This isnt a thread for a idea of a power but more for the concept of power sets. In City of Hero's each power set is built with mixture of stuff. Now in CO each set is missing something and that is more for defence aspect.
I think and i might get yelled at but each set should have its own unique active defence or maybe each group of power sets have one. The fact that there is no elemental active defence makes me think why not? Each framework is lacking something so why not add more to it. Yes it add time but people want unique sets give each power set a bonus to what it lacks. Elemental Sets would prob get some new meele attacks for those who love meele but want to use FIre or maybe Ice.
Why dont we have Fire Swords or Ice Swords. Crap even Ice Fist would be kewl this could open up pvp in a new way. Granted if the game got new powers some people might just take to many good ones. We need a Balenced game but maybe adding more can bring that. I highly reccomend a active defence that is highly immune to AoE dmg only. This Force Cascade **** has to stop and that is definitly a problem solver. I have few typos so please go easy on me. Your friend Frost ice
In regards to active defenses, the elemental set actually does have one if you decide to include Force as an 'elemental' sort, since it's clustered in that group. But, I'm pretty sure not many actually consider Force an element, and admittedly it'd be neat to have a fire active defense that greatly increases damage resistance and causes you to flare out into fire whenever struck.
Given the fact it can be used offensively, the defense value can be weaker than others. Maybe allow it to function as the equivalent of four-five stacks of defiance for the duration, and each time you're hit you basically explode and make everything take damage. This damage could even compliment tanking, since you'll generate additional threat while they hit you.
I'd totally love to see more melee oriented elemental sets like the Earth one. I think the thing about that is they want every set to have a 'gimmick' to set it apart from the others. They don't seem inclined to just reskin powers and make a new set. Each power set has to be fundamentally, at least slightly, different from the others. So if they do come out with more melee elemental sets, they'd be entirely separate power sets with their own styles of play, which will take time to develop.
I'd rather see a plant, or possibly water set before they come out with melee variations of the others.
