Converting from Silver to Gold

Okay, a friend of mine just upgraded from Silver to Gold. He wants to retrain to freeform, only problem is, it wont let him. He types the name in, clicks the radio button and the okay button never ungrays. It also will not let him delete the silver character. Any suggestions?

    I believe he has to upgrade the character at the character screen. there should be a button on the right hand side where the "rename" button is, if I remember correctly....

    If he has already done this then I'm not sure why he can't retrain his character, I was able to change mine so he might have to write a customer service ticket.....

    He may have used his conversion token to retrain at some point. In which case he's boned and will have to spend zen (or reroll).

    He hasn't used the retrain token, it was his first character. It wont let him delete the character either. The okay button never ungrays, as I mentioned.

    He's got a gold account, but did he convert the character itself from Silver to Gold before attempting the Retrain?

    But the thing that really matters is if the account has been gold or not previously.

    They fixed that bug according to several patches ago. All he should have to do is hit the button that converts his character from Silver to Gold.
    Champions Online player since September of 2008, forumite since February of 2008.

    The fact that he can't delete the character either tells me that he's got something else going on.

    Is it possible the character's name is being somehow mistyped? Is there an extra space in there, or a space at the beginning or end of the name? Check for that.

    Thanks for the replies. Since nothing we tried was working, at the time, he settled on making the character with a different name.
