"Enjoy rewards such as LEGACY GEAR"

Massively Preview

I remember an exclusive from Massively about the anniversary event and I was wondering about something mentioned in it.

What was this about legacy gear?

I don't remember there being anything revealed about the legacy gear. All that the event had were the costumes pieces and devices that comes every anniversary. There wasn't any legacy gear at all.

What happened to this?

I originally thought it was going to be the release of the much anticipated Legacy vendor that was being worked on since Alert came out. However, I'm thinking that fell through.

    If you logged in during a part of the event you got legacy gear.

    It did. And they act like they never mentioned it in the 1st place.

    All of the costume unlocks, AFs, etc... that were removed with On Alert and were to be available in the Legacy Store have shown absolutely no signs of ever seeing the light of day again.

    Probably Reason #1 as to why I am incredibly pissed off at this Dev Team. :mad:

    Yeah, I remember when a particular dev stated these would all be in a vendor... before alert even hit.

    The legacy gear is a fun thing to have, but it's also available at the nemesis vendor if you need it. I've stopped using gear that I find up to a certain level since the legacy gear is good stuff in terms of leveling.

    Honestly, you had like almost three years to get the stuff, if you didn't get it by now, do you really think the devs care?

    The only thing "Legacy" means is that it is now permanently unobtainable in game, hence the CTPs now being labeled "Legacy". It was supposedly going to be tagged onto the old boss/open mission epics as well, but I wouldn't know since I never got any of them because I hate having devices and things cluttering up my inventory.

    The whole vendor thing was never going to happen, it was simply a rumor started during the on alert beta.

    The "Vendors" were the recognition ones that we now have, that have a sprinkling of old craftables on them along with the mob costume parts.

    Given that character customization is often cited as COs greatest strength, how is wanting more costume options an entitlement issue?

    Furthermore, how is the game served by removing a bunch of content that people would grind or pay to get?

    LOL all I read was I got mine and you didn't hahahaha. Yes there is apparently a lot you don't know and maybe you should have been more attentive to the Crush channel at the time. :wink:

    No, I know all about them, and how utterly brokenly overpowered the epics are... That's the reason they aren't around anymore and crush "forgot" about them.

    If he could've he'd have taken away my Eagle Blaster, everyone's pheromones, etc...

    Be glad they decided to let you keep them at all if you have them.

    They aren't as strong as they use to be.
    Champions Online player since September of 2008, forumite since February of 2008.
