Kiga Fight

Ya know how if there's no CC at ape, you can still kill hearts if everyone works together to do it right? Could some type of mechanic be implemented for Kiga where if theres no CC, theres some way to put down those darn blasted dogs?

To be fair, the "intended" method for Kiga is to have five tanks; one for Kiga himself and one for each dog.

The simple fact of the matter is, however, that that is an objectively stupid method and we've elected to ignore it.
The fact that the forums refuse to tell you how close you are to the character/post size limit until you attempt to post something that happens to be too big- and the automated spam filter will immediately completely lock you out of posting long-term if you attempt to post or edit posts too close to the character limit- is genuine agony.

This is my cry for help

As for Qwyjibo, long in the past, we were taking out the hearts instead of CCing them. The Dev(s) decided they didn't want us doing that, so they increased heart health in an attempt to make that a non-viable option.

Today, we can still decide to attack the hearts instead of CCing. This works if we have enough dps coordinated on the attacks. Or enough OP dps.

Of course, everyone hates the lava fields. No matter what, there are always a few or more that just can't survive the overlapping damage as they move forward again. And, you have some players that will leap forward because it helps "their" dps.

Personally, I dislike the way his fire breath cone works. If you are, what looks like, just a little behind and on his left, you still get hit by the breath. Whereas, the identical position on the right is safe. Plus, if you are melee, you have to contend MORE often, in my opinion, with the "meteor/lava rock from the sky" circles spamming your group.

In general, all 3 Cosmics are PITA for melee as there is just a smallish area to safely attack from. And there is almost always some jostling that puts "you" into the danger zone.

To the best of my knowledge, this was a still a method to consider when the Zone cap was 50 instead of 35.

But I do agree: the methodology which has to be applied to beat the combat encounter with Kigatilik and the Hounds is suboptimal at best, and impossible at worst.

Crowd Control in general is woefully underutilized in the game - up to the point there is zero tutorial for it, and players wanting to take up the thankless task have to rely on general knowledge from other players and "first time cc pls be patient" (or paying up to have PTS access for more chances at practice).

So yes - Kigatilik would benefit from having an alternate clearing method.

A basic maxim is that players will always choose the route of least resistance. E.g. we could do the dogs with 5 tanks and a couple extra healers, but it is simpler to CC them, at least for the dps who watch the poor person who takes up that chore. Imagine trying to get 3-4 of the dps to alt to tanks to dog sit!!!! Kiga would ever happen. So, if an easier method comes along, 99% of all runs will soon end up using that easier version. Just look at dino. MTing mom dino is vastly easier with a soak tank, but there are times of the day when it's barely possible to get even 2 tanks. Not that there aren't enough people for there to be a soak tank, but players want to pew pew instead. It's easier for them not to soak, so that's what they do.

And to continue on Jaaz's comment, so many players are unwilling to attempt the needed roles.

I don't play as often as I used to or as I'd like to. But, most of the time, if someone is new to a role AND they comment about it, they receive a great deal of support, in attempting to fill that role, from other players.

Same for those that are thinking about filling a role. None of these roles require Endgame gearing, unless you INTEND to solo tank Dino. Plenty of very knowledgeable players can help with build, gear, etc suggestions. And never worry about failing. All of us have and sometimes still do. But, we learn and get better. Or adapt to a new meta or Dev change.

Frankly, I don't always want clean runs at the Cosmics. Gets boring. Of course, forever runs get boring too.

    Not to mention, Interrupts

Kiga's Dogs are the only endgame content in the entire game that REQUIRES Tank(s) - Dog Walkers to have an interrupt to stop their Howls

With Backhand Chop being the best one

The other issue, beside the zone cap of 50 instead of 35 at the time, is those tanks still need to have some sort of CC to CC the dog. So you expected at least 4 tanks, each have their own CC, and are expected to CC the dog during the storm. Its one of the reason why taking damage from dog give you so many points, since we had weeks of tanks not getting credit dog tanking during that kiga. This also lead to players wanting to bring a character to get the GCR, but no one wants to bring a tank to dog tank.
