The vehicle inspiration-suggestion thread!

So, we all know vehicles are coming. It's kind of fun playing with the proto jets right now. I like the speed, and just cruising around in my jet. I rarely use it for combat.

So, here's the thing- why not share some vehicle inspiration on here for suggestions? Maybe not an exact replica, but perhaps say 'what about something similar to this' to inspire the engineers that bring us rolling and flying destruction?

I like this vehicle, it screams 'insane speedy rolling war machine'.

Perhaps something like a interceptor type starfighter for the sci-fi crowd

Maybe a bi-plane,or tri-plane for the pulp crowd

Military would probably be something like you stated,which I do like some of those G.I. Joe aircraft that you pointed out,my super soldier would love that,as well as every other soldier/super soldier out there,oh and why restrict it to flying vehicles,we can have humvees too!

Maybe a dragon for the mystic crowd,or a chariot

and thats about all the ideas I have right now

Some other things to consider:

- HUMVEE with top mounted .50 cal machine guns
- Tube Frame Vehicles (Homemade) - Think armed sand rail

- Peterbilt / Kenworth Semi (without trailer) made up in "Mad Max" fashion
- WWII era Fighter Plane (P-51 Mustang)
- 4x4 Pickup with Brush Guard (and "ramming" attack)

I love the concept but once again a HUGE fail in implementation make me say **** vehicles. Cryptic Studios simply does not have the game design skills to make it work.

Gamehobo, you are aware that the Jets are not the final implementation of the Vehicle system, yes? As TrailTurtle has informed us repeatedly? I'm not fond of how the Jets work, either - which is why I'm not dropping cash on Vehicles until the system finally emerges.

For other vehicle ideas, I'd like to suggest a Flying Saucer. Beam weapons, tractor beam, paralyze rays, temp government agent pets, maybe a stealth setting. Could be fun.
A tank or large mech would be awesome. Pretty much PA powers though. Rockets, machine-guns, mine droppers, sonic crowd control weapons.

Problem: People want motorcycles, but we can't currently have vehicles that actually show our characters.

Solution: VIPER! VIPER uses two different types of hover bikes. Ones you sit on normally and ones you lay down in with a covered shield like the Hawkwing Jets have. Use the covered Hover Bikes and we can have motorcycles. Best part is, the model is already in the game.

I would like something in this vein. Obviously it might need to be an auto-gyro rather than a straight prop engine plane (I don't know how CO would handle an aircraft that has to keep moving forward) - but something like an old warbird <._.> and the P-40 is high on my list as inspiration.

On the ground, I'd love to see something like an M60 MBT. I don't know if the game can handle a treaded vehicle (I'd prefer treads over a 'hover tank' if at all possible); but if it can't I could deal with a hover tank. Wikipedia

On the whole what really intrigues me most about vehicles though is going to be customizing them... that's what's really going to be neat, if they pull it off right.

The devs seem fully capable of taking care of the aesthetics and powers for these devices, but they just can't pin down the controls and handling. The jets we have now just don't handle like I envisioned. They need to refine the handling first, then they can focus on the powers and customization.

I hope this isn't a necro.

Steam-punk Airship.
It moves slow except when Afterburner is hit and jet engines fold out from the ship's body. Basically it's a battle blimp.
It should drop bombs. Some make a fire-patch, some Snare because they explode glue stuff all over the targets. Some are crowd control gas canisters or maybe dot poison gas.
It also has a Blast cannon attack with optional aoe explosive round. A short-live Maintain that sprays burning steam at a target but takes time to build up so it has a Cool-down. Probably the aoe.

If there are no police vehicles at some point, mainly the patrol car, but a police chopper or speedboat (really edging into the 'not going to happen probably' if I go into boats, but just want that out there just in case it can happen), I will EAT A HAMSTER.
Of course, since there's no time limit on my expectation of when that can happen, it means that said hamster would be existing entirely in fear for the rest of its life until police vehicles get added, with no actual real risk to it, not that it knows that.
(disclaimer I do not own a hamster nor would I threaten one or eat one, nor do I think anyone should do so to any rodent, it's just a badly chosen expression to show how emphatic I am that police vehicles would be a good addition to the vehicles)
