Hello!
As a new refugee from City of Heroes, I was looking at trying to translate a character concept over to here with the freeform builder.
The Character concept I'm trying to pull over is a hybrid being, an alien/energy being. (A Peacebringer, to those who know, but I don't need %100 of the same thing, I mostly just like the concept.)
I looked at some of the builds in some of the indexes, and none of them really stood out to me.
I really like the Celestial powerset, both thematically and with how the powers work with Hurt/Heal mechanics based on friendly/enemy.
But I also feel that a good, thematic hero should also be slugging the badguys.
Is there a build I've missed that somehow ties in some melee play to the Celestial healing?
You have to remember that Celestial powers, well most of them, will hurt enemies as well as heal allies.
While they aren't uber they are perfectly good powers to use. I leveled a celestial toon with them all the way to 40 no prob.
Here we are now going to the West Side
Weapons in hand as we go for a ride
Some may come and some may stay
Watching out for a sunny day
Where there's love and darkness and my sidearm
In game as @forgemccain
Seraphim boots heals and Paranormal damage, so it will boost Ego powers, there's plenty of awesome hand to hand attacks there...
If you do that I recommend a Pre Ego/Dex or Ego/Rec build
If you take the Siphoning strikes adv for Ego weaponry, you'd be darn hard to kill in tough fights ^^ with that pre boost to healing

As others have suggested, ego powers would go VERY nicely with celestial especially with seraphim. Which also gives you access to lots of melee choices, while still getting full damage bonus from EGO instead of needing STR.
In other words, with ego blades as a melee choice, you can simply use EGO as your primary super stat, leaving the other two open to something like CON for survivability, DEX, which with ego, SS and spec tree, can turn you into a real crit monster, or something like REC or INT for energy management.
Alternatively, if you really want more of a peacebringer/warshade feel, you can pick up a secondary offensive/defensive passive for when you wan't to melee, such as Way of The Warrior for the most bang for your punch, while still offering dodge/avoidance that will benefit from DEX as a superstat, or Night Warrior if you want to sneak up and one hit kill stuff, defiance or invulnerability if you want to tank, or even Shadow Form if you are more of a warshade than peacebringer fan.
Of course there is also a self rez you can pick up as well, Rebirth, which is not quite as useful as rezzing yourself in CoX however in some situations like fighting Gravitar its still quite useful.
All in all, you really can have more fun with the concept here than in CoX because you can tailor your hybrid alien build to fit exactly what you want from it, instead of being forced to stretch yourself too thin as they were in CoX.
P.S. if you wan't more traditional melee attacks, there are some martial arts attacks, that with advantage do dimensional or fire damage, dimensional damage would be boosted by seraphim still, or shadow form, or even ID mastery. One important thing to decide is whether or not you want to focus on range or melee as the toggles (forms) usually only give half as much benefit, such as concentration, gives half as much damage bonus to melee as it does to range, and triggers much more from ranged activity.
