Assault Rifle vs Sniper Rifle

Playing around with both these powers in the power house recently, I'm starting to wonder if, ever since the change to Assault Rifle ( the one where Mow Em Down was basically baked into the basic power ) if Assault Rifle is now equal or even better dps than Sniper Rifle. Sniper rifle is still the undisputed munitions champ of burst damage of course.

I guess the problem is, Assault Rifle's dps is difficult to calculate. The power description doesn't really show how fast the damage ramps up while maintaining it.

Wondering if anyone else has some input on how assault rifle stacks up against sniper rifle, dps-wise, since the change.

Ive never used one without the other. SR is a killer alpha. AR is the best ST attack of munitions. I cant see how SR would be used as a main ST attack unless you are planning a group only build or serious crowd control build/ AGRO dump build.

I'm pretty sure that Assault Rifle's going to be better DPS unless you're an edge case like using an Eagle at max range with infinite energy and no interruptions.

Someone who's ran the numbers or that can actually access PTS without crashing (:frown:) will likely come by and either confirm or refute my assertion shortly.

I don't have any definite numbers, but I'm pretty sure that AR will do better overall sustained DPS as opposed to SRs long charge. Plus you can move while maintaining AR. SR is still great as an opening alpha strike though.

SR is neat, but generally a waste of a power slot. It just takes to long to charge
