Rediculous bug in Resistance.

I'm not sure the exact circumstances that caused the bug, but I'll describe the events.

I was taking one of my most hardcore survival characters into Resistance on Elite difficulty with a friend who was silver. I was 40, she was 38.

During the fight with Arcana, my silver friend died early on.

As soon as Arcana spawned the rift, she'd basically spawn one rift about every 45 seconds. It was growing out of control. It was all I could do to just kill the massive numbers of riftlings. By the time it was over, there were a total of 40 rifts (I counted them periodically by using tab/next target and counted how many it took before something that wasn't a rift was targetted.

I am NOT exagerating on these numbers. I was completely taken by surprise by both it and my actually managing to survive the onslaught. IT was like the Battle of Thermopylae in there and I wish that was an embellishment, but it's not. I ended up actually earning the Kill 5000 Qliphotic Horrors perks just off of that alone. Also, it was during Story Questionite Hour and we ended up both getting about 3900 questionite off of just riftling kills alone.

Anyway, eventually Arcana somehow became both targetable AND vulnerable. I took the opportunity to melt her HP away. The entire fight was something like half an hour long. When it ended, there must have been 60-70 riftlings swarming me. Thankfully the particular build I was using has so much damage resistance that they couldn't do more than 2 or 3 damage per attack.

Anyway, I've noticed similar bugs to this one. In Whiteout, at the beginning of the last mission, when you're just board the UFO, you basically get spammed with holds and they're impossible to break. The cutscene of you being captured never triggers. The only way out is to die, revive, and THEN get held again.

The end of the second to last mission of WhiteOut with the Roin'esh Commander, he ends up spamming both Master Villain and Supervillain tier copies of himself at you.

I can only imagine there's more super-spam throughout the game's story content since the August 24th patch.

    This bug has occurred before.

    The other one to check is Therakiel, where after the cutscene where he applies a chain hold on Caliburn, if you go anywhere near Caliburn you'll be hit with an impossible to break permanent hold. I haven't been able to test it lately myself, but I have a feeling the Therakiel fight is broken again too (because it was going on at the same time Arcana was having this glitch like you describe)

    This is a direct result of what I was saying in the "not again..." topic. The QA process is terri-bad. :frown:

    On the positive side, you can take this opportunity to test the limits of your crowd control capabilities.

    I am not attempting to in any way cast doubt on your count of the rifts, but tab targeting will sometimes go back and forth between the same targets multiple times before moving on to a new target.

    I have seen situations where, when using tab targeting to get to the owner (not stealthed) of two pets, I have tabbed as many as a dozen times back and forth between the pets before finally reaching the owner.

    Perhaps, but it was nothing but rifts that got targeted until it cycled through them all.

    What I do know is that there were an INORDINATE number of riftlings trying to smack the ever loving crap out of me and failing miserably. As much as I hate the fact the bug exists, that was one SERIOUSLY epic moment and my duo partner was like "holy crap".

    At one point we thought to just have me die so we can reset and try again and we did. Then when more than one rift appeared, she hung back and just watched... It was the freaking Battle of Thermopylae in there. There is absolutely no way the majority of players could manage that, especially on Elite which we were on.

    It needs to be fixed.

    BTW, I was using full Armadillo gear + Rank 3 Invulnerability, and 6x Fortified Gear specialization, hence the huge amount of defense. The character was built to turtle the crap out of anything... and Gravitar STILL uses her to mop the floor.
