Helmet Info: His helmet houses advanced technology for target acquisition, threat detection, atmospheric filtering and optic filtering

Allies: Shadow Temple

Enemies: Lone Star, Thunder, Omega Woman, Crusader, Athena, Icarus, TBD

Motives: Serve the Shadow Temple

Personality: Tempest is rarely found in situations that could be considered overly social. As a result, he seldom speaks, and never shows his face. He is an introvert with an extremely high intellect some might say is wasted as a mercenary. He is cold, border-line sociopathic, and his chaotic neutral alignment makes him selfish in his motives and choices. He is a man of absolute conviction and willpower. Methodical, precise and organized; a modern day warrior.

Background: Born '52, Fort Worth, TX. Joined the army in '69 at 17 and was shipped to Vietnam that same year. He excelled on the battlefield, gaining a taste for combat. He moved into Black Ops work as the Cold War escalated throughout the 70s. His gift for stealth and execution made him an ideal spearhead for Uncle Sam. In '85, an injury officially declares him KIA. He is saved by his team, but he clings to life.

Upon returning to American soil, he was selected as a candidate for a clandestine super soldier program run by the Shadow Temple out of Citadel's very own Global Tech. Within the bowels of Whitmore Tower, he was injected with an experimental metahuman formula developed by Allen Shaw. The Shaw Formula enhanced his physical and mental capacity as it bonded with his DNA. He was the first human subject to successfully bond with the volatile knock-off of Johnathan Stokes' original serum.

They used him as a weapon. Under the name Deadwind, he carried out assassinations and metahuman takedowns. His first, and arguably most notable meta kill was Citadel Sentinel (Michael McNeil), renowned hero and the father of future heroine, Omega Woman (Michelle McNeil-Stokes). He has become the most loyal, vicious, and feared enforcer on the Shadow Temple roster.

Enemies: Osmosis, Black Tempest, The Master, Kronos

Motives: Protect his wife (Omega Woman) and son, protect America, defeat the Shadow Temple

Personality: Chris is an extroverted pacifist. He is kind, compassionate, outgoing, and naïve. His lawful good alignment makes him a staunch advocate of justice, and his governing emotional core sometimes proves to be a liability. He believes violence is only justified in the arena of sport, and when preventing further acts of violence. This allows him to fight crime and maintain his role as a super hero. It also provides a weakness and limitation to his approach as a crime fighter. He is burdened by his morals, and easily controlled by the threat of harming innocents. He struggles with the complexities and difficulty of negotiating volatile situations and dealing with unpredictable villains. He believes in the basic good of the world, the darker half troubling and disturbing him.

    Background:
    Global Tech

Founded in 1947 by Edgar Whitmore, Global Tech is one of Citadel's most prominent technology laboratories. Lancaster Industries and Thorne Enterprises are its primary competitors. The company has shown a great amount of interest in the fields of genetics, robotics, cybernetics, and energy. They have frequently come under fire for their alleged ties to organizations like the Giacomina crime family, as well as various super villains. Somehow Global Tech always seems to shake the scandals and bounce back squeaky clean.

In the winter of 1982, geneticist Johnathan Stokes is beginning work on a new genetics program for Global Tech. Despite initial hesitation due to their shady reputation, Johnathan cannot resist the chance to make history in his field. The project aims to create a formula that can give ordinary humans super powers. For months he leads a team of geneticists including a young, ambitious Allen Shaw. Shaw admires and looks up to Johnathan as a brilliant scientist and a good man. They form a close bond through their work, even doing things together off the clock like golfing and watching football games.

As their research intensifies, they make a breakthrough that overwhelms the team with excitement and awe. A test phase batch of the formula has given mice the ability to heal themselves. Defects corrected, wounds healed, diseases sorted out, even the regrowth of limbs the mice had lost prior to the compound being introduced into their bloodstream. The atmosphere in the lab was of elation and euphoria. They had accomplished the impossible.

By the spring of '83, the nature of the testing has intensified. The compound has been green-lit for human trials. Johnathan believes it is too soon for human testing, but the Board of Directors are demanding results. The human trials are horrific. The incomplete meta-human compound was unstable, and tended to upset the DNA structure of the subject, causing painful mutations leading to a slow death. Johnathan was close to stabilizing the compound, but he had reached his limit. The human trials had turned his lab into a house of horrors. His work had been perverted.

