Many people here have problems fighting the new player-created villains, and not only with their various bugs. That's another problem altogether, but still a problem.
See, these guys are a lot stronger than the average alert villain. They are Legendaries, not just Supervillains. They are far too strong for the average alert player and downright invincible in certain types of alerts.
What really bugs me about them though is that practical players have absolutely no reason to play their alerts! At all! They don't drop anything worth more than any other (easier) alert villain. They don't drop costume unlockers, for obvious reasons. And I don't think the idea of them droping Questionite ever crossed your mind. But you could at least have added a perk for players who have fougth either of them at least once. But no!
What we got here are just more difficult, but unrewarding alternative boss fights.
So here are my suggestion to make those fights pay off:
* Make them actually drop Questionite. These villains are technically nemeses, except a lot stronger. If anything except Rampage villains justifies Questionite drops, it's them!
* If not Questionite, make them drop more Resources in Grabs, More XP in Smashes and higher mods in Bursts. That way, we get rewards and you can keep the Q market wherever you want it.
* Definitelly add a collection perk and a title for defeating them all. That's the least you should do.
/signed. First alert I did was against one of these. My first thought was "damn, hate on archetypes much?" because I seriously died 10 times no matter how much I blocked and how much attention the healer gave me. I finally the boss taken down, with a pack, and the reward was a *joke*. Haven't gone back, there's simply no incentive.
In game, I am @EvilTaco. Happily killing purple gang members since May 2008.
I like the new Alerts .. they simply bring players to play LESS Alerts .. Great Job Cryptic
My suggestion :
Give all Alert Bosses the overpowered Darkness Aura .. or PFF .. and we can finally again
start to ignore that whole Alert Crap and turn back to normal
this thread is silly, given Ao has the op darkness bug, but over all? theyre all great villains, some presenting a nice challenge...though i woudl like gas arrows adv to be amped up to the level of Devonna Hawkes. with some "beefed up" abilities, i greatly enjoy these alert villains and their challenge level, the rest of the villains should be upgraded to match.
ALL alert villains are legendary class to begin with. If you and other people feel that the challenge presents no reason to run alerts, i think thats pretty sad, as with every smash alert you complete, you earn the XP equivalent to running say, Telios Tower, Therakiels Temple, etc, all earned normally in 2-4 minuets!
no incentive? maybe youre just not paying attention
not to mention i think the Baron and nemesis still dropping Q in alerts is a bug. if you made the new alert villains all drop Q, well, lets look at our old friend dockside dustup Blackfang.
theyre SUPPOSED to be hard, if youre going to complain about their difficulty, stay out of the endgame lairs.
my suggestion to the OP and anyone who feels the same, find a worth while team to run with. a well balanced team can take on most challenges in this game, and have fun with it. yes, even the glass as hell DPS. A good, solid team to run with makes all the difference.
P.S. would really help if lv 6 players werent allowed to join alerts too, that would help alot, like adventure packs, they should be at least lv 11 to join alert queues. This would also help with the "difficulty" situation
Only Ao is too strong, the other 5 are embarrassingly weak with the exception of Devana Hawke and her nub check power. And outside of that even she's embarrassingly weak compared to other villains. Ao is the only problem due to darkness aura.
My first thought was "damn, hate on archetypes much?"
Done alot of alerts over the last few days. Only boss to cause problems has been that AO guy. New to the game, only have an AT (Archer), haven't spent much time on gear yet, and don't feel any hate from these bosses. Easiest boss fights Ive seen in an MMO really. Still, can suck if people do stupid things like aggroing the whole map and the boss at once. Thing is that Cryptic cant cure stupid.

I think that there has been a bit of a miscommunication. If I am reading the original post correctly, it was not a complaint about the difficulty of the Alerts. Not a nerf request. It was a simple statement. These are special Alerts. They are supposed to be more difficult than average, which they usually are. It would be nice, therefore, especially seeing that they originated with player generated content, if they got a special reward in line with their origins and somewhat greater than normal challenge rating.
'Wen considered the nature of time and understood that the universe is, instant by instant, recreated anew. Therefore, he understood, there is in truth no past, only a memory of the past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. Therefore, he said, the only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.' Terry Pratchet The Thief Of Time
re-reading it [OP] over, it felt like passive complaining, even if unintended, i sitl lstand by my original statement for the masses to see.
yes they dont drop Q, they dont drop costumes, but the alert rewards are more or less up to par. in SMASH alerts you get enough XP equivilant to completing a lair on your level, within 2-4 minuets. ifthats nto enough incentive to run an alert, i dunno what is, and as other have stated, the new alert villains, aside from Ao, are rather underpowered
I've been running the new villains since On Alert went live, and I don't find them particularly more or less difficult than the initial crew. In fact, the only one that seems out of line is Baron C; I don't even do Pyramid Power or Dockside Dustup if he's in it, because of his "instakill counterstrike" or whatever it is.
But I do support a small Perk and title for defeating all six of the new folks. I'd also like to see Rogues Gallery Perks for defeating their various Minions, as well as those of the old folks that don't have RG Perks (like Cairngorn Stoneblood and Mr. Gemini).
As for a drop, I understand that there are boss costume drops from the old guys (though I've never gotten anything other than GRAB or Red Winter drops myself), and the new ones have nothing of the sort. Someone in another thread suggested Action Figures for the new guys, but a chance (I say, a chance) at dropping Questionite might be just as good.
I think they are alright, its also a great reward for those who won the contest see their villains in the game (wish I had applied).
Im a bit frustrated because I was expecting those villains to have unique looks, I know they were made using the game tailor, the costume they use are accessible by everyone, but I was expecting some small customizations on their looks (keeping similar to the original art) just to give us new costume pieces to hunt.
TOKENS!!! For Alerts Token Shop! For costume pieces from Alerts! For AF's of villains in Alerts! Who cares about 1 new token/currency since theres allready dozen of them! Titles! Perks! Statues to RenCenter! Streets named after you! Babies named after you! Screaming teenagefangirls!
Thanks!

I agreed with this hardly.
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"
For example, a Mindslayer one could have an item: Mindslayer's Hair with the description "This is some really fancy dancy hair you've got there. Wait. You got it off a supervillain's unconscious body? DUDE. CREEPY. DON'T KEEP IT. GET RID OF IT, QUICK."
Or Hi Pan: Fancy Hat. "This is a fancy hat. Do you feel rad wearing it? Odd though, you can feel a slight tingling sensation, and the sound of a reptillian voice speaking in what appears to be a dialect of Mandarin Chinese"
Basically, a name relating to the villain in question, a funny description that's related to it, and some stats that make sense in context of the item's properties (for example, Fancy Hat, might give a boost to Intelligence, being a magic hat from a magic man. Mindslayer's hair could increase your Constitution since there was once a urban legend that hair wrapped around your hands would stop caning in schools back when that was a thing from hurting so much (kids from corporal punishment days have WEIRD stories as adults.))
Bonus points if they sorta sound like quest hooks even though you might not want to make more missions with these characters, it makes people interested in them, which is awesome as interest in a character means emotional investment in the game.

I would rather see Mindslayer/medusa's hair as a costume peice, maybe name it "Psi hair" or energy hair?
