Saboteur build?

horripilantehorripilante Posts: 341 Arc User
I was trying to create a build for a saboteur themed character.
Dont really know if should be aimed as a DPs or as some sort of debuff centered character (dunno if that even possible)
so far had is as a DPS

Was using the following Superstats :
Ego (primary)
Dex
Int

for talents i had:
Agile (+8 Dex)
Brilliant(+8 Int)
Indomitable (+8 Ego)
Coordinated ( +5 Dex, +5 Int)
Academics (+5,Int, +5 Ego)
Shooter (+5, Dex, +5 Ego)

For powers had
Single gun (energy unlock)
Barbed chain
Flame thrower
Gas pellet
Evasive Maneuvers
Strife Run

Using Quarry as slotted offensive

thanks for advice to complete it

You can use the HeroCreator to help w/ your build, and it also makes editing it easier for other people:

As for the build, I'm still not quite sure what you mean by 'saboteur', and the powers seem to be a bit thrown together. If you want, you could make an AoE CC build w/ Flamethrower's stun adv. One way to do that:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Ranged Damage)
    v3.34:32

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Intelligence (Primary)
    Level 10: Recovery (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Specialist (Dex: 10, Con: 10, Int: 8, Rec: 10)
    Level 6: Negotiator (Int: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 9: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 12: Healthy Mind (Con: 5, Int: 5)
    Level 15: Coordinated (Dex: 5, Int: 5)
    Level 18: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 21: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Gunslinger
Level 1: Flamethrower (Rank 2, Panic)
    Level 6: Killer Instinct
Level 8: Targeting Computer (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Manipulator
Level 14: Incendiary Grenade (Chemical Burn, Scorched Ground)
    Level 17: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Concussion Grenade (Rank 2, Stun Grenade)
Level 23: Mini Mines (Wall of Fire, Stim Pack)
    Level 26: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 29: Fire Snake (Rank 2, Trail Blazer)
Level 32: Energy Shield (Rank 2)
    Level 35: Imbue
    Level 38: Smoke Bomb
    Adv. Points: 32/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Intelligence: Enlightened (2/3)
    Intelligence: Battle of Wits (3/3)
    Intelligence: Detect Vulnerability (3/3)
    Intelligence: Expertise (2/2)
    Arbiter: Enforcer (1/3)
    Arbiter: Ruthless (2/2)
    Arbiter: Rend (2/2)
    Arbiter: Concussion (3/3)
    Arbiter: Enhanced Gear (2/3)
    Sentinel: Torment (2/2)
    Sentinel: Sentinel Aura (3/3)
    Sentinel: Moment of Need (2/3)
    Sentinel: Wither (2/2)
    Sentinel: Genesis (1/2)
    Mastery: Sentinel Mastery (1/1)

Concussion Grenade can be used as a reliable opener AoE stun, if needed. Else, just use the Fire Grenade and Firesnake when they're available, and otherwise channel the Flamethrower as your main attack. Mini Mines can also CC enemies that get close, and can be activated to give you another self-heal. Last 1-2 powers can be changed out for other things, if you want. Gears mostly for Int, w/ some Con and Rec.

Sorry for the old post bump, but with all the recent changes to the Gadgeteering power set I wanted to know if this build is still functional, or does it need any major changes?

Well, none of the powers in my build are from Gadgeteering, so nothing would necessarily have to change (assuming you want to keep the original focus of a Flamethrower + CC/debuff build). One update you could do, however, is get the Single-Minded adv on Flamethrower. This will lower its upfront dmg (vs. R2), but will greatly increase its sustained dmg. The only other issue is that Int PSS got updated, so you may want to get either Preparation or Tactician in t1 (prob keeping Battle of Wits if you want to boost the build's CC power). Also note that you can now get 3/3 in Ruthless for Arbiter spec (instead of putting the 1 extra point in Enforcer).

I would think that Particle Mine + Detonator from Gadget would fit a "saboteur" theme. Allows you to set multiple mines around an area and then detonate them all at once. Not fabulous dps but it fits the theme, in my opinion.

And, if you really want to try this, add Attack Toys and maybe the other 2 gadget pet powers, as all of them can be detonated, iirc, using Detonator.
