So I recently picked this up and have been trying to come up with a build for it. I'm a bit confused on what debuff to use for it... Piercing, Toxic... Both? Any suggestions would be lovely!
You'll prob want a Toxic debuff for the device (since it deals Toxic dmg), but it's still classed as Ranged Tech, so stuff like Targeting Computer should still work w/ it. The build given near the end of this older thread is a pretty good example for building around it:

I would suggest going int pss for endgame stuff, I have the rifle as well, just haven't gotten around to a retcon for it yet. This is basically a work in progress template I'm planning on using when I do. Wisp for the toxic damage debuff, And I threw frag grenade in their just for kicks as an extra DoT since it'll be boosted by both Targeting Computer and the Ascii mod even though it does physical damage. You can easily find something else to take instead.
Another idea you could do is replace Epidemic with a munitions AoE and put the Armor Piercing adv on Frag, just bear in mind that means your AoE won't proc Mephitic. On the flip side, Epidemic won't be boosted by Targeting computer, so I have to decide which route would be best. See the Additional Notes section in the linked build for further info
