contain anything unique. They are just bonuses. Theres no bait like PW's (note I mean Perfect World and not CO) boxxes, so acutally the boxxes here are MUCH more predetory. Its kind of insulting to my weird personal sensibilities actually, so despite the fact I have plenty of stipend I could spend on them and get it 'free'...I won't and I dont see any reason that I will. It is the worst lotto I've ever seen, and to make it worse PW could pull the rug out from under us all like what was done to CoX at any moment makeing it all moot. They bought Cryptic because STO has a big name behind it for them to present, thats about it. I should probably stop ranting now, this has gotten really off topic.

You're taking the Hawkwing planes away? That's lame.

Those vehicles are good for travel, if nothing else. Any good player can just shoot them down while maintaining nearly maximum health.

    Are you serious?

None of this has anything to do with the performance of the vehicles or anything involving vehicle VS player combat. Anyone with two braincells to rub together isn't in the least surprised by this, and may have even been expecting it. The Prototype Jets were as much as stated to be tests for the vehicle system, and as such were very likely to be removed when the full thing made its way to live.

    These forums... Uggghh.

The Black Lion boxes also have a chance to give you, of all things, more keys. My friends regularly opened 20+ boxes with only 5 or so keys, which they had acquired through gameplay.

As I mentioned before, on PTS at least, they're still around on the Drifter store. I'm assuming this is going Live.

So i guess Cryptic not only see everyone here as chumps, but they don't like non americans either. They could have atleast had an option where any non US resident could opt in to also be in the running for top prize, but they pay for postage and handling IF they happened to win for the out of the country thing.

It's not a matter of anti-foreigner sentiment: many countries have different laws about competitions and games of chance. For practical purposes, it's easier to exclude another country than modify your contest to fit that country's laws.

No, they hate all of us chumps equally. A good number of we Americans were excluded from the running for the top prize although we received the title and in-game loot.

what interesting about the region control is that even though PW is a Chinese company it blocks Chinese users. Causing all my Chinese friends unable to log in to the website.

and they are all good people to boot. CO isn't big enough to attract gold farmers and speaker n00bs (spams in public chat and force other people to see it using some sort of speaker item) not to mention there isn't a speaker item in game lol

As has been explained before, PW divides its game servers between the parent company, which controls the Far East region, and the PWE subsidiary, which gets the rest of the world. The problem here is, CO only has the one server, here in the States. The way the company divvies up areas of responsibility, their current corporate culture can't let PW Mothership clients access PWE-owned servers. They've never dealt with a situation like this before, and like most corporations, their decision-making processes when confronted with new situations might best be described as "glacial".

One hopes that one day they'll figure it out; in the meantime, the folks here at Cryptic have managed to keep the old logons working, so existing players in the PW Mothership areas can still play. (No new accounts from that region, sadly, until this all gets straightened out, assuming it ever does...)
