Oh, and I'd also kind of like to go with his main weapon being a sword, but having one arm be a cannon. I forget which powers make it look that way, but if possible I'd love to have it in my build.
Not much practical reason to mix hand blaster-type attacks w/ a melee tank build, but I guess you can include one for a long-ranged tagging option. Here's an example build:

For single-targets, it uses Lightspeed Strike for PBurn and Disintegrate, and also throws in Lumi Slash when energy is abundant for some extra dmg/threat. Lightweave Slash can be the main, wide AoE attack (though Lightspeed Strike can also cleave). Tac Missiles isn't a main attack here (nor will it hit that hard), but can be used as a long-ranged tag. Gears mostly for Con, w/ some Dex and End (and some cost discount on gear).
Mine is similar to Flow's. Take out what you want for the hand canon. I use the device to give me a ranged opener when I am soloing things. Handles Cosmics, TA, solo QWZ, Eido just fine.