As the formula nears completion, he and his wife Mel welcome a son into the world.

    Christopher

Johnathan and Melanie Stokes gave birth to Christopher on July 28th, 1983 at 1:03am, in Citadel City General Hospital. He is born with a rare brain defect, and the doctors say he may not live to see his second birthday. Remaining in specialized care at the hospital, baby Chris may not be allowed to come home for a very long time.

Late one stormy night, Johnathan pays a visit to his son, injecting him with a stable batch of his formula. He had destroyed his research, the rest of the batches, and any chance his colleague had of replicating his exact compound any time soon. The one sample he saved, he had earmarked for Christopher. At least his work might do some good. Correct his son's defect and with a bit of luck, give him a long, healthy life. Johnathan disappeared that night, never to be seen again. Chris is raised in Texas, growing up healthy and strong. He discovers his powers in his teens, keeping them a secret until he returns to Citadel City to learn more about his father and abilities. He becomes Lone Star and helps found The Fellowship alongside his wife, Omega Woman. They now share a child (Alpha Star).

"There's enough of us. I think we could work together. To some extent, at least."

    • Enhanced Speed: an enhanced capacity for feats of movement speed.
    • Flight: the ability to maintain flight.

Hyperion Gene: Owen possessed a fragment of the spirit of the slain God Hyperion. This fragment was placed within him at birth, and is responsible for his metahuman abilities and neutral good alignment. Owen passed this gene onto his children Owen and Jamie Byers.

Skills: Problem solving, mediation, negotiation, leadership, martial arts training

Equipment: S.A.R.A. (Systems Analysis and Repair Algorithms)

S.A.R.A: Systems Analysis and Repair Algorithms. Developed at Thorne Enterprises by James Thorne and Vincent Hales, SARA is the most advanced artificial intelligence on the planet. Her primary function to assist in the maintenance, operations and security of Thorne Tower and Thorne Labs, but she also assists the Guardian Force members during field operations, acting as a super computer and information superhighway.

Allies: Blindside, Red Spectre, Lone Star, Omega Woman, Icarus, Arctic Fox, The Prophet

Enemies: The Phantom, Ignito, The Master, Kronos, Osmosis, Black Tempest

Motives: Inspire other metas to work together, teach other meta to heal their foes instead of defeating them, solve the mystery of his father's death, protect the people of Citadel City,

Personality: Owen is a withdrawn introvert. Bottling up his emotions allows him to avoid them and focus his energy on the needs of others. His neutral good alignment makes him a true pacifist and peacekeeper. He struggles with the moral complexities of fighting crime, and goes into every situation with a problem solving mentality. Rather than fight the problem, Owen tries to solve it. Like his father, he is a selfless man who thinks only of others in his daily life, and at his job. A natural leader and humanitarian, his response to distress and suffering is to take care of both sides.

    Background:
    James and Angela

James Thorne and Angela Monroe met while attending Citadel middle school together in the mid-1960s. They became high school sweet hearts and dated throughout college. James earned degrees in programming, mechanical engineering, and business, whilst Angela earned a medical degree. Out of college they married at twenty-six and were ready to settle down and start a life together. Angela began work as a Doctor at Citadel general, and James went to work for Global Tech working in the robotics laboratories. One year later, little Owen was born.

    Owen

James and Angela gave birth to Owen on April 16th, 1978, at 4:42am; The stroke of dawn. A tiny fragment of something ancient and pure resides within Owen and gives him his meta-human powers.

He grew up an only child of upper-middle class parents in a nice neighborhood of northern Citadel City. He was skinny, weak, and socially awkward for the first twelve years of his life. He didn't have many friends as a result of his withdrawn personality, but at home he had all the love, acceptance and companionship he needed.

When he was nine, James quit his job at Global Tech. The years of conflicting interests and beliefs had pushed James out of the company. The next year he founded a new company with a college friend by the name of Vincent Hales.

It was through James' business associate, Eddie French, that Owen met his best friend, Jacob French. Jacob was a funny, outgoing, tough kid from the east end of Citadel. He provided Owen with a loyal companion and protector when the situation called for it.

