Picking 2 heals for a Support Sorcerer

I am building a Free Form Sorcerer and I'd like to have a few heals for teaming. I assume I need an AoE and a Single Target heal - that right?

I was thinking of Vala's Light to spam when I am in the center of the action and then something like Arcane Vitality or Empathic Healing to keep on the Tank.

Is that a good choice? Or does Celestial have better options?

Thanks!

PS: I'll be super statting Con (to keep me alive and for the small AoE heal) and then Pre & Int. I'll run Aura of Radiant Protection to help the team.

As you're super-statting CON, have you perhaps thought of Iniquity? It's the best heal in the game, if somewhat risky for the user. It's a great emergency heal if someone is close to death... as long as you have enough Health to transfer, of course.

Thank you! If Inequity is a great emergency heal, then what is the best single target non-emergency heal? Conduit? Arcane Vit? Empathic Heal?

Really, if you take all the pre-req healer things like PRE, Compassion, Sentinel Aura...any additional heals you pick will be just fine.

I think I have used most of the heals on different toons to get to 40 through alerts as a primary healer. Empathic Healing was probably my favorite...but when I used Heal Bots, Vala's Light helped me out the most.

So, my advice is to just find a heal you like using a lot and go with it.

On my current Gravitar support character, the only non-self heal worth anything is Iniquity. A 2k heal every 0.5 seconds with 100 range is just so much better than anything else.

Iniquity is the best heal in the game. With primary super stat Presence, take the Selfless Ally specialization in the Presence Tree and this will defray much if not all of Iniquity's health cost. As to other heals, unless you are a proactive healer or have really good reactions, I don't recommend any of the charge-up heals. As to area heals, the areas are pretty small, and unless the group has more than one melee who are all pounding on the same mob, you are not going to get more than one person in an AoE heal. I don;t bother with an AoE heal as a result.

I thought an AOE heal like Vala's Light would be useful in Alerts and Boss fights, but I have very little experience. If everyone is usually spread out I'll skip it - thanks!

Would Rebuke fall in that list? XD

Anyway, in response to the actual question... Iniquity is indeed potent. If you have Sentinel Aura, you can get away with pretty much anything. I'm fond of Empathic Healing, myself, as it starts healing for maddeningly high amounts as it's maintained, and you can move about while using it on yourself.

If you don't have Sentinel Aura, and you dislike having to stop what you're doing to target yourself, Conviction might be a good choice. It'll let you recover your health after Iniquity, and keep up Compassion stacks. Only problem is the small cooldown, which means you can just keep heals going to yourself if you're the one being targeted.
Dasher@Tool-box, donning his armor to prance into battle and blitz the enemy! No joke!
Cupid@Tool-box, stunningly radiant stag ready to play matchmaker between villain and arrow!
Vixon@Tool-box, frighteningly eager to summon despair for his adversaries!
Jebin Zedalu@Tool-box, elementalist weaponmaster. ...One of these things is not like the others!
