We're going to be having maintenance at a bit of a nonstandard time this week. Maintenance will begin at noon (Pacific) or 1 PM, Friday July 27. Estimated time of completion is two hours after it begins. (Note that, due to technical issues, this is delayed from 12:01 AM.)
Thank you all for your patience with this.
After the servers open back up, you'll learn the fiendish culmination of Hi-Pan's plot. Can you and your team stop him before Millennium City is enslaved? The world is watching, heroes!
So why did the servers come down last night at midnight? Was that just a practice run for this server shutdown? I cant find any posts about the sutdown last night, I just know my friends & I were kicked out of the game, ruining our evening at midnight PST (PDT?) last night. Do we get a refund for our lost time to play?

You're scheduling maintenance during prime time for the sake of something that could wait a day or a week or a month and no one would care?
Why not put maintenance in the middle of the night like most games do, except when there's some emergency that makes the game unplayable without maintenance?
What was the deal with the shutdown earlier? No patch notes, no posts, no communications about it at all. What gives? Are we just gonna pretend it didn't happen?
It makes one wonder why they didn't just implement this update at that time. And if it wasn't ready right then, why the heck was the game brought down at all? For appearances?
We can beg for better communications with the playerbase for only so long before it starts looking like incompetence. Even a simple, "Whoops," would probably get more respect.
"Cryptic, fix the bugs! Fix the lags! Fix the drops! Fix everything!!"
"Okay, the game will be down for maintenance for up to two hours..."
"CRYPTIC, WHY YOU GOTTA INTERRUPT MY PLAYTIME?!?"
It's a wonder they even bother any more...
Edit: Dimitrik, what do you mean "no posts, no communication about it at all"? There were indeed posts about it, just as this thread exists. And in-game notifications, enough that last night the Zone Chat was full of it. (Of course, Zone Chat is usually full of it, so there's that.) It's not Cryptic's fault if you only check in every so often...
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"
"(Note that, due to technical issues, this is delayed from 12:01 AM.)"
Now maybe I put too much faith in the average user's cognitive ability, but seems to me that indicates there was a problem with patch deployment when they took the servers down earlier.
Notes are up now, by the way. New alert, new costume set, new travel power.

Well, I don't mind admitting when I'm wrong. And here, I seem to be. I didn't see the thread when I first looked for it. So, there you go. My apologies.
Though, check in "every so often"? Man, you're a terrible stalker.
Maintenance last night was attempted, but issues were discovered that would've hurt the player experience, so we rolled back and took another stab at it today.
The release notes (along with the blog posts) were scheduled to go live at the end of maintenance, but since the maintenance was rolled back, we held off on the release notes as well.
EDIT: Also, dimitrik, I think one of the reasons you didn't see the thread was actually my fault. I posted the thread in the main forum, instead of here. Still getting used to a forum where people actually check the section marked "Important," I suppose.

I really appreciate that you took the time to make this post. That was cool of you. And I'm happy to eat my words.

No problem -- a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff keeps me from having much time to spend on the forums, but if there's a quick thing I can clarify, I'm more than happy to do so.
Mmmm... you kinda just bugged the targetting system. Now if you press tab it targets from farthest to closest.
No, im not retarded (this time), I did not change the target priorities settings. This has happened to some other friends.
Please, be cool and next time you add some half worked lame **** new content, try not to bug other stuff, specially when its something important like targetting.

My 2 cents!
Do you get punched a lot? You seem like the kind of person who would get punched a lot.
Exiting the game and relaunching seems to fix it (?). The bug apparently triggers at random when you log in.
Also, while am at it:
Hi Pan Custom Alert: When you receive a costume unlock or item from Hi Pan's Chest, system message does not appear informing you what you got. Also, may I suggest changing the Alert type of name to something else. Custom, really? Why not name it Default then. My suggestion: Onslaught.
Also Hi Pan's Ying and Yang attack: the area of effect of the black circle (Damage) is bigger than the FX would suggest, while the area of effect of the white circle (Healing) is smaller than the FX would suggest.