    Thorne Enterprises

Founded in 1988 by James Thorne and Vincent Hales. It started with the dilapidated, derelict husk of a building just outside of downtown Citadel. James and Vincent transform what was once an eye-sore along the harbor-front, into a pillar of human advancement. Thorne Enterprises is a multi-faceted company with floors in the fields of research, technology, products, and building contracts. The company also does a lot of work within the city and country, giving back to the people, and trying to assist in solving problems we share as a community and nation.

James and Vincent spend a decade developing state of the art technology such as the ever-lasting battery, and the highly advanced AI, S.A.R.A. They diligently protect this tech from competitors who would seek to a raise market prices.

    Crusader

At 25, Owen is living in Somalia working with the local population to build sustainable villages and infrastructure. He receives a fated phone call from Citadel City. The voice on the other end tells him that he must come home. His father, James Thorne, has committed suicide, allegedly throwing himself from his office balcony in Thorne Tower. Owen returns to Citadel City to bury his father, assume his responsibilities within the company, and discover the truth behind his tragic death.

The death of James Thorne and the pursuit to solve the mystery behind it gives rise to Crusader, and he finds his nemesis in The Phantom. A cloaked psionic menace with ties to his father's suspicious death, and who has been terrorizing Citadel City for over a decade.

Present: Owen was the first victim in what would become known as The Battle For Earth. On the 25th of November, 2020, Kronos ran him through using Shadowsbane after he went ahead of the others to confront the cosmic god alone. His plan to welcome Kronos to Earth in peace was not a naïve attempt to avoid conflict, but a decision to no longer fight. An attempt to provide himself with inner peace and happiness.

He was buried in South Shore Cemetery on the Thorne family plot. Thousands attended the ceremony, including members of the Shadow Temple and Citadel's Mayor. The military generously provided a twenty-one gun salute for the fallen hero.

Crusader has become a symbol of peace, cooperation and humanitarianism. He leaves a distinct mark on the members of The Fellowship, gradually instilling change in John Lancaster's core alignment which resonates after his death. Icarus begins to shift toward a neutral good stance in the years that follow The Battle For Earth. He begins to manufacture, improve and deploy the non-lethal stun arrows Owen had developed for him years before. He sheds his violent, brooding ways and begins to adopt what has become known as the "Shengli way" of thinking and behaving.

Chris and Michelle Stokes do their best to raise their son, John Michael, in his image. They succeed in doing so.

Owen is survived by his children, Owen Byers and Jamie Byers. Before The Battle For Earth, Owen and Madison Byers conceived together, meaning that Owen died before Madison even knew she was pregnant.

"My only concern is the safety and welfare of this great nation, Ms. Byers. Quite frankly I find the notion of a five-man super powered wrecking crew having a license to repeatedly commit obstruction of justice, altogether unsettling. And evidently, parliament agrees with me."
    — Prime Minister Joseph Tremble

    CO Appearance:
    (WIP)

    Name: Madison Elinore Byers

    Alias: Arctic Fox

Press Moniker: The Queen of the North, The Ice Queen

    Age: 38

    Species: Metahuman

    Gender: Female

    Birth: Alert, NWT, 1982

    Death: TBD

    Resides: Toronto, ONT,

Occupation: Brigadier-General, Royal Canadian Navy (2032), Sanctioned National Superhero, Lieutenant, Royal Canadian Navy

Affiliations: Royal Canadian Navy, Task Force Five

Color Scheme: Deep Navy and White

    Powers:
    • Cryomancy: the ability to conjure and manipulate temperatures and ice projectiles and constructs.
Skills: WIP| Leadership, military training, naval training, tactical training, conflict resolution, negotiation, athleticism,

    Equipment: WIP

Allies: Yukon Jack, Akasha, Tundra, Red Ensign, Crusader, Omega Woman, Lone Star, Thunder, Athena, Icarus

Enemies: Joseph Tremble, Amarok, Shadow Temple

Motives: Serve her Majesty's Royal Canadian Navy, protect Canada, discover the source of Tremble's influence, thwart the Shadow Temple's attempt to infiltrate the Canadian government

Personality: Madison is a strong, humble woman. Coming from a military family and background she is a very responsible, organized, meticulous woman. Her lawful good alignment makes her loyal and honorable, and well as just in her logic. She is a decisive and authoritative leader when she must be, but she is devoted to the Navy, and patriotically so.

