Double XP + Smash XP + Anniversary XP = Your Time

So, I saw the ridiculous stack of leveling boosts being passed around for the Anniversary, and I coincidentally was approaching my last few days of being able to play CO for awhile. Naturally, this led me to wonder how quickly I could take a brand-new hero to 40. Sadly, I did not have a free slot at the time, but I spent a few hours taking a 32 the rest of the way to 40 to open a slot.

Having found the "Make a Wish!" perk title, I decided to make a hero named Foundation just to put that perk over their head. I took my new free slot, picked Specialist as a random AT just to avoid having to think about my build (I tend to do exclusively freeform), and checked in on my progress with /played every now and again.

Around the 9 minute mark, I was level 9, but I knew the one-level-per-minute rate wouldn't last. Sure enough, by level 18, I was in for about an hour, if I recall correctly. By the time it was all over, including a break of about 30 minutes for a re-train (to a Night Warrior/Might brawler), I had clocked in at just a hair over 11 hours.

I basically did the Black Fang Smash through about level 20 or 25, then retrained, smashed a bit more, and then around 28, seeing the problem with my beginner gear and mismatched stats (gear stats no longer matched my new freeform superstat picks), I plowed through some Monster Island world map mission series while queued for still more Smashes. Around 37 I remembered that there is some kind of CRISIS involving Vibora Bay, so I ducked over for that, but didn't manage to finish it up before actually hitting 40.

If you're still reading, what did you do with your massive XP boosts? Did you even take any? If you rolled a new hero and were curious how fast you could get to 40, what kind of time did you make? How did you do it? Inquiring minds want to know. And I'm curious, too.

I love all the stacking and stack as much as I can. I didn't get to farm presents this year for xp buffs, just no time. I loaded up all my characters who are not 40 with a 4hr buff though.

Yeeeeee...ahhhh... so um... In spite of being on my THIRD page of heroes, with all but a few being 40, I still have not gotten around to farming Nem tokens enough to buy a set of this stuff. I honestly don't think I even have enough on one character for a single piece. You'd think they'd let Nem tokens be bound to account, instead of character, but... well, I'm sure there's a Cryptic reason for it not being so.

Iris Irregular started the weekend at 12, I think. I farmed a lot of Black Fang, partly for XP and partly to get used to the way her powers worked. I capped out at 24 on Sunday... thanks everyone who teamed with me, was a fun time.

Anniversary XP is from the Anniversary Gift Box device. I think it's another +15%, like Smash. Double XP is Witchcraft's thing.

And yes, as someone pointed out above, if you have someone who is under 40, grab that buff from Witchcraft before you log them out. It is game time, not real time, so you'll enjoy 4 hours of double XP on that character whenever you get back around to hopping on them for a bit.

Yeah, had a blast running through this leveling a new character with the new powers. Unreal XP Gains. Queue, kill mobs for a quest, pound blackfang, finish out, rinse, repeat. Levels even in the 30's in minutes.

    Okay, thanks.

And yeah, I still have about 30 characters with the original 8 hour XP boost. :P

And another 20 with the 4 hour XP boost.

And then the rest of my characters are already 40!

Skip the tutorial; Heirloom gear + Smash Buff + Double XP buff + Anniversary consumables = 7 hours 20 minutes of doing nothing but Black Fang Dockside Dustups to get to 40.

Yesterday wasn't a day particularly well spent , but it was 40 # 16 for me.

*edit* I did tweak my powers at one point, so a few mins in the PH and some other time talking to peeps, but it was pretty much Black Fang all day long.

2 40 FFs and apparently had time to spare. But that was extensive play throughout the weekend, well beyond my normally bearable levels.

Was only bearable thanks to the double xp though. Without the double xp, I wouldn't have bothered leveling at all.

I think neither of the new FFs that hit 40 actually did even 100 smashes this time around, as opposed to usually doing over 200. Part of that being sick of smashes, and the other part being completing regular content was gratifying and didn't leave me frustrated, like watching a radiant rebuke a boss when I'm having to pull double duty as a dps tank (ie not a tank).

I used the xp boosts to add 4 levels each to 5 different toons, ranging from levels 19 to 32.

I have a bit of the alt-itis. Not too bad, mind you: I only have 12 toons.

I didn't start any new characters, but I managed to finally level three toons I had on hold for a while to 40 through Smash and Witchcraft XP boosts alone (I forgot the aniversary XP boosters ). Then got the Witchcraft XP boost for every non-40 I had left.

Now, here's an idea. Someone who has got both of those buffs on should let that character sit until they have a good five or six of them stacked up, and see if they can get to 40 in like 2 hours.

For the buffs from last year, my alts were mostly unplayed since I didn't want to "waste" the buff. But when I considered it, I didn't like having to not play them so as to not run down the timers, so I purposefully played a different toon every other day to burn up the buffs. I think I finished out the last of them in late June or early July.

And as soon as Witchcraft was there this time around, I made sure that every single one of my toons that wasn't 40 got the buff. Then I created 4 or 5 new toons so they could have the buff.

Then I focused on a couple of toons specifically to raise them while being able to renew the buff. My 'all pets' toon went from 32 to 40, my invulnerability PA toon (one of the new ones) went from 6 to 40, and I've been working on my fire toon (probably hit 40 today with the last couple hours of the buff).

Next up it's a choice of specifically burning off the buffs, or just play each toon in turn taking advantage of the buff at the start. Either way, the buffs will last me for weeks or months (again).

I don't think it works like that. The boost from Witchcraft isn't year specific.

With my level 6 toon with heirloom/item/witchcraft/smash I went from 6 to 10 in 2 alerts. Then it was 1 alert per level for a couple levels, then a level every other alert and so on. At 39 I was getting just over a bubble of XP per alert.

If the buff were year/event specific that would be pretty crazy. You'd jump from 6 to 20 in a couple alerts.

Where the Exp Boost really helped me the most was always to avoid Vibora Bay. Since with
the 100% and maybe Heirloom and doing a Smash now and then, i could mostly level from
33 - 40 on Monster Isle in around 3 Hours.

    Hmmm...

I was having so much fun so didn't count levels.

Globe Guardian: Created during weekend and hit level 25-26. Sitting in his slot for now.

Knightly Defender: Well couldn't really remember what level he was but he ended up level 37 as I was desperately trying to start Vibora Bay Apocalypse. As I learned VBA still bugged gave it up and let him at that level. He spent most of the time dancing and listening Sapphire. He also tried to complete that alert villains perk. Probably got himself 10 levels or so.

Summer Witch: Deleted, remade, deleted again, remade again, retconed 5 times and now sitting on level 15.

I didn't exclusively use Smash Alerts, I like to use them between my favorite missions to boost XP to ding.

First let me say my memory is weak.

Now, did you re-roll Iris during weekend, Trailturtle? I guess I am recalling an Iris and Iris Irregular from weekend alerts. Normally I don't notice other characters but Iris is a quite looker. She has an awesome costume design.
