Need ideas for melee style build inspired by Alex Mercer/Carnage

I'm back again and hit a wall in a hard place...

I've decided to mess with the predator AT and I like it so far. But what I'm really looking for is a build based off of the sword hand that Alex Mercer and James Heller used in the Prototype games or Carnage's melee attacks. So far, I'm thinking bestial powers might fit the bill for this one.

So far, my mind is drawing blanks on what to do with freeform. Then again, I was up all night.

EDIT: Melee weapons is also a viable option

There's plenty of other options if you're also open to the weapon-based sets, but here's an example of a Bestial clawing build:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Melee Damage)
    v3.44:37

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Strength (Primary)
    Level 10: Endurance (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Devastator (Str: 10, Con: 10, Rec: 10, End: 8)
    Level 6: Relentless (Str: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 9: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
Level 12: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 15: Bodybuilder (Str: 5, End: 5)
Level 18: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)
Level 21: Physical Conditioning (Str: 5, Con: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Bestial Fury
Level 1: Shred (Rank 2, Penetrating Strikes)
Level 6: Aspect of the Bestial
    Level 8: Pestilence (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 11: Frenzy (Rank 2, Fear Sense)
    Level 14: Supernatural Power
    Level 17: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 20: Massacre (Rank 2, Bloody Mess)
    Level 23: Eviscerate (Messy)
Level 26: Endorphin Rush (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 29: Pounce (Nailed to the Ground)
    Level 32: Antagonize (Rank 2)
    Level 35:
    Level 38:
    Adv. Points: 28/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Strength: Swole (2/3)
    Strength: Physical Peak (3/3)
    Strength: Brutality (2/2)
    Strength: Juggernaut (1/3)
    Strength: Overpower (2/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: Upper Hand (2/3)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Mastery: Strength Mastery (1/1)

For single-target dps, it puts up Bleeds and Shredded w/ Shred, while Massacre can be your main attack, and taps of Eviscerate can refresh both debuffs. Frenzy can be your main AoE here, though Shred also has a cleaving component. Gears mostly for Str, w/ some Con and End/Rec.

  • I need to try this build and see what I can do with it. Thanks, Flowcyto

Still in the post's theme, does CO has any powers that resemble Alex's tentacles and tentacle burst (his "ultimate")? Fractal Aegis looks a bit like it, could also use chains, but both are not quite similar.

If you mean just a big 'explosion' of tentacles/tendrils radiating out from you, then I guess nothing is a close match in CO. Fractal could work, I guess, though it's more of a Tank ult. TK Maelstrom has a nice anim for it, though obv you're flinging out TK objects instead. UR could also work well for animation, but it obv doesn't shoot out any objects from you.

How does pestilence compare to some of the other forms, like unstoppable, for overall dps. Tooltip reads (for rank 1) +24% damage from pestilence, +60% from unstoppable. But of course, pest has a dot. Seems to have some penetration benefits, too ?

Pestilence's DoT and -resist makes it fine for SN dps builds, but ofc a more generic dps passive is also good for Bestial (and offers different side benefits), so it's kinda just up to you.
