So tonight, I barely said much, and after a while I tried speaking again and got this...

You have been silenced. You may chat again in 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 34 seconds.

WTF? I am even on /hide to prevent this kind of "report spam" abuse. I did no spamming. Last words I mentioned were in copvp chat, which was this: "was i on fire? AGAIN?!". I never talk in ZONE. What's the deal, devs...

Anyhow, I am muted for a day. Sorry friends whome I cannot respond too. Hopefully someone will be kind enough to read this and let you all know, repeatedly throughout the day, that I am muted.

Will give you a hint DC doesnt stand for disconnected in this context.

Will be blunt was in a bash last weekend with some "DC" peeps took 3 of them to take me down I told them that and strangely I was chat banned.

Mal will know the match he was there also.

I really don't understand how people get banned for nothing. I'm constantly chatting in zone, posting non-sequitirs and general nonsense and I have never been banned. Heck, I've instigated a Grond meme once or twice and never gotten banned.

Two things people that get insta-banned should consider:

    1) It's probably not the last thing said that triggers a ban. I don't know how exactly it works but the last thing said before a ban was probably just "the straw that broke the camel's back." But there's probably a count of spam reports and ignores somewhere that gets reset every once in a while which means it may be forgotten things said in passing that triggers a ban.

    2) There a lot of different people that play CO. Gay people will probably ignore a player en masse if that player used the word "gay" to disparage something, even if it "Isn't meant that way." There are a lot of Furries that play CO so if someone started complaining about them, those people would likely also ignore that player. Race, religion and politics are also good topics to avoid. Also, many people consider proselytizing politics and religion as forms of spam, even discussions and tributes. People play for a variety of reasons, but usually escapism is high up there so don't "ruin the magic." If you do, you'll probably get ignored.

LOL seen all this before. Being a gay furry* I dont see why you brought both sections into the argument. I see someone use the term "GAY" I dont even bother making the effort to click ignore those people arnt even worth that effort.

Ive been chat banned even after being offline for 2 months. I hardly speak in zone and its usually to say "sup zone" or to spread the glory of muffins hardly nasty stuff.

This isnt about chat muting in the PvE area this is about chat muting in the PvP arena and I will tell you the cold hard truth a lot of SG's say like the Liga when they get wasted get their members to report spam you on mass .

Its a cowardly tactic used by many because a lot of us play in our SG's even in bash and well chat muting one of us can throw off the team dynamic .

You know, assumption makes an **** of u and mption. You're supposing that they're being muted for behavior. I saw a few players (xeno comes to mind majorly, as he had it for a month straight last year, or thereabout) who were a victim of this.

What we're seeing here is simply abuse of a feature, and part of (imo) the reason why pvp is in the state it's in. Hell, I get scared to pvp now because of the guilds that mute people who perform well. Retconned all of my pvp characters, I'm done with it. I've seen people brag in channel about having done this to other players, this is not an issue with the muted player's behavior in a lot of cases. It's exploiting a feature of the game, in a very direct application of player vs player.

This is also the only mmo I've ever seen where players can abuse features to literally harm other people's ability to play and enjoy the game. So freaking broken.

Are you sure it's not crony tactics SGs use among members in BASH and the busted SH turrets? Seems like reason enough by themselves.

You know? The tactics people use in pvp don't bother me much. It's actually expected, this game used to have a buncha pvp specific supergroups that'd do premades and faceroll the poor pug that went up against them. That, imo, is just the risk you take. The turrets being busted is a huge bummer, that's certainly true, but you can always just stay out of stronghold.

You can't exactly avoid chatmute exploiting by sore losers (or winners, for that matter. I've seen that one happen) who are abusing a system that shouldn't really work like that in the first place. I guess the diference is between small nuisance, and fully destroying your ability to enjoy the game for 24 hours. But, I'm that oddball that actually *loves* getting steamrolled in pvp. Best way to learn, right? And at least the stronghold turret thing is bugged all across the board, which makes it a level playing field in a screwed up way.

I don't know why I was muted, exactly, and even tho lately I've had some complications with members from the SG "Spear of Triam" I'd like to think they wouldn't resort to such lowly tactics as mass report spamming me. Even if one of them has had me on ignore all day... I give players more benefit of doubt. Surely they wouldn't like for my SG and friends (which I have a lot of) to abuse report spamming on them...

Ah come on, if everyone had to make a blasted thread everytime one got muted the section would turn into hell. How about you.. walk it off? Deal with it? If you feel you're victim or whatever conspiracy that lasts 24h, take a break and ignore it? By making this very thread the only thing you do is to let 'them' know that it works damn well.

Good ol' on-the-offense Forz. Classic stuff, here.

If you bothered to read my OP you would see I wasn't playing any victim card. Rather, I was letting friends know that I am not purposefully ignoring them to be an *******, but rather, because I am muted. And I had hopes others could relay that information for me.

It's passed now. I can speak for myself, yay. But I wasn't pointing fingers and whining about it. I chalked it up to a game fluke that I was muted, not for any other reason.

I am sure you just have to be "right", but what you quoted was my response to other people's suggestion that it was other players who got me muted. As you can see from the quote, I still give them benefit of doubt in that situation.