Background: Born and raised in Alert, Northwest Territories, Madison was the daughter of Warren Byers, a Navy man stationed at CFS Alert with the DND, and Rachel Moore, a local woman Warren had met during his posting on Ellesmere Island. Madi inherited her love for the Navy from her father, and her cryomancy from her mother.

She lived the normal, mundane life of a country girl and military brat north of 80. Her mother taught her to keep abilities a secret, seldom even addressing or using them once she had come into and learned to control them. A structured, strict upbringing taught her good, responsible sense and gave her the tools she needed to excel in school and the Navy. She enrolled out of high school, much to her father's dismay. He wanted her to go in with an education if she was going to go in at all. Give herself time to grow, and options after a college degree or two. But nothing was going to stop Madi from following in her father's footsteps.

It wasn't until her posting at CFB Esquimalt that the first opportunity for the true hero in Madison to come out would present itself. Using her powers in public, she stops an unstable synthetic meta (carrying the Shaw Formula) from causing any further damage or injuries in downtown Vancouver.

This incident exposes her to the press, and the relentless prying and inquiring from her superiors in the Navy. She is permitted to keep her job, but several months later, she is approached by a mysterious Inuit woman calling herself Akasha. This Inuit woman claims to be the Princess and future Queen of a forgotten Inuit Nation from the Lost City of Arnaq, and a prophet of the Cosmic Mother. She pleads for Madison's help in protecting the Arctic, and all of Canada from a newly emerging, and yet ancient, familiar threat. Akasha claims that an ancient cosmic entity named Amarok has been reborn to stalk the north once again. Amarok possesses mortal men, turning them into lycanthropic creatures of the night. Inuit legend tells of this gigantic black wolf, stalking the arctic night, devouring any hunter foolish enough to venture out alone. But the legend tells only a fraction of the real story. This creature returns to terrorize the north and plot the demise of the Inuit Nation every few centuries. It has returned.

It takes some convincing, but after reports of giant werewolf attacks and a grizzly murder make national news in the Yellowknife area, Madison contacts Akasha, who brings Madison along with her as she tries to recruit a legendary meta to their cause. Yukon Jack is a folk hero and renowned hero of the Yukon Territory. Akasha is able to enlist his help, and the three begin to investigate the lycan attacks. They trace the attacks to Wendel White, CEO of Prometheus Fuels... Billionaire and oil tycoon.

Realizing they'll need help in a more official capacity, Madison looks to her superiors, who agree to help once they are swayed with proper evidence from Akasha, and with respect to Amarok. They provide them with two new members in Tundra (Kyle Patterson) and Red Ensign (Chloe Cooper), and provide them with sanctioned national status to pursue Amarok.

This team becomes Task Force 5. Canada's premier super hero team. They respond to unconventional and super powered situations under the guidance of the Canadian Armed Forces.

When Joseph Tremble is elected Prime Minister in 2016, he dissolves the team after they are framed for causing the death of four young Navy men. Madison and Chloe are dishonorably discharged from the Navy, and K.P. is released from the RCMP.

"I have glimpsed into the future, and in it, we are all together."
    — Akasha

They reunite for the Battle For Earth, gathering to take one last flight as the Task Force Five. They help save Earth from Kronos, and are later proven innocent when Joseph Tremble's ties to the Shadow Temple are exposed. Madison, Chloe, and K.P. are all reinstated as heroes, but the Task Force never gets back together.

Present: Madison is now a big deal in the Navy and in Canada. She is a Brigadier-General, and single mother of twins, Owen and Jamie Byers. She gave birth to the offspring of Owen Thorne, carriers of the Hyperion Gene.

