Just theorycrafting with particle PA.

Just theory crafting with particle PA and wondering what I can do with it, came up with a somewhat weird build after talking with a friend. The idea is that elec form buffs the particle attacks and lends enough energy to power things so that either con or dex can be taken easily as a third SS. I should mention the character has Ultimate Chest Beam as well as FAW so I can replace FAW with something fun. Anyways here's the build for discussion:

    TC is still a very strong passive for PA, but Elec Form works fine for Particle-based PA builds, sure. Shoulder Launcher is partly Crushing dmg, though, so Elec Form won't fully boost that power, and Chest Beam is not technically a slotted PA power, so (ult aside) there will be lockout issues if you try to employ it w/ the slotted attacks.

    I've further refined the build, added Int as a PSS for the Preparation spec power and added Chest Laser. Chest Beam is for Buff/Debuffing. Also Shoulder Launcher is partly crush, partly particle so its somewhat boosted but its massive amount of damage makes up for its losses to crushing.

    It's better, I suppose, though you'll have higher energy demands now that you can run 3 attack toggles at once (at least, if you want optimal dps from it). It's a minor change overall, but you can move a point in Guardian's Find the Mark to max The Best Defense in builds that use multiple maintains or attack toggles. Prob worth testing the build out in the PH/PTS to see how it fares, regardless.

    PSmash is limited to 25ft (since it's technically a melee power), and it's also not slotted PA, so its usefulness is more limited here (you may just want to get Chest Laser to R3 for more straightforward dps that also allows you to stay at range and save a power slot). I'd prob move a point from Focused Strikes to Mass Destruction in Vind spec, and also move a point from Find the Mark to The Best Defense in Guardian.

    If energy is an issue, Swap Rec for Con, drop Particle Smash and a rank from LnL and take Invulnerability r3 for when you need to be tough.

    Here's the build I'm currently working with. I'm in heroic gear with some purple secondaries you get for 15 scr each from the recog vendor. I have zero energy issues and a lot of damage.

    Yea, you could also make it a dual-passive build if you want, as Jaaz suggested. The build looks pretty good, either way, so hope it continues to work well for you.

    If you ever pick up Eye Beam to complete the slot triumverate (Head-Chest-Hand) you may have energy issues. As long as you stay to only 2 slots you will be okay.
