Need to update my "witch' build, aka 'Ultimate Magic Debuffer'

ragadolfragadolf Posts: 98 Arc User
Hello, back for some more advice, especially since a lot of the new updates are not found online anywhere to research.
AND I have to update this toon because of Magic & Skills updates.

I originally envisioned this toon as a combo Support/ultimate debuffer, using only Magic powers. And she was doing well, but then they nerfed the stacking of AOPM, so I'm thinking swapping to Spellcaster.
And I think I was double stacking some of the debuffs?
I used (almost) all MAgic powers, but I am fine with Magic, Dimensional and Toxic powers, (already have Curse & Will-O-Wisp)
The goal is to Debuff the bad guys as as possible, and If I can still make AoPM work, provide background support to any teammates.
Any thoughts, advice, etc appreciated, Thx!

This is the original build:

Spellcaster is a toggle/form, whereas AoPM is a slotted passive, so they don't really replace each other. I guess you mean using Enchanter instead of AoPM? That works fine (esp since you aren't using Pres for AoPM's effect on allies), but then I'd use the Ranged dps role, since there's not much use in playing on the Hybrid role w/ an offensive passive. You also prob don't need Eld Blast here (at least, not for the full build), and I may just use a normal self-rez instead of CoRG. It's also a bit redundant to get Cursed on the Wisp and use Hex (which already applies Hexed). Here's an example edit of the build, making it more of a dps that still uses spec debuffs (and general debuffs) to help allies, and trying not to change too much about it overall:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Ranged Damage)
    v3.45:38

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Intelligence (Primary)
    Level 10: Dexterity (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Glacier (Dex: 8, Con: 10, Int: 10, End: 10)
    Level 6: Negotiator (Int: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 9: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 12: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 15: Coordinated (Dex: 5, Int: 5)
Level 18: Healthy Mind (Con: 5, Int: 5)
    Level 21: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Eldritch Bolts
    Level 1: Enchanter (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 6: Conjuring
    Level 8: Concentration
    Level 11: Skarn's Bane (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 14: Will-o'-the-Wisp (Guide, Ghost Fire)
    Level 17: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 20: Soul Beam (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 23: Hex of Suffering (Rune of Lethargy, Rune of Dismay)
    Level 26: Curse (Jinxed)
    Level 29: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 32: Fiery Embrace
Level 35: Voodoo Doll (Rank 2)
Level 38: Crashing Incantation (Rank 2)
    Adv. Points: 32/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Intelligence: Preparation (2/2)
    Intelligence: Tactician (1/2)
    Intelligence: Battle of Wits (2/3)
    Intelligence: Detect Vulnerability (3/3)
    Intelligence: Expertise (2/2)
    Sentinel: Torment (2/2)
    Sentinel: Sentinel Aura (3/3)
    Sentinel: Moment of Need (3/3)
    Sentinel: Wither (2/2)
    Overseer: Administer (2/3)
    Overseer: Ruthless (3/3)
    Overseer: Impact (2/2)
    Overseer: Trapped (3/3)
    Mastery: Sentinel Mastery (1/1)

Ofc, it's not an early leveling build (one can train in Eld Blast early on if leveling with it, and then train out of it later).

The build uses the Wisp and Hex in general for Conjuring and their buffs/debuffs, Curse's stun to also help proc debuffs, Soul Beam for single-targets, and Skarn's for AoE. I'd also prob stick with Concentration as the toggle/form, since it'll generally be easier to proc here. Gears mostly for Int, w/ some Dex and Con.

Ah yes, It was late, Im getting my powers/terms confused.
I DID mean maybe swap AoPM w/ Enchanter. :)
And things like Guide on Wisp, & Hex being double of the same power, (Hex) exactly what I was asking about.

Thank you for the update ideas. (I luv Ghost Fire on Wisp, etc)
Question, would the original idea still be viable, (AoPM passive-support) if I swapped Ego for Pres as a Sec SS?
I would just need to slot enough PRE to make it viable at end-game lvl & special events. (like, I dont know, Tako?) :)

I guess as a DPS-Debuffer, Either Ego or Dex would work well? Or with Int Pri do you find that dex works better than Ego as Sec SS?

I agree that the build, (either version) doesnt REALLY need Eldritch Blast, but it does apply Mystified, which reduces cost of the powerset. (of course, I guess a high INT pri-SS doesnt really need much more cost reduction?) ;)

I see you added "Preparation" to the INT skill tree, but the build doesnt have any outright holds. UNless a stun counts as a hold??

I do agree that Fiery Return is better than CoRG (especially for a Ranged DPS) but I do like the CoRG effects, and the double-healing (although small, it is useful) when you summon the circle on top of each other. (You only have to move slightly, and then re-summon) The self-rez of CoRG is tricky (for me) though, I cant always get it right. :P

Thank you as always for your ideas. I appreciate it.

    Rags~

Yea, I'd only go for the AoPM route if you made your main stat Pres and went w/ the Support role (at least for groups). Same is true for any of the major aura passive in Sorc (AoED, AoAC, etc). If going that route, you may want a Pres-scaling toggle/form (like Compassion). Also, despite being in the Support role, the build wouldn't really be able to sub for a normal healer w/o a few changes, but it's up to you if that matters or not.
I guess as a DPS-Debuffer, Either Ego or Dex would work well? Or with Int Pri do you find that dex works better than Ego as Sec SS?

Int works well as it scales up both Concentration and Conjuring, so you can focus mostly on it if going for something like my build w/ Enchanter and the Ranged dps role. You could also try Dex PSS w/ Int SS (DEX/Int/Con) if you want more sustained dps (still focusing on Int), but either approach can work. EGO/Int/Con_Dex could also be fine (still Int-focused), as could prob a few others, so ultimately it's up to you on what SS setup to take.
I see you added "Preparation" to the INT skill tree, but the build doesnt have any outright holds. UNless a stun counts as a hold??

With the Int tree revamp, Preparation now offers defense and Tactician still gives offense (scaling w/ your 2ndary SSs), and these would be the default bottom-row picks if making a generic dps build w/ Int PSS.
Battle of Wits still increases hold strength, and Stuns are technically a hold (which also don't break early to inc dmg, so they are better for trash, though bosses are still mostly CC immune). So you can still benefit from hold bonuses for them, but it's up to you if you care about that or not (and you could get any combination of Battle of Wits and/or Tactician, depending on your preference).
I agree that the build, (either version) doesnt REALLY need Eldritch Blast, but it does apply Mystified, which reduces cost of the powerset. (of course, I guess a high INT pri-SS doesnt really need much more cost reduction?) ;)

Yea, Mystified is a pretty minor effect on its own, and esp with Int and/or cost discount rating on gear_specs. Imo, you'd mainly get it if you needed a source of an Enchantment buff to boost Soul Beam's dmg, but you already have that here w/ Illum's buff from the Wisp's Guide adv.

Yea, CoRG's extra heals can be alright, but then you make the self-rez aspect more of a gamble vs. a normal self-rez. It's just another playstyle-related thing that you can decide for yourself based on personal preference. You can also opt to train the more experimental powers/advs like that for last, so re-training them in the future isn't as expensive.

Regardless, hope you like whatever build you end up using, and you can always check back if you need more help.

    Thank you (again) Flow!
Your suggestions and input are always appreciated!
Time to get back to the drawing board, and do a re-vamp!
(I guess I'm going to have to make my own off-line list of the new skill trees changes, or I'll never get them straight!) ;P