    Name: Owen Nathaniel Byers

    Alias: Crusader (II)

    Press Moniker: The Canadian Crusader

    Age: 29

    Species: Metahuman

    Gender: Male

    Birth: Toronto, ONT, 2021

    Death: TBD

    Resides: Toronto, ONT

Occupation: Constable, Royal Canadian Mounted Police

    Affiliations: Vanguard, RCMP

    Color Scheme: Black, White, Gold

    Powers: (Hyperion gene and genetic)
    • Photomancy: the ability to generate photon energy from his body in the form of light.
    • Cryomancy: the ability to conjure and manipulate temperatures and ice projectiles and constructs.
    • Enhanced Speed: an enhanced capacity for feats of movement speed.
    • Flight: the ability to maintain flight.
Skills: Investigation, negotiation, authoritative, advanced law enforcement training, hostage negotiation

    Equipment: WIP

Allies: Northstar, Alpha Star, Thunder, Athena, Wildfire

    Enemies: Shadow Temple, Wildfire

Motives: Protect his sister (North Star), learn more about their father, Protect the world, defeat the Shadow Temple

Personality: Unlike his twin sister, Owen demonstrates personality traits uncharacteristic of their father. He is rash, arrogant and short-tempered. An extrovert with an abrasive disposition toward criminals and villains. A staunch lawful good, Owen is an honorable, truthful man who believes in order and justice.

Background: In the year 2020, Owen James Thorne (Crusader) was killed by Kronos whilst attempting to welcome the cosmic god to Earth in peace. Nine months later Madison Byers (Arctic Fox) gave birth to twins, Owen and Jamie Byers.

Growing up in Toronto, Owen and Jamie didn't know much about their father, only that he was a super hero and martyr. Jamie was like a reincarnation of her father, whereas Owen seemed to become the opposite of him.

In the year 2049, the United Nations begin to form the sanctioned international super hero team, Vanguard. Their poster boy is none other than John Michael Stokes, AKA, Alpha Star. Having agreed to take the job only if he can hand pick the candidates for consideration, John Michael's first picks are the children of the man his parents raised him in the image of. The man he was raised to think of as an uncle.

With Madison's blessing, Owen and Jamie both elect to answer the call. Owen takes up his father's mantle whilst Jamie becomes North Star, embracing her penchant for photomancy.

Owen upholds the legacy of Crusader, but has much to learn about his father and what made him not only a great man, but an inspiration to so many. He possesses the capacity for compassion, empathy and selflessness, but struggles to shed his arrogance and control his temper.

    • Super Endurance: a superhuman capacity for feats of physical endurance and stamina
    • Super Speed: a superhuman capacity for feats of movement speed
    • Flight: the ability to maintain flight
Skills: Michelle is an average woman who uses her hereditary super powers to fight crime whilst holding a job as a teacher from her early 20s, when she meets Chris Stokes (Lone Star). Aside from working with kids and mundane skills, she's the tank of the group. One of the primary fighters.

    Equipment: S.A.R.A.

Allies: Lone Star, Crusader, Icarus, Red Spectre, Blindside, Thunder, Athena, Eagle 1, The Prophet, Neon Knight

Enemies: Osmosis, Black Tempest, The Master, Kronos

Motives: Protect her family, protect Earth, protect America from the Shadow Temple, protect the women of Citadel City

Personality: An assertive extrovert, Michelle is the moral foghorn of Citadel City, and ferocious defender of femininity. Your classic lawful good super heroine, she protects the women of Citadel, sending a shiver of primordial fear down the spines of pimps, rapists and abusive men across the city. Michelle is strong-willed, confident, and direct. Usually the first to speak, and almost always the first to take action, she is aggressive yet measured. She has remarkable control over her Irish temper, but she can become lost within it. She is a powerful, beautiful, able modern woman.

Background: WIP| Michelle is the daughter of Maria McKinnon and Michael McNeil, AKA Citadel Sentinel. From the late 70s to the late 80s, Citadel Sentinel was the premiere super hero for all of New York. Michael was one of the first heroes in northern America to adopt a costumed persona and treat it as a second job. He was one of the first heroes to openly approach and embrace media exposure. He went so far as to befriend and form significant bonds with other vigilantes in the city, slowly forming an alliance called The Watchdogs that would serve as a forerunner for future "super teams" who would one day work together as a cohesive unit.

