well, i tried...

you're hosting a costume contest, today, in which the only way to enter is to spend zen to buy the swamp pack? because aside from the stuff in the zen store, there's practically no plant costume parts in the game. i have just about every costume piece available in-game, and i have almost nothing that looks like a plant. i just spent the last hour trying to find plant parts in my account's costume pieces. almost nothing. got snowman arms and vine bracers. no bark skin texture. no leaf hair.

yet another example of the dev team being completely out of touch with what happens in the game. they don't play it and dev accounts have all costume pieces unlocked by default, so they don't know and don't care what you can't do without zen.

I'm entering my character Aiko (the one that my avatar is based on), and I am using approximately one plant/wood costume part — and that's for one hand. It could easily be done with a skeletal hand instead, but I was lucky enough to get the plant limbs a couple of years back. The rest of her costume has no relation to any plant costume set. I just used a few shades of green and brown to make her look 'natural' (if a little plant girl can be considered natural). Part of the fun of a CC is attempting to make something fit when you don't have very many costume sets to choose from. I remember struggling too, but it's been fun to slowly figure out methods of making something work without a more well-suited costume part.

Don't give up, fellow player! Costumes aren't the be-all-and-end-all of this game, but I agree that it can be tough to put something together for a fairly narrow-focused theme. If it doesn't work, there's no harm done as long as you don't spend money on the design (You can always save the costume using the save button and come back to it).

Not sure why this is suprising. CCs are geared towards people who have been able to buy (by whatever means) or grind lots of costume parts and auras. Imagine showing up as a new silver player in your basic costume pieces. You have no chance of winning. CCs are a way to get players to invest money and/or time in the game.

I disagree. Not entirely, but largely. When I was a new player, admittedly subscribed, but with only those costumes unlocked by the sub., I won a couple of CCs over the year that I played before going LTS. And some of the unlocked costumes weren't the fits they might have first seemed for the themes.

I don't deny that competing in a CC is difficult with basic costume parts, but stating categorically that there is no chance of winning is somewhat self-defeating. As the old saying goes: something that you never try is something you will always fail (or words to that effect — I off-hand can't remember the actual proverb/phrase).

You do have a very good point!

There are barely enough Plant-related costumes
