Electrical build - advice?

This is what I have been using. While I basically enjoy it a LOT, I'm wondering what sort of tweaking could be done to make it even better. It's a dual passive build. Not that you can have two passives on at once, but it allows you to switch.

SS:

Primary: Ego
Secondary. Dex, End

Innate: Impetus

Talents:
Agile, Indomitable, Accurate, Shooter, Impresario, Tireless

Energy Unlock: Ionic Reverb
Energy Builder: Electric Bolt (R1)

Lightning Arc (R3)
Invulnerability (R3)
Force Shield (Force Sheath)
Support Drones (R3)
Conviction (R3)
Ball Lightning (R1, Triiplicity)
Lightning Storm (R3)
COncentration (R1)
Electric Form (R3)
Inertial Dampening Shield (R1)

Specs:

Mental Endurance 3/3, Force of Will 2/2, Sixth Sense 3/3, FOllow Through 2/3

Avenger:

Ruthless 2/2, Round'Em Up 3/3, Relentless Assault 3/3, Offensive Expertise 2/2

Vindicator:

Merciless 3/3, The Rush of Battle 2/3, Mass Destruction 3/3, Focused Strikes 2/3

Mastery: Ego

You mean Inertial Dampening Field? You are aware you cannot have two forms active at the same time yes?

Also, simple tip but avoid using the +8 talents, you'll get more out of the Trainings or other +5/+5's

Yeah, I know I meant Inertial Dampening Field. I didn't realize the notes I copied from had that written wrong. Need to fix that.

And yeah, I know I can't have two at the same time, hence I can see a bit of a need for suggestions on other things to take. Although...since it's for dual builds, perhaps IDF when I'm using Invuln and Concentration when I'm using Elec Form...

It's a simple tip, but yeah, I'm always up for suggestions on the talents. So feel free to suggest others to substitute.

    First row EGO:

    Insight 3/3, Aggression 2/2.

As for powers, Overdrive or Ionic Reverberation should be next. Then you can skate your way to 40 using Ball Lightning + Concentration + Lightning Storm + Electric Form.

Oh, if you do alerts, you will probably want a threat dump, like Evasive Maneuvers, Smoke Grenade or Palliate...and rank those up or take necessary advantages on them because chances are very high that you will get a ton of aggro

On talents, it doesn't really matter: the 8s give you more superstats, but the trainings give you more total stats. In my opinion, the superstats are worth a lot more than any extra stats because they boost your passives AND boost spec tree choices, making them pull 10x the weight that any non-ss stat could possibly hope for. But that is totally up to you, it won't make or break your toon either way.

Ahh, that's pretty much what I have been doing powers-wise, they're kind of in the order I took them.

I also see that the build has Mental Endurance, I tend to take Insight instead. Need to fix that. Again.

Are the superstats okay, or would you recommend switching any of them?

And Destroyer's arse, I know about the aggro SO well. So I'll try getting Smoke Grenade, as that makes sense for the character.

It's becoming a running joke how half the bosses end up focusing on me.

Those superstats are awesome for levelling.

Once you hit 40 and get the cost reduction silver champion utility, you can mess around with DEX Ego/End too...or even DEX Ego/Rec.

So it's a pretty good build overall, then, just need to fit in Smoke Grenade somewhere. Fortunately it has a free power pick.

I would recommend posing it in PowerHouse form, so it's easier on the eyes...

    Like my Electric Build here:
    PowerHouse (Link to this build)

    Name: Roy's Electric DPS build

    Archetype: Freeform

    Super Stats:
    Level 6: Ego (Primary)
    Level 10: Recovery (Secondary)
    Level 15: Dexterity (Secondary)

    Talents:
    Level 1: Quick Trigger
    Level 6: Agile
    Level 9: Indomitable
    Level 12: Tireless
    Level 15: Impresario
    Level 18: Shooter
    Level 21: Wordly

    Powers:
    Level 1: Electric Bolt
Level 1: Lightning Arc (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 6: Electric Form (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 8: Concentration
    Level 11: Overdrive
Level 14: Ego Surge (Nimble Mind)
Level 17: Circle of Arcane Power (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 20: Ball Lightning (Triplicity)
Level 23: Lightning Storm (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 26: Force Eruption (Gravitational Polarity)
Level 29: Support Drones (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 32: Smoke Grenade (Escape Artist)
    Level 35: Masterful Dodge
Level 38: Ebon Void (Rank 2, Rank 3, Voracious Darkness)

    Travel Powers:
    Level 6: Teleportation (Rank 2)
    Level 35: Acrobatics (Versatility)

    Specializations:
    Ego: Force of Will (2/2)
    Ego: Insight (1/3)
    Ego: Aggression (2/2)
    Ego: Follow Through (3/3)
    Ego: Sixth Sense (2/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Modified Gear (2/2)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (2/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Mastery: Ego Mastery (1/1)

It is nasty damage - just make sure you have a good tank to hold aggro (also, KB is a weakness, as it bumps you out of your circle and gravitational polarity thing).