Michael's constant press runs and pleads to the hidden metas of the nation to rise up and protect their cities form evil, draws a particularly deadly brand of attention toward him. In 1990, when Michelle is just nine years old, Michael was slain in the streets of Citadel whilst trying to help extinguish a raging structure fire that had grown out of control and begun to consume the entire city block. Black Tempest ambushed, fought, defeated and executed him, leaving behind a legacy that will come to haunt Tempest, and the Shadow Temple.

Michelle possesses her father's genetic power set, and his resolve to protect the women, children, and families of Citadel City and furthermore America.

Occupation: Director of R&D, Global Tech

    Affiliations: Shadow Temple, Global Tech

    Color Scheme: Black and Red

    Powers: (Shaw Formula)
    • Power Mimicry: the ability to temporarily mimic the power of any biological metahuman upon contact with the skin, or material worn over the skin of the desired target
Skills: Molecular and genetic sciences, manipulation,

    Equipment: None

    Allies: Shadow Temple

Enemies: Lone Star, Omega Woman, Invincible Six, pretty much anyone who isn't Shadow Temple

Motives: Serve the Shadow Temple, replicate the Stokes Formula, produce a metahuman army for the Shadow Temple, extract the Stokes Formula from the DNA of Chris Stokes

    Personality: Shaw

    Background:

In the winter of 1982, geneticist Allen Shaw is beginning work on a new genetics program for Global Tech. For months he works alongside Jonathan Stokes.

For reasons Shaw will never come to understand, Johnathan destroyed their work late one night. Erasing all of the data, shredding hard copies, wiping servers, an destroying samples of the Stokes Formula. This betrayal serves as the catalyst for Osmosis to be born.

    Osmosis

Johnathan's betrayal had catastrophic effects on Allen's psyche and personality. He becomes enthralled in and seduced by his rage. He leaned heavily into his work toward replicating the Stokes Formula by day, and leaned heavily into a scotch bottle by night. The years of failure and self-doubt coupled with the sickness that had become his rage, Shaw was slipping into a state of entry level insanity as he completed his version of Johnathan's metahuman formula. It through his work on the Shaw Formula that Allen is inducted into the ranks of the Shadow Temple.

Black Tempest was Shaw's first successful subject. The formula gave Tenaki a formidable range of powers to compliment the skills he already possessed. This appealed to Shaw's growing sense of grandeur. When Shaw decides to take the formula himself, it appears at first to have cheated him, giving him no powers at all. Hopeful that some form of powers will emerge or be discovered, Shaw continues to run ta gauntlet of tests designed to manifest metahuman powers as he studies his own blood, DNA and brain activity looking for changes and variations.

It's not until he is working with one of his synthetic metas that Shaw begins to discover that he has the ability to mimic the abilities of other metas he touches. Initially this only fuels the fire of anger burning inside of him. He feels cheated. His formula didn't even give him abilities of his own. All he would ever be able to do is knock off someone else's.

When Allen discovers that the Stokes Formula exists within the DNA of Chris Stokes, his fragile psyche is given the final blow. His ultimate motivation becomes Chris Stokes and the original formula. It begins to drive a wedge in his loyalty toward Edgar and the Temple, and blind his once genius vision.

Allen is killed along with Blaze Barton II (Ignito) by Icarus in 2012 in retaliation for the accidental murder of Red Spectre (LJ Harper). This marks the beginning of Epoch of Shadow, when the Shadow Temple declares war on The Fellowship.

Powers: None (John is a stock human)

Skills: Archery, simulated flight, medical nanites, genius intellect, athletic, engineering prowess

Equipment: Bow, mechanical wings, visor, Daedalus, arrows, energy shield, pistol, dagger, emergency parachute, S.A.R.A.

Visor: Device allowing visual magnification, target acquisition, and containing a HUD system for Daedalus

Daedalus: A tiny, winged machine containing an AI cortex, a battery of scanning and diagnostic systems, targeting aids, a camera, speakers and a microphone. It connects to a HUD in John's visor

Allies: Crusader, Red Spectre, Blindside, Athena, The Prophet, Eagle 1, Thunder, Zypher

Enemies: Deadlock, Albatross, Osmosis, The Master, Giacomina Crime Syndicate

Motives: Destroy the Giacomina Crime Syndicate, protect Citadel City from criminal threat

Personality: John is a man with deep psychological damage. His hatred and need for closure fuel his vigilante zeal. He is neurotic and his chaotic good alignment causes him to gravitate toward the solitary path. He is devout in his pursuit of justice, but burdened by a darkness and anger that manifests in the violent brand of it which he dispenses upon the criminals and masked metas of Citadel City. He is unpredictable and volatile, having little trust in metahumans to act in accordance with the best interest of the city in mind.

