No more Non-recurring subscriptions?

I'm not sure if I've been looking in the wrong place for a non-recurring gold subscription, which was normally listed above the Lifetime deal - It's not there any more, so... is that out of the option or do I specifically have to get a recurring subscription?

This raises many questions I don't want to ask myself, or it may simply be something I am missing.

I could be wrong but I don't think that was ever an option, even before Free To Play.

There was never a non-recurring subscription model. If you wanted to pay one time you would subscribe, then cancel afterwards after you paid. Or you would use game time cards.

Nope, there was definitely a non-reccurring 30 day subscription available - I never remember having to cancel anything and I never remember having been charged each month, so I have no idea.

Do you know if canceling a reccuring subscription leaves you with game time?

In my experience, canceling a sub still leaves you with time until your 30 days are up.

And I do know that at least as of when I started playing, the only non-recurring options were playing for free as a Silver, or going LTS.

I'm sorry, you are mis-remembering things then. Or you were using game time cards and don't remember.

Actually there was a non-reoccurring online option, but i want to say it was basically a digital time card instead of a physical one. it was at the very bottom of the subscription options page. No idea how long ago it went away though.

You are not mis-remembering things. Above the LTS option, you could choose a non-recurring 30 day digital time card. Now it's gone, for whatever reason. I am certain of this, as it's been the method I've been using. It probably went away very recently, as my last month was purchased via that.

Indeed, there was this option, as well as atari-time-cards, that was a non recurring sub. They either got removed at the On Alert patch or when they changed this page/forums.

It happened with the site upgrade, but after the On Alert patch. I'm actually a bit upset with this, as the non-recurring variant was my primary means of paying for my sub for a couple of reasons.

So what exactly were you using to pay for the time card???

You can still do that, subscribe then after it's confirmed remove your card from your payment information.

It would be nice to see it come back. Are there any options like it on the Perfect World site? Can PW gamecards be used for the cryptic games yet?

I also won't be playing gold anymore because of this. For as long as I've been playing this game, I've kept my gold status going by using the digital time-cards with a bank debit-card. I won't be coerced into adding another monthly bill onto my account or committing myself to a long-term uninterrupted subscription. I actually enjoyed the freedom of switching back and forth between Gold and Silver depending on how I want to spend my money each month.
Constantly having to cancel / resub and dealing with bank confusions is a headache I don't want. Buying physical time-cards from amazon and getting them in snail-mail (if they're even valid) is yet another.

So PWE and Cryptic no longer wish to receive money from players like me. There's plenty of other people willing to sub, I guess. There's also plenty of other MMO's...

    Wewt!

Hey guys I found a workaround. Apparently the page to buy the 30-day time cards is still leftover from the launcher, the site just doesn't seem to link to it. Not sure if it's intended or not, but I just bought another 30 days and am playing GOLD again.

I'll post the URL to the page that still has the 30-day time card option below. Enjoy! :D
