Hey guys in still new. I've made a power armor tank and I'm only lvl 15 freeform.
My skills are all laser blade attacks from power armor set. The auto attack, the combo, the chargeable lunge, and the chargeable melee aoe. I've picked up laser knight advance and invulnerability.
So please tell me what invulnerability actually does, I'm a little confused. And I'd like to have some kind of thorns affect (enemies take damage as they damage me) and maybe a self heal to be even more durable.
Invulnerability gives you excellent damage reduction and reduces any incoming damage additionally by a fixed amount.
My PA toon got it at Level 6 and it's great. Most mobs only do about 1 - 3 damage and rarely I get two or three-digits (exception: the big bosses). Even in Habrid-Role I can take some damage that way and it is very seldom I actually have to withdraw from a battle or use someting to heal myself.

But someone at PWE already had that handle, dammit!!!
I hope that you took Con as your Primary Super Stat. Tanks must have lots of HP. Take Resurgence from the Infernal power set. It's a good quick self-heal.
For "thorns" you might try Psychic Vortex from Telepathy or Sparkstorm from Electric. Sparkstorm has an Advantage that can make it a Toggle attack. I don't know if Power Armor Toggle powers will work when it's on or not.

I would disagree with the notion that CON should ALWAYS be your PSS. CON PSS is very good but the Specs available to a STR PSS are also very beneficial to tanks such as Juggernaut, the cost reduction for energy management and Severity buff in a crit build can go a long way to keeping aggro.
Even Ego PSS is quite viable with Force of Will for Ego Blade and ranged tanks.
Tanks with less than 10K HP have tanked Gravitar without healers around to help them. One tank uses Int as PSS (Paragon), mine use Ego or Str. Loading up CON as secondary is perfectly fine for many setups, my Skarn's Bane ranged tank has over 400 CON but has EGO as PSS.
Hit points aren't what makes a character survivable, layered defenses are, in my opinion. Hit points can be part of that, but you can build a perfectly viable tank without Con superstatted.
When considering your primary superstat I would argue that the associated spec tree should be weighted as heavily as the stats' inherent bonuses.

Thanks in advance!
Invul gives you great mitigation against weak, fast hitting mobs and ok mitigation against hard hitting mobs. If you are going to be tanking bosses and what not, I'd use defiance. My tank PA toon used Invul and kept dying in Alerts. I switched to Defiance and its so much better.
But if you are doing quests and grinding, Invul is one of the better mitigation skills.
Alerts/Boss fights - Defiance is better than Invul
Questing/Grinding - Invul is better than Defiance.
