Help with a ranged acid build

benoitseanbenoitsean Posts: 322 Arc User
I'm trying to come up with a concept for an acid type character. I want the character to be entirely made out of acid. I need to be able to hit enemies and they just melt.

Here's what I came up with.....

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Ranged Damage)
v3.44:37

Super Stats
Level 6: Dexterity (Primary)
Level 10: Constitution (Secondary)
Level 15: Recovery (Secondary)

Talents
Level 1: Absolute Zero (Dex: 12, Rec: 12)
Level 6: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 9: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 12: Accurate (Dex: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
Level 18: Survival Training (Dex: 3, Con: 3, Pre: 3, Rec: 2, End: 2)
Level 21: Tireless (Rec: 8)

Powers
Level 1: Infernal Bolts
Level 1: Life Essence (Rank 2, Infernal Bond)
Level 6: Supernatural Power
Level 8: Pestilence (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 11: Epidemic (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 14: Chilled Form
Level 17: Quicksand (Rank 2, Rank 3, Accelerated Metabolism)
Level 20: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 23: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 26: Ebon Void (Rank 2, Voracious Darkness)
Level 29: Masterful Dodge
Level 32: Lock N Load (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 35: Bountiful Chi Resurgence (Resurgent Reiki)
Level 38: Rebirth
Adv. Points: 36/36

Travel Powers
Level 6: Bubble Flight (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 35: Corrosive Jump

Specializations
Dexterity: Gear Utilization (1/3)
Dexterity: Brush It Off (2/2)
Dexterity: Power Swell (2/2)
Dexterity: Deadly Aim (3/3)
Dexterity: Expose Weakness (2/2)
Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
Guardian: Locus (2/2)
Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
Guardian: Find the Mark (3/3)
Protector: Fortified Gear (3/3)
Protector: Unrelenting (2/2)
Protector: Bulwark (2/2)
Protector: Defensive Expertise (3/3)
Mastery: Protector Mastery (1/1)

Devices

Pestilence, Epidemic, and Quicksand are a must. Anything else can be changed. Thank you in advance.

It's not bad. But I'm not sure why you're using both Quicksand and Epidemic. It seems a bit redundant, as spamming epidemic is all the AoE you'll ever need. Also, there's something to be said for using Will-of-the-Wisp as a debuff on toxic builds. For added goodness Will-of-the-Wisp + Mephitic (Energy Unlock) is a very reliable energy source. For me quicksand is fighting against the build. As none of your other powers buffs it, and the energy unlock doesn't work with it.

If you are dead set on mixing damage types here, I'd look at the Night Warrior passive possibly with Molecular Self Assembly as the EU. Night Warrior buffs all damage types, grants faster power charge speed, and allows you to bypass 10% of a target's resistance. Molecular Self Assembly + Conviction would grant reliable energy.

But honestly, for a toxic themed range dps, I would go all in with Infernal.. and drop quicksand.

Well, I prob wouldn't bother w/ Accel Metab advs, Quicksand won't be boosted by Pestilence, and yea Quicksand is a bit redundant w/ Epidemic anyways. Also, you lack a good single-target attack here (LE's dmg adv is pretty low for dps, and you'd use it more for the healing here, if keeping it). If you insist on keeping both Quicksand and Epidemic, though, I guess you could use Quicksand for the slow pull-in, though it's not really needed in most cases. Also, I prob wouldn't have 2 ADs, now that they share the same cd on use, and I'd prob get a different self-res than Rebirth. If you want better dmg, then Protector spec is also not really ideal, and I would get The Best Defense (instead of prob Locus) in Guardian. Having something like the Wisp for a Toxic debuff can also be nice.

    Here's an edit to it:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Ranged Damage)
    v3.44:37

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Ego (Primary)
    Level 10: Endurance (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Scourge (Con: 10, Ego: 10, Rec: 10, End: 8)
Level 6: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
    Level 9: Worldly (Ego: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 12: Daredevil (Ego: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 18: Ascetic (Con: 5, Ego: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Infernal Bolts
Level 1: Life Essence (Rank 2, Infernal Bond)
    Level 6: Supernatural Power
    Level 8: Pestilence (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Epidemic (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 14: Chilled Form
    Level 17: Will-o'-the-Wisp (Ghost Fire)
    Level 20: Defile (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 23: Resurgence (Rank 2)
    Level 26: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 29: Toxic Nanites (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 32: Quicksand (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 35: Ebon Void (Rank 2)
    Level 38: Fiery Embrace
    Adv. Points: 36/36

    Travel Powers
Level 6: Bubble Flight (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Corrosive Jump

    Specializations
    Ego: Force of Will (2/2)
    Ego: Insight (3/3)
    Ego: Follow Through (3/3)
    Ego: Sixth Sense (2/3)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (3/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (2/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
    Mastery: Ego Mastery (1/1)

It's more or less like a standard Infernal SN build (but w/ Quicksand added)- and that's not really a bad thing. Defile can be your main single-target attack, while Epidemic is your main AoE, and the Wisp can help debuff. Toxic Nanites can also add some extra dmg. Gears mostly for Ego, w/ some End + Rec (for Supernatural Power) and Con.

Also, if you want an easier time w/ energy when using Defile, you could add Infernal Blast into the build and incorporate it into the single-target rotation.
