Hey Champs,

We're going to be having maintenance tomorrow morning at the normal time, 7-9 AM PDT. (That's 1400 - 1600 GMT, for all the Olympians out there.) Patch notes will be provided right before or slightly after maintenance is completed.

Remember that Friday is the end of the Hi-Pan: Fury of the Dragon alert! We'll be replacing it in the rotation with a classic Alert, which we'll announce tomorrow. Stay tuned!

    Also, I just want to give everyone a quick heads-up: Starting tomorrow, we will be experimenting with publicizing sales and events using the in-game broadcasts.

    I know everyone who comes to the forums on a regular basis is tuned in with what kinds of sales and events we're running, but this will help us reach players who are either more casual or don't check the forums. Even with the banners in the launcher and all the publicity on Facebook and the website, I know there were players who didn't know about the Questionite discount last week or the Ninja Vanish TP.

    Just to be clear, this will not be the popup that shows up for system messages. This will be a red message in the chat and a 2-3 second flash of the message in your HUD. If it's something you're interested in, it'll catch your eye and you'll be able to learn more -- if not, it will not disrupt your play in Champions.

    I really liked how the Hi-Pan alert gave costume pieces, devices, and questionite - is there any chance that the older ones can be reviewed to make them a little more enticing to play? I know "GRAB the money and run" had some costume pieces, but it didn't give questionite and the resource reward was minimal. Could that at least be upped to what other Grab missions give, and perhaps also count as a Grab mission? BTW, I do know that the Hi-Pan alert was considered in it's own category... I'm just saying the older ones could use a look-over.

    I hope that the in-game popup about promos and such isn't too intrusive...

    -It's an interesting point -- the standard rewards have kinda changed since Alerts were first introduced. It might be worth posting that in the Ask Cryptic thread.

    Only if they have a floating tour disk that flies around ren center buildings. That also doubles as a dance floor.

    personally i dont like in game adverts (including "unobtrusive" floating text types), but i do see the necessity. in a f2p market where the bulk of players are f2p you need to entice them to purchase your wares. however, saying that, i believe lifetimers (or other veteran gold members... say about the year mark or so) should have an option to turn off these adverts if they find them annoying. these people are already paid for and paying for customers, you dont want to make thier game time less enjoyable... ive personally left other games because of finding "to many annoying market pushes" as part of game play. now I'M not threatening to quit but many other gold members have been becoming less and less satisfied... ive lost many a friend in game due to their frustrations... i think you should like to hold on to them longer.

    and it would be an additional incentive to go gold.....

    That's an interesting suggestion.

    However, I think it'd not reach as many as the upcoming chat-box-plus-on-screen text, but it could be a supplement to it.

    There would be a problem with using in-game elements for out-of-game ads though; it would break the fourth wall (if that bothers anyone, which I'm sure it does) quite severely.

    The question is still .. how often do we get those messages ? Not that it is like we have
    now Goldsellers ingame that constantly spam the chat. And yes .. i also think it would be
    good to have an option to disable that completly.

    Stoopidme, please be adviced that the UK isn't on GMT right now, but on BST (GMT+1).
    Most of Europe is on CEST(GMT+2) instead of CET(GMT+1), or EEST(GMT+3) instead of EET(GMT+2).

    Now to get people actually reading these....
    Like the whole On Alert info Plash, which gives basic info about the Mods, Questionite and stuff. Most people seem to just 'clickclickclick' thru it seeing the questions asked in zone.
    But hey, reading today is so like 'whatevaaaa'.
    Maybe make these info plashes to Cutscenes, unskippable cutscenes.....or Tweet them...or send them as FB apps...

    -The Harmon Labs Heist alert will be added to the rotation on Friday. This alert will be around until August 23.


    C-Store
    -Freeform Chance Boxes have been added for 100 ZEN.
    -11-packs of Freeform Chance Boxes have been added for 1,000 ZEN.
    -Power Armor Bundle added to C-Store. This combines the Power Armor costume set and the Energy Slide travel power. The bundle is 20% cheaper than buying both items individually, for a total of 800 ZEN.

    Got my hopes up for nothing,well at least we have the grab bag back,maybe I can get another FF slot from that thing again!

    And also I just bought that energy slide TP and now I could have gotten a costume pack with it too!?!?!

    none of the nighthawk mission content itself has even been tested yet, were jsut getting done withthe new powers and AT now, sitlll some tweaks to be made yet even

    you you could by accident pay more for the one missing thing than its worth. It should really
    be grayed out if you have already one part.

    That's beyond the capabilities of the system, AFAIK. It's just not 'smart' enough to know that. Also, I've heard that if you own both already, it says 'Free For Gold' and not 'Purchased' in the corner, simply because you don't 'own' the combo package (as you never bought it), just the components.

    After I logged in and saw the Q exchange prices skyrocket due to the FF grab bag,it really takes away the good thing about it,I mean even drifter has his old inventory back but not his daily,if he had his old daily back,then there would actually be a reason to care about the FF slot grab bag.

    ...And we're testing new tech. that allows us to automatically detect if customers have previously purchased individual pieces of now bundled products that will automatically refund the difference! :biggrin:

    The 11 pack is kinda funny in how it points out how stupid someone is for taking a slew of crappy chances instead of just saving up for the sure thing. I mean if you're trying your luck why are you buying in bulk? The real bulk purchase is buying it outright!

    They should have a 60-pack for 5,000 zen. trolololololololololol

    I certainly hope so as well Raven. It's one thing to gain something by adverting it up on the screen, but another bite in the tailbone if this makes this game a nuisance.
