I'd really like some clarification here: Do we get a Jet as a mission reward item, and then subsequently have the chance to earn another jet randomly, or do we only have a random chance to earn any jet, period?
they never said that the jet was an automatic drop/reward. they always said "potential" and "chance"... this particular jet(s) from the nightwing mish are become devices that drop randomly. probably similar to darkspeed/ darkaura.
remember though there is an actual vehicle system in the works where you get the vehicle that you want... although im not sure how its gonna work
Actually, to my recollection, this is the first time it's ever been insinuated that the jets are a chanced reward. To date, it's only been basically mentioned that one can earn the jet during the Nighthawk missions, with no real specifics put forth. The words "potential" and "chance" have very different meanings when used in this context, with "potential" implying that you can potentially choose one of the vehicles from a selection of rewards; and "chance" implying that you have the chance of randomly earning one, with no control over the decision.
Granted, even this mention is somewhat confounding in its wording, but is more concrete than what we've had before.
Whether I'm misremembering things or not is besides the point, really. I personally feel it's kind of, I dunno, disingenuous of them to put the jets up as chanced rewards. Considering how hard they have been plugging the things, only to suddenly attach this caveat at the near-last moment, is rather off-putting.
And for the record, I know how the prototype jets work so far; I have been testing them on the PTS since they first came out. I've even tossed up my two cents for how the finished system will work in the Fall release, for what it's worth.
Reading this part of the release note:
I would've assumed the same thing. However, I guess it's more like when the Odyssey-class came to STO; everyone got to take it for a test drive (though in that instance, you still got it as a mission reward, but it was locked until you reached Vice Admiral rank).
No relation to "the" Nighthawk.
