Hello, I am a (soon to be) former player of City of Heroes. Now I will not go into what everyone already knows. My only statement on it will be that I will greatly miss the game I spent 8+ years in.

No, the purpose of this post is to compliment what I have seen here. With very few exceptions I see no gloating. All I see is empathy for our loss and a willingness to open your doors to us and welcome us to your game. I wanted to say how touched I am by what I have read here. I am currently downloading the game, and will of course be giving it a try. I just had to thank you all for your understanding and furture support.

I had really felt I would never find a community as wonderful as the one I am being forced to leave. Thank you for giving me hope that I am wrong. I look forward to seeing and interacting with some of you.

You have the thanks of a COH vertran since beta of that game.

It is great to have you on board with us. I too was once a CoH...I can't believe it is going :frown:..

But I am sure alot of us are welcoming and will be happy to help show you the ropes and little tips and tricks.

As in any game there are annoying people and selfish people...in case you encounter them, please dont be put off >_< there are alot more (in my estimation) nicer and more friendly people who are ready to help where they can.

I hope you and others do stay with us ^_^ as things are looking up.

    Welcome to CO :D

    Welcome, heroes.

Now, that crime ain't gonna fight itself, quit jackin' yer jaws and go smack around some villains. I don't know how they grow heroes over there in Paragon Princess Plaza, but here in the MC we earn our keep! MOVE IT!!!

    Glad to have you guys.

Its simple without CoH there would be no CO.

Many of us play both. And some that dont play are still shocked by NC SOFT's idiot move . Their losses were due to other games (the making of GW2 for example) not anything to do with CoH.

My toon Distain was there in day one will be there when the game shuts.

My sympathies for the loss of a beloved game, and I do hope that you can find a home here.

My deepest sympathy for the loss of CoH. It was THE trailblazer for superhero MMO's and will be sorely missed.
Welcome to the wild and wonderful world of Champions Online!
Just a little heads up I mention to all new and returning players:
In their continuing efforts to destroy this game, our new Evil Overlords at PWI have neutered the Character Creator for new players. You will need to level 1 character to around level 10 (you can do this in between 1 and 5 hours depending on how much time you spend enjoying the scenery). At that point the entire character creator will unlock with all of your options enabled, depending on Gold or Silver membership.
    Hope this helps.

lol well rest assured it's not always roses & unicorns & butterflies, but overall this is one of the nicer gaming communities I've seen (even when it comes to PvP). Come at it with an open mind and expect to see random crap being said in MC zone. You might just like this new home (especially if you actually buy a hideout "home" for your hero(es)).

I for one always try to welcome and help out newbies when I see them, just as I had friend who helped me out when I just got started.

You should also check out the wiki's information, which is run by Lohr (not Cryptic). It's a bit outdated at the moment with regards to some of the new stuff so you'll want to check out the Combat & Powers section of these forums too.

    Key articles I would recommend:

    For Silver/Free Members: http://www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Archetype
For LTS or Gold Members: http://www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Power_Sets
    for all: http://www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Specialization_Tree
for all: http://www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Role (Important! Support does NOT necessarily mean healer!)

Longer campaigns meant to be played Elite difficulty with a full team of 5 for the full experience & challenge:
    http://www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Adventure_Pack
http://www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Comic_Series (these take place chronologically AFTER the first two Adventure Packs)

    http://www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Grond

http://www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Tourists..._of_DOOM! (careful! There are spoilers if you keep reading after this, but this is where one of the best plot lines in the game starts)

http://www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Perks (the points don't do anything at all, but these are your achievements & titles)

I believe it is activated right after the tutorial, but that you have to log off and relog for it to show the options in the tailor.

Clearly, clearly, clearly the best way to welcome new people to the game and help CO really gain a foothold within a new (prospective) player base.

In context, without Champions, there wouldn't have been a City of Heroes since Champions did inspire the original creators to create City of Heroes

Great to have you and all your CoH buds on board! I, too, was surprised at all the sympathy and the lack of rude comments. It truly was amazing to see everyone pull together and offer their support.

I encourage you and your friends to use the forums if you get stuck in any way, or have any questions. We've got lots of very helpful people around that can help you get started on character builds and anything else.

Hope you guys like the game, and wish to stay a good long while! We love the company!

I'm not a CoH player (tried it but didn't stay with it) but I think the helpful attitude of the CO community speaks volumes for the community. I've only ever dabbled in F2P CO on an irregular basis, but I may well actually sub to the game just on the basis of how great this community is.

Speaking on stand points, some of us may seem bitter, but we really do love Champions and the potential it offers. I get on Cryptic's case a lot, but I also understand that they are probably in between a rock and a hard place. They want to do more for the game, but unfortunately don't have the resources right now. So I hope we can breath new life and money into Champions as a whole and get it for them.

I know what the game desperately needs, and I hope it comes soon. They are trying at least with what they have, even if it doesn't seem like a lot.

Hopefully the paragon studios refugees, both player and developer, will increase COs numbers to a point where Cryptic will speed up new content development!
    POSITIVE ABOUT CO IN 2013!
