I have over 100 characters, I can't keep track of them all by name alone. Let us display our biography on the character select screen to make it easier to know who's who.

I have to admit this made me curious at what your characters look like. I'd assume that through appearance alone as well as name you could figure out who they were?

I'm also curious. Distinctive costumes, plus varying names, should be enough to tell each character apart. Even Old Man Bobb, who has multiple versions of his Bobb character, is able to tell his characters apart. I'm completely stumped, and genuinely curious, as to how you wouldn't be able to differentiate your characters. I currently have 138 characters, and I can easily tell who's who just by the portraits alone.
For an example, I have tons of high tech looking guys, it's not always obvious what exactly I was trying to do within a specific character type. Or just the weapon they use. I don't know until I load the character in a lot of cases.
I have a power armor guy that uses energy, one that uses conventional arms, one that uses energy and force shields, stuff like that. Same with magic or cosmic characters.
I would say I can remember roughly half the characters I've made just by looking at them. It has been over a decade after all and they don't all have names like 'Shadow Guy'.
It sounds like this is something you need to manage for yourself.
One way to easily manage it, is to create a document which lists their name, appearance and info that you can access without logging on.
I have quite a few characters myself and I've never not been able to tell who they are based on names alone. Unless you are saying all your characters have identical proportions, identical costume use and are all named "High Tech Guy 1" or something like that, I'm not immediately seeing the need for an internal system when you can either make them more visually distinct, rename them and/or keep track of them using a Word Document or several.
Well, considering that the vast number of players can track their heroes easily enough without such a system, that dev resources are scarce, and that there are many other things that would be more useful to many more players for devs to work on (e.g. new content), I'd guess so. I keep track of everything I need to know about my heroes in an Excel spread sheet, which has the added bonus of letting me tally up all my resources on all my characters.
It sounds like this is something you need to manage for yourself.
Yeah, that's the point of this request.
Are you here just to shoot down ideas?
When I say "manage for yourself", I'm not referring to you making this request.
Not here to shoot down ideas, but practically speaking...this is something you as a player can self manage without needing an entire system added to the roster area.
As you've not provided visuals for the looks of your characters, I can't fully know what the issue is, so I have to assume all of your characters are not visually distinct from one another...and in CO, that's again something you could self manage, IF that was contributing to the issue.
I appreciate that its been a long while since you've seen your characters based on what you've said, so why not just go through each one, make a note in a Word/Pages doc and solve this problem once and for all?
That's my take on it.
Another player in this thread has way more characters than me at 138 and doesn't seem to share your view and makes a good point about the scarcity of resources for the Dev Team.
If CO was in a much better place, I wouldn't even mention that point. We did use to have a connected website for our characters to manage them in some ways offline but that got scrapped.
Again, not saying it is a terrible idea, just that it is a hurdle you can get over without a new feature being added into the game.
