Modern viable Might/Mental(TP) build?

ragadolfragadolf Posts: 95 Arc User
Hello Again,
Looking for a viable mix of Might & TP powersets. For a concept version of Martian Manhunter (Modern day, not Silver/Golden age Superman clone version) for fun and giggles. :)
Powers, Shapeshifting (Costume changes/Become devices) , Phasing (TeleportTravel power) Flight, Invisibility, (NW passive, also perfect for mixing powersets.) Otherwise a 'basic' might DPS build(?) To include at least beatdown/reckless, Demolish/below the belt, & Haymaker. Figure use TP powers for heals/debuffs to stay in theme?
I have a few thoughts, but would like your first impressions on which TP powers you would use? Also what stats/Form/EU would be best for energy, or just stick with Pulveriser & Enrage?

Thank you again, in advance, ~Rags~

Well, you could go for a more support-oriented debuff build w/ Sleep and MStorm to roll spec debuffs like Vuln, Wither, Sent Mastery, and/or Trapped- but this will ofc lower your own dps. TP stuff can be also okay to sample just for the base utility, though, like MLeech's Dependency heal, Mind Drain healing, or w/e CC powers you want to throw in. Then you could just make it more of a Might dps build w/ some TP flavor.

Whether the Might toggle/form_EU will work will just kinda depend on how heavy into Might vs. TP you want to lean, and/or if you have any sort of attack rotation in mind. I'd assume Enrage + Pulv is fine (thus prob Str and Rec SS'd), as long as you're knocking things frequently enough w/ Might stuff.

Huh, TBH I hadnt even thought about support-oriented stuff, I was thinking mostly a debuff or heal maybe? Thx, new thought direction.

I'm honestly more of a 'fun' and/or 'theme/flavor' guy over MinMaxing DPS, (although, I'm usually pleasantly surprised how well some of my theme builds end up doing at cosmics) ;) So CC is fine, My original thought WAS 'Might w/TPS flavor'

Where is 'Vulnerable' at? I have found Wither, Torment, Trapped, Concussion, but I'm blind and dont see Vulnerable. :open_mouth:

Vulnerability is in Pres PSS, just fyi.

Well, just to show a bit of a different approach, here's an example of a debuff-oriented version, while still having much of the Might dps backbone. A debuff-dps, if you will:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Melee Damage)
    v3.43:35

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Presence (Primary)
    Level 10: Strength (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Devastator (Str: 10, Con: 10, Rec: 10, End: 8)
    Level 6: Relentless (Str: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 9: Lasting Impression (Pre: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 12: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 15: Physical Conditioning (Str: 5, Con: 5)
Level 18: Impressive Physique (Str: 5, Pre: 5)
Level 21: Shrug It Off (Con: 5, Pre: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Psi Lash
Level 1: Beatdown (Blindside Blow, Reckless Endangerment)
    Level 6: Enrage
Level 8: Night Warrior (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Pulverizer
Level 14: Demolish (Below the Belt)
    Level 17: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Haymaker (Rank 2, Reckless Strikes)
Level 23: Shockwave (Rank 2, Power Shift)
    Level 26: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 29: Mental Storm (Rank 2)
Level 32: Ego Sleep (Plagued by Nightmares)
    Level 35: Retaliation (Rank 2)
    Level 38:
    Adv. Points: 30/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Presence: Repurpose (3/3)
    Presence: Dominion (2/2)
    Presence: Moment of Glory (2/3)
    Presence: Force of Will (1/2)
    Presence: Vulnerability (2/2)
    Sentinel: Torment (2/2)
    Sentinel: Sentinel Aura (3/3)
    Sentinel: Moment of Need (2/3)
    Sentinel: Wither (2/2)
    Sentinel: Genesis (1/2)
    Overseer: Administer (1/3)
    Overseer: Ruthless (2/2)
    Overseer: Impact (2/2)
    Overseer: Trapped (3/3)
    Overseer: Enhanced Gear (2/3)
    Mastery: Sentinel Mastery (1/1)

The last power slot can be w/e ya want.

AoE can be done w/ a mix of Shockwave, Beatdown's cleave, and MStorm's DoT. Your main single-target rotation is the usual for Haymaker (put up Demolish's debuff at the start, then alternate between 1x Beatdown and 3x charged Haymaker). In either case, MStorm and Ego Sleep can be tapped put up the spec-related debuffs quickly (and/or you can charge MStorm if you want to try a slightly longer AoE hold, or charge Sleep if you want it to work in an AoE instead of just on 1 target). Gears mostly for Str, w/ some Con and Rec (for Pulv).

Ofc, I can also give you more of a standard Might dps build w/ some TP thrown in instead, if you still want that. In that case, I may focus more on adding in MLeech and Mind Drain (if you have the latter) for some off-healing, and/or maybe Ego Storm for fun. Also prob using a more standard Str PSS setup w/ dps specs like Wardicator or Brawler.

Thank you flow, as always :) That is VERY much what I was first thinking, (I FINALLY found Vuln, thx) ;P
Here is what I settled on trying first, using TP for a single ranged attack, Mind Drain for an Att/heal, and Ego Storm for a local lockdown while I punch them., :) Otehrwise a 'normal' DPS might build(?)
I did NOT stat Pres as a SS, as I took Arbiter/Enforcer and Arbiter Mastery, although I suppose I could swap Con for Pre as a SSS and make my 2 Pre based powers even better?

Yeah I think you're kinda going for what my other basic suggestion was: Might dps w/ some TP utility like Mind Drain and CC. However the main thing to add, imo, is a Dependency source for Mind Drain's AoE adv, and for TP that's Mental Leech. I may not usually pick Arbiter spec, but it's okay here if you want to boost the heals slightly and get Rend for a bit more debuffing, but I may pass on its Mastery since you'd only use the combo occasionally against single-targets (though more often in AoE). Here's an edit of it:

I swapped the lunge to Bestial's Pounce here, just cause it can KD for Enrage and Pulv, but you can switch back to Might's lunge if you want. You can AoE w/ Beatdown's cleave, MLeech, and Ego Storm, while doing the usual rotation for Haymaker on single-targets. You can also help off-heal w/ MLeech and/or Mind Drain, if needed. Gears mostly for Str, w/ some Con and Rec.

OK,... So you didnt change too much, swapped Ego blast for MLeech for the Dependency, and traded the AO (Aggressor) for Conviction for another heal (Another heal IS always good)
On your update. Would Mleech, Mind Drain & ego storm benefit from swapping Rec (or Con) to Pre SSS? (As on your previous Debuff/DPS build?) Or would the 'bonus' be negligible since the powers are 'support' for the build and not 'primary'?

Thank you for your time and thoughts.

OH< And I did like the swap to Pounce too. I picked Mighty leap for the innate mini stun, but Pounce's KD to trigger Enrage/Pulveriser is probably much better! CC & energy return in one! :) Thx again,

Yea, you could switch to Pres SS if you want a bit more bonus heal and CC strength, but it's not going to be a large boost since Pres isn't a main stat focus here, and you may want the extra Rec for Pulv's energy (or Con for the extra extra health). But it's up to you what you like better in practice.
