Damage Inconsistency ?

smuggl3rsmuggl3r Posts: 56 Arc User
Wasnt sure exactly where to put this so here goes,

Been doing alerts between missions. Noticed that my damage at 32 is lower than it was at 26. Checked power descriptions, character sheet numbers, nothing explains it. All numbers are better now than then, but actual damage in play is lower. Bugged, or am I missing something ?

What level is your toon? If it's higher than 30, it gets automatically sidekicked down to level 30 and your damage output will decrease as well. Tooltips on your power tray should reflect the damage decrease, but I don't know about the actual descriptions in the power menu.

    Sorry for not being clear.

My damage now, when I am level 32, is lower than it was yesterday when I was level 26.

I went up six levels and my damage went down. I understand that when I go into alerts I am side kicked down to level 30, but why would that drop my damage to below level 26 numbers ? I get that I would lose two levels worth of damage when I lose two levels, but why lose more than 6 levels of damage ?

Ridiculously inconsistent sidekicking measures. You experience a significant dropoff just for being over level 30 (something around the 30-40% range has been reported) by one level. In spite of the fact that stat gain/etc. is unlikely to have changed that much.

It's more then a little silly.

    [SIGPIC]Also, this poster rambles.[/SIGPIC]

This supposed to equalize for low level characters since they have fewer powers ?

Seems like an iffy way to do it though. Not a good idea to make people regret leveling up.

To be fair, it's only an issue in Alerts. In regular content, and as long as you're not sidekicked, you should be fine. Lower-leveled characters also get a boost when sidekicked up (and it may be just as wonky then, haven't heard much discussion on how much of an exact boost is given) to try and find a 'medium'. Unfortunately, it's really schizophrenic about the whole thing.

The only place at the moment it really comes up in a lot is Alerts, and it's sort of an inevitable thing to deal with if you're doing them as the only content you ever do (or even just the majority of it).

Yeah, not too worried about it. Still no problems putting mobs down. Just thought it was odd and wondered why it was happening. Guess Ill miss 1800 damage snap shots, but taking an extra second to defeat a bad guy is no big deal.

    Anyway thanks for the answers.

Ps: still cant get over not getting called an f'ing noob, being told learn to play, and all that crap for asking questions.

I never really paid full attention to damage number differences when it comes to Alerts but it doesn't suprise me if that's really the case. "Inconsistency" is one of Cryptic's enduring qualities anyway.

    No kidding.

And actually, the near-exact number in my experience is a 50% drop off in damage going from level 40 to 30 in Alerts. And what seems to be a comparable amount of HP too.

An example of my Invuln crit build with Ligtning Arc :

At level 40 with all purple gear and 115% crit severity max Crit is somewhere around 2000
    Now in alerts its 1000
while a level 25 character with Heirloom Gear suddenly does also 2000.

However i'm not sure if the damage is really that low with 40 or if its just that the shown
numbers are wrong, since a level 40 team can finish an alert really the fastest, and also
i can hold aggro with 40 the same way as with 25.

The damage scaler goes down to level 30, characters less than 30 get an extra increase to help compensate for lank of ranks, powers and stats. If you look over your super stats, you should actually see an increase in your bonuses, unless your gear is just really bad.
