Account guard is up now. If anyone's experiencing any issues with it, could you post here or shoot me a PM? Please be as specific as possible if you've got an issue, details are always helpful.
I read some posts about people and spam, though thanks for the advice.
I checked my email account.
I made sure my email was working.
I checked my secondary email, just in case I screwed up somehow.
I checked the spam folders.
I tried logging in on a different computer.
None of that worked.
Instead, this worked:
1. I created another email address
2. Changed my account to reflect a new email address
3. Tried logging in again
Then an email was sent to the new email address.
I can't believe I'm the only one who got locked out like this.
Most people never visit the forums.
You're probably not the only person who has gotten locked out, but I'd imagine most of those people are going to be the one that don't play often, only playing on occasion. Or students that were gone most of the summer break and come back in the fall. So you'll probably see more in the future and yes, there's not that many that use the forums.
Then again, why it exists is important. There was a breach of security announced awhile ago that angered a lot of customers, if you recall. So having this system is something that should have been done a loooong time ago. Meh, retrospect is nice, but what matters is going forward.
To that end, I would STRONG advise Perfect World to streamline logging in/out and make sure this new security system is easy to use and makes use of the "security questions" feature many sites use.
People do forget their keys occasionally, and it would be very wise to make sure there is a backup in case that happens, for everybody. Without having to try to contact customer service (and never get a productive response).
You know, there's a thread up there in the Super News Network that Trailturtle started so you could report these sorts of problems. But since y'all posted here and not where he was looking, he came to the conclusion that all was well.
Maybe a bit more time reading different subforums might help...