How's that last build for leveling?

The last build looks more lvl 40 retcon build, not lvling build. Not that you won't be able to lvl with it, it's just will be slightly slower. First of all it doesn't have good AOE power, so killing groups of henchmen will take longer then if you would have lightning storm. But that's only for missions, in alerts you don't really need AOE's. Also, it doesn't have good healing powers, before 40 you won't have enough dodge for BCR(RR) to be that effective, so you probably will have to use masterful dodge quiet often.

That makes sense, I have noticed that leveling, it is a bit more fragile than I'm used to. Appreciated, I'll definitely keep that build in mind for level 40, though.

I'm sorry, I haven't leveled a new toon in years. Though I did try to put stuff there in a leveling friendly way... What is your current level? I could probably help you better if I knew...

Let's see...I have a 40 with that build, a 24 and a 22... Those levels are subject to change, but that's what they are at the moment.

*edit* (I did steal the superstats, talents and spec points for the level 22, though, as I love the power cost discount on int, and it works nicely story-wise for her.)

Speaking of how to level toons... I would either follow the build you have in mind by backtracking and removing powers as you level or just experiment a ton and have fun learning what works for you(what I did when I leveled). Here's the framework that I use for all my Range DPS toons. It works with just about anything, just add your Passive, attacks and energy unlock.

    PowerHouse (Link to this build)

Name: Generic PvE Range DPS Framework (just add attacks/passive/energy unlock)

    Archetype: Freeform

    Super Stats:
    Level 6: Dexterity (Primary)
    Level 10: Intelligence (Secondary)
    Level 15: Recovery (Secondary)

    Talents:
    Level 1: Sureshot
    Level 6: Agile
    Level 9: Brilliant
    Level 12: Tireless
    Level 15: Coordinated
    Level 18: Impresario
    Level 21: Negotiator

    Powers:
    Level 1: Strafe
Level 1: Evasive Maneuvers (Sleight of Mind)
    Level 6: Concentration
    Level 8: Passive
Level 11: Ice Sheath (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 14: Bountiful Chi Resurgence (Resurgent Reiki)
    Level 17: Masterful Dodge
    Level 20: Unbreakable (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 23: Lock N Load (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 26: Smoke Grenade (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 29: Attack 1 (single target)
    Level 32: Attack 2 (AoE)
Level 35: Energy unlock, Overdrive if you have only maintain/PA attacks or MSI for all the rest
Level 38: Whatever else you need

    Travel Powers:
    Level 6: Teleportation
    Level 35: Flight (Rank 2, Rank 3)

    Specializations:
    Dexterity: Gear Utilization (1/3)
    Dexterity: Brush It Off (2/2)
    Dexterity: Power Swell (2/2)
    Dexterity: Deadly Aim (3/3)
    Dexterity: Expose Weakness (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
Vindicator: The Rush of Battle (2/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (2/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Mastery: Dexterity Mastery (1/1)

All INT mods for your gear except for one REC secondary piece. This along with cooldown reduction will let you always have one active Offence and one active Deffence up and no need for your Energy Builder. It will work fine as is for PA, but there are ways of making a PA build better. And always remember that most mobs have different attacks at different ranges, they hit alot softer the farther you are. Being in 51'-120' is optimal for survival.

That's very good advice, so thanks. I can always juggle the order of powers a bit, take some earlier and some later.

*edit* I tend to use my Vanguard Heirloom or Nemesis pieces for primaries and rec secondaries, are you saying I should switch one or two of the rec secondaries out for int secondaries?

What I'm saying is at lv40 to only have INT gear/mods except for one 37REC secondary. The beast you can find/buy is a secondary utility gear with +37REC+6.5Def+93Cooldown+46Cost, it's called Salvager's Eyepiece. In my fire DPS toon i have 479INT, 135DEX, 105REC and the rest are all 10.

Ahh, now I get it. Thanks. I tend to think in terms of leveling, I don't have more than...three 40s.