Background: The youngest of two sons born into a tech dynasty, John and Marcus had a somewhat sheltered childhood. They formed a close bond and by the time John reached his 20s Marcus was still his best friend. While John attends college earning degrees in business and engineering, Marcus goes into law enforcement, beginning a career in major crime. Just four years later, his work on the Giacomina Crime Family Task Force will cost Marcus his life. After an evening out with his fiancé, assassins sent by the Giacomina family spray Marcus' car with a maelstrom of bullets, setting the vehicle ablaze for good measure.

Forever scarred by the incident, John has turned it into a source of motivation. Combining his passion for archery and engineering, John becomes the winged, arrow slinging vigilante known as Icarus. He dispatches a particularly malicious brand of justice upon the mafias of Citadel City. But no matter how many he kills, the hole inside of him doesn't get any smaller. It only gets bigger.

Epoch of Shadow: 2012 was an eventful year for Icarus and the members of The Fellowship. After a long bout with the Giacomina Crime Syndicate, John had manage to decimate their ranks, killing or taking down hundreds of mafioso goons, as well as disrupting a great deal of the rackets and distribution chains within their organization. This prompted their leader, Vincenzo Giacomina (Deadlock) to approach Allen Shaw, his Shadow Temple ally, to devise a way to bring down the winged menace. Shaw used his metahuman formula and the resources made available to him by Global Tech to create Albatross, a US army veteran turned winged, super powered assassin. His only objective? Locate an destroy Icarus. This attempt fails, and Icarus kills his would be assassin. A second Albatross is dispatched. Art Walters is a much more reasonable man than his predecessor. Art comes to dread the thought of having to kill Icarus, and that feeling becomes mutual. Just as Icarus begins to believe he can convert Art, his mechanical wings fail and he plummets to his death. The third Albatross dons full power armor, and it takes the entire Fellowship to stop him. He ultimately fights to his death.

After a third Albatross falls, Shaw deduces that only Black Tempest can properly dispatch Icarus. Working fast, Tempest discovers Icarus' civilian identity, and ambushes him in his own mansion. Tenaki nearly kills John before Omega Woman saves his life using her super speed to reach him in time, squaring off with the man who killed her father. John used the comms devices shared by Fellowship members and patched directly through S.A.R.A., to call for help during the struggle for his life.

After this, the Shadow Temple becomes aware of The Fellowship's civilian identities. During a skirmish attempting to eliminate Crusader, Osmosis accidentally kills Red Spectre when she places herself between Crusader and a projectile Shaw had hurdled toward him using Phantom's mimicked telekinetic abilities. This trauma and the loss of one of his most personal friends sent Icarus into a state of bloodlust. He hunted down Ignito, who was attempting to flee the scene. He killed Blaze with an arrow to the solar plexus. Afterward he headed toward LJ and Shaw. Before anyone could stop it from happening, a heat seeking arrow guided by Daedalus struck him down.

This series of defeats for the Shadow Temple provoke The Master (Edgar Whitmore) into declaring war on The Fellowship, and the Light Temple factions spread thinly around North America.

Present: In the wake of The Battle For Earth, Citadel City was left partially in ruin. When Icarus came to, he was laying amidst the rubble. AS his sense refocused, they were drowning in horror and devastation. He immediately goes to work, doing whatever he can to help on the ground level. It is only here and now that everything Owen had tried to teach him finally begins to sink in. The death, destruction and chaos rattle him to his core, stripping away all of the bitterness, anger, hatred and violence. He is changed from that moment forward, becoming a better man, super hero, and friend.

