Females without gigantic chest shadows?

I still can't figure out a way to do this. Even if I make a girl completely flat, when viewed from the front she still has these huge boobs "drawn" onto the chest texture.

Anyone know of a way around this, other than covering her in heavy armor? I'm trying to make a character who looks like a child.

Thanks in advance
Z

Stop staring at them. If you stop looking, it will go away.
    Sorry, had to say it.....

Actually i have never paid attention to the shadows....

Try modifying some of the chest depth and/or put clothes on her that make the torso look straight. Body mass also has something to do with breast size.

Body mass has something to do with it too, as mentioned above.

On a side note about your overall goal, head size and hand and feet size are key to making someone look 'kid like'; basically their head, hands and feet, should look a little big for their bodies, not at the scaling proportion.

    Just trust me on this.

I have a friend who occasionally makes kid toons, they all look like pinheads because she insists their head should be the same size vs the body as she'd make them if they were adults.

And, there's a bit you're just going to have to live with on making a flat chested toon. I have a toon who's 19 and supposed to be flat as a board [she's really scrawny] and I have the same issue you have. I just live with it.

You will also find that a lot of textures and costume bits will become unusable, they weren't made for the 'un-curved' nature of a flat girl. No getting around that either. I'm taking it as a challenge for this toon, but good luck.

I do recommend the t-shirt patterns for casual wear.

T-shirt patterns? I can't seem to find them ... all I find is "T Shirt" under Chest & Arms / Patterns. Where are they? I'd love to check them out.

And thanks guys, I know that Body Mass affects the character mesh, but it doesn't affect the texture. As you can see here, even with minimum Breasts and Body Mass, a character can actually have a sunken chest but still look pretty well stacked from the front because of the "painted on" shadows.

And gerberatetra, you can tell your friend that someone on the forums agrees with you; children and adults do indeed have different proportions :)

Don't forget to enlarge the eyes as they never grow larger as you age...

I know your going for a child look, therefore no breasts... however, aiming for small rather than none can actually minimize the effect of the shadowing. [clicky] If you play with the sliders on a small scale rather than flat then you can actually get an appearance that seems almost entirely flat chested... still noticeable that she has breasts but the shadowing effect is minimized enough that she appears to be flat chested.

Yeah, that's true raighn. I did mess around a little with increasing Breasts to make it not look completely weird. Actually, if you have minimum Body Mass and maximum Breasts, they're still very modest.

I was mainly hoping that someone knew about a costume piece that didn't have the huge shadow texture in the first place!

There should be a way to increase it further than it is... and put in jiggle mechanics.

No jiggle mechanics. I watched enough Night Elf Females bouncing around on Mailboxes for 7 years in another game. I am glad there is no mechanic like that here.

Also, I always cut down on body mass and chest depth to make the chest not so 'OMFG THERE IS NO WAY THOSE ARE REAL' looking.

    Multiple Personas, only 'One' me

I think people need to get over the big breast thing. It's a comic book world and only children and sometimes teenagers have no/small/normal breasts, among the females :P

As for the problem at hand, nothing can get rid of the shading/normal mapping that causes the breasts to look so deformed when smaller than 1/4 of the way or so.

Even worse: some costumes actually WARP their texture (as in, asymmetrically) when the breast slider is less than maxed.

The Harajuku vest is one such costume piece. However, it is the only thing I found worth using for a child character when I made my own. Good luck.