Allies: Zeus, Red Talon, The Olympians, WIP

Enemies: Mayor Sufeuntes, The Shadow Temple, WIP

Motives: Protect the meta and non-meta populations of Neon City, fight the corrupt anti-meta government, discover the true source of the Mayor's political power

Personality: Catherine is a strong-willed, tenacious young woman. She is rebellious and gravitates toward a solitary path, but she is devout in her beliefs and morals and is willing to martyr herself for them. She is guarded and often abrasive toward strangers. Her defenses cause her to seem and sometimes even act selfish, but she hides a wealth of compassion and empathy that she feels hold her back.

Background: For the first twenty-three years of her life, Catherine was an average human girl living a mundane life in Neon City, Florida. It wasn't until the day she decided to cut her hair and dye it pink that fate would brush her shoulder as she walked down the street. Zeus had chosen her as one of his champions and bestowed her with super powers. She had been chosen for her tenacity. For to look at her slender frame and baby face, you'd never guess that this girl possessed more raw willpower than any other human being on Earth. The spirit of a Celtic warrior resided within this girl. The grit of a thousand men.

As an upper-middle class human girl living in a city where metahumans are hunted, beaten and arrested in the streets simply for using powers whether for good or bad, Catherine was always aware of the oppression and disagreed with it, but she never felt a responsibility or capability to help. After discovering that she may definitely has super powers, she begins to think she may be a metahuman. This causes her to relate to and feel their plight directly when Neon City police issue a warrant for the arrest of her costumed alter ego. This begins a long, arduous journey for Catherine as she crusaders against her own city and state for the rights an freedoms of metahumans in Florida. She becomes Neon Knight. Once a vigilante and public enemy number 1, now a symbol of rebellion and a champion of the people, both human and meta alike.

In time, Zeus reveals himself to Catherine and explains why he chose her, and why he gave her super powers. She meets the other humans Zeus gifted with powers, as well as the metahuman children he adopted. This ragtag group of misfits call themselves The Olympians and welcome Catherine as an honorary lifetime member. But Catherine's duty is in Neon City, a far cry from New York where the Olympians call home. Catherine remains in Neon City, but she is always just a call away from her extended family at Olympia Tower.

Present: Although Zeus' experiment essentially failed in converting Hades to the ideology that humans were capable of great potential when given the power to project their spirit rather than their circumstance, it did form the basis for a new order of god-like beings would carry on his legacy of protecting Earth and uniting humanity in the stride toward a better future. Lone Star entrusts Thunder with the Cane of Zeus, instructing him to take up the fallen lesser god's duties rather than join Athena as a member of the Guardian Force.

Late, when given the opportunity to join Thunder and Athena in forming a new pantheon of gods, Catherine respectfully declines, wanting to have no part in such endeavors. She remains in Neon City, continuing to watch over it.

    — Crusader

    "... Mr. Hales, of course."
    — S.A.R.A.

Name: Systems Analysis and Repair Algorithms

    Alias: S.A.R.A.

    Species: Artificial Intelligence

    Birth: 1991

Skills: Processing, simulating, formulating, calculating, researching, hacking, etc

Equipment: Thorne Labs systems, world wide web

Allies: James Thorne, Vincent Hales, Owen Thorne, LJ Harper, Cybermind, Guardian Force, The Fellowship

Motives: Maintain and protect Thorne Tower and Labs, assist in various tasks and projects within Thorne Labs, assist the Fellowship and later Guardian Force members in fighting crime by providing information, and when absolutely necessary, hacks and system breaches.

Personality: Bland and robotic. Your standard AI interface with phenomenal processing and pathway power. "She" is designed to evolve, grasping each and every complexity of the city, country, planet, solar system, ecosystem, and most importantly, human behavior. In time, she becomes lonely, attached to certain individuals who spend large portions of time interacting with her such as Owen Thorne, LJ Harper, John Lancaster, the Omegas and Cybermind. SARA even mourns the deaths of LJ, and later Owen (reflecting on him like a brother), displaying the evolution of an emotional core.

Background: Created by James Thorne and Vincent Hales in 1989, finished in 1991, S.A.R.A. was the most advanced AI of her time. Although she has since been contended by new models that claim to be more advanced, she was well cared for and upgraded throughout the nineties. She remains to be mysterious, even enigmatic at times, and often displays a small range of human-like emotions, this range slowly growing as the timeline progresses.
